Maybe if you both buy mobile phones you can just use them instead?

The PlayStation VR is AU$549, with an October release date:

https://blog.eu.playstation.com/2016/03/15/playstation-vr-launches-this-october-priced-349-99-399-99/

This price doesn't include the required camera though (currently $84 at JB Hi-Fi), or any PS Move controllers for games that want motion control. No word yet on whether there will be a bundle with those extras, which seem a bit weird given that pretty much no one bought that PS4 camera.

That's a lot cheaper than I thought it would be. I still have the issue of not really having the space I think would be required for VR. I might wait till Dave buys one then go use his

I use my camera quite a bit - works nicely and does a good enough job.

October... $550... hmm... I think I can do that.

Dick Smith has the PS4 camera for under $50 as part of its liquidation sale for anyone who wants to pick one up before then:

Of course, it's possible there will be bundles available in October that work out to a similar price, and the camera is pretty useless up until then.

$50 is pretty good for it. I'd recommend grabbing it at that price. As far as the reports I've read have suggested, there'll be a bundle with the camera coming along. I'd probably say it'd go for about $630/$640?

I'm more curious about where to grab a Move controller. Never grabbed one when it came out on the PS3 years ago, and probably should look into grabbing one or two in the next few months to get myself prepared if I need to use them.

At the moment, there are 230 developers working on games for PSVR - so Sony's really ensuring that there is a library of games to play. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-03-15-heres-230-developers-making-playstation-vr-games

At launch at least there will be Star Wars Battlefront (a good launch title IMO as many people already have it and if the graphics stay at the same level, then it would be a stunning title to show with PSVR), Soma (I'm already looking forward to replaying this in VR), and No Man's Sky (I wonder how many people will wait til PSVR comes out to purchase this? I know I will). I wouldn't be surprised if Super Hot comes out between now and then on PS4.

Another contender for PC VR -- the Sulon Q:

It looks like Sulon is working together with AMD in some capacity. The main unique features of this headset are that it is wireless (so a battery pack strapped to your head?), and has cameras on the outside for augmented reality.

Spoiler: click to toggle

Nothing that really jumps out at me. At least this will encourage me to finally get around to trying out Surgeon Simulator.

And there's that 'flooding the market' I was concerned about. Oculus, Vive, PSVR, Samsung VR and now this... that's five versions of VR on the market. Granted, Samsung VR is very different from the other VR headsets, and of course PSVR is for Playstations, but still...

I'm also really not keen about the idea of having a battery pack strapped to my head.

I guess this is about as close as Sony is going to get to VR porn on their platform.

According to EB the online preorder has been exhausted. I was going to preorder mine in store just so I can pay it off that way, plus I have a preorder with them already so was going to transfer deposit across. Hopefully I can still do that.
