Alright, so, there's a 'quiz' that now exists which will help you decide what your favourite game of all time will be. I'll be curious to see what takes Rayman Origins place.

So according to this list, my top 30 are...

Spoiler: click to toggle

10. Super Mario 64 - Great game and had a hard time choosing this over other options at times
9. Tetris - Would have expected this to be higher given how often I chose it over other games
8. Super Mario World - Great game, pleased to see it here
7. Zelda: A Link to the Past - My second favourite Zelda game, so nice to see it in this list, even if I wouldn't have selected it by myself
6. Super Mario Bros 3 - If I were creating this list by myself, this would be top five
5. Fallout 3 - Love this game, my first platinum
4. GoldenEye 007 - I haven't played it since all those years ago, but the amount of time I did spend with it helped create a bunch of great memories
3. Zelda: The Wind Waker - My favourite Zelda, probably not top 5 for me though
2. Journey - Definite top 10 game
1. DK Country 2 - Can't argue against this entry, it is a perfect game

Sorry, I got halfway through that and lost interest. The answer would've been Dark Souls or Majora's Mask.

You're not sorry. You're a house of lies!

I thought mine would be Journey, but was pleased by what it came up with.

Also, Wind Waker is the most overrated Zelda while Twilight Princess is the most underrated. Just throwing that out there. Wind Waker is definitely my least fave of the 3D games. It's just blatantly unfinished. The second half is like the second "half" of MGS5, though not nearly as bad.

I gave up after a while: the amount of work they want you to do is reasonable if you're after a total ordering of 128 games. If all you want is a top 10, it shouldn't require anywhere near as much work.

I'd expect 127 comparisons to determine the number 1 spot, using elimination tournament style brackets. Once #1 is chosen, remove it from play and assume that whoever #1 eliminated in the first round made it to the second round and then do comparisons for any new match ups (since that game that got eliminated early might actually be #2). This should be at most 6 more comparisons. Repeat until you have your 10 picks, which should be at most 187 comparisons (although probably less).

I can't comment on Twilight Princess as I didn't play it, but I did buy a Game Cube for Wind Waker and I loved it then. Still need to replay it on Wii U.

You do end up with a list of all of the games in order at the end. I don't think it takes that much time to be honest - mind you, I did it between tasks at work.

The games are chosen from a list on a particular site - so not every game of all time. I get what you're saying about a tournament style round out, but that's been done before. I find this interesting that you're forced to decide between particular games and essentially it tallies how many times you clicked on X game.

I liked it back when it came out but replaying it a few years back I noticed how hastily patched together it is, especially after the Tower of the Gods. The remaining dungeons are fine, but the storytelling dies after such a good start. The Triforce hunt is some godawful padding that I think is compensating for something Nintendo didn't have time to finish (Nintendo admitted that a couple of dungeons in TP were carried over from WW) and Ganon's Tower is maybe the worst dungeon in any game, not counting the fight against Ganon. They make you fight all the bosses again with your current health and abilities! It makes no sense!

That's not what it is doing. From a brief look at the page, it looks like it is doing a merge sort where it stops every time a comparison would be made to ask the user.

Again: this is a fine algorithm if the goal is to order the entire set of games. I'm saying that there are better ways to do things if your priority is to discover the top N results rather than discovering the total ordering.

The other problem is that the simple less than/equal/greater than question is a bit low level to present to a human and expect consistent results. From the questions it gave me, I wouldn't be surprised if I answered with a loop somewhere (e.g. A is better than B, B is better than C, C is better than A). For a human, a better interface might be something like this:

1. present two options and ask the user to order them via drag and drop.
2. present a third option, and get the user to drag it into the list at the appropriate position. The user can also reorder any existing results as they go.
3. repeat (2) until all options are present in the list.

Time isn't over yet so I'm gonna be a dick, point that out, and just not participate... could be because of the previous comments about survbey length too though ;)

1 GTA: Vice City
2 Super Mario Galaxy
3 Metroid Prime
4 Metal Gear Solid
5 Portal 2
6 Batman: Arkham City
7 Portal
8 GTA: San Andreas
9 Mass Effect
10 Resident Evil 4

Uhh, not bad at all really. Actually pretty good considering the limited number of games. The top 3 there might actually be my top 3. A bit of the trouble for me was how many of the games this is throwing at me have I even played. Not many as it turns out.

Got bored staring at a boring white screen with an light font for too long.

As well as the quiz not understanding that I picked the other option over Destiny for the upteenth time, yet still has the nerve to ask it again.
