Was going to come here and say that I hope Giant Bomb does the talking over E3 thing again, and I just saw it show up in the Coming Up panel on the front page. Very happy now. It was the best way to watch the show and I have no idea how I watched E3 without that over the years (actually I don't think I watched 2013). Plus the guys don't even like going so they might as well do what they do best and just talk shit over the stream. |

So apparently the first wave of these will be sent out on October 16th to pre-order customers, ahead of a wider launch. I was starting to wonder if Valve would ever release it: They've got high res pictures here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/353370/ (probably renders, by the look of it) And prices for the hardware here: http://store.steampowered.com/hardware/ Steam Controller: US$50 Steam Link: US$50 (looks like a box that acts solely as an in-home streaming client) Steam Machines: around US$500 Edited by jamesh, Jun 5 2015, 11:12 AM.

I'm quite keen to try that controller as it looks horribly uncomfortable... yet I feel they wouldn't go with a gimmick if it weren't viable. |

Yeah I'm interested to know what the comfort is like, but also the game compatibility. That's the main reason I'm afraid to try anything other than my 360 controller for my PC uses, I love the native support it has. |

It's compatible with anything, the track pad is an analog for a mouse. |

What I meant was the way a 360 controller has the correct on screen prompts and all the controls set automatically, since obviously it just sets the controls the same way the 360 or xbone version controls. I don't like using a controller and the on screen prompts are like "button 8" which means absolutely nothing, in addition to the mild inconvenience of having to map all the buttons manually. |

That's probably why they've named al the face buttons the same as an Xbox controller. Presumably the Windows driver can also present the controller via the Xinput API, defaulting to the same buttons as a 360 controller. |

Yeah I would hope so, if that's how it turned out to be I'd definitely consider it if and when I need to replace my 360 controller. However, since I don't use it heavily that's not likely to be for quite some time. |

I'm liking what I see of Fallout 4. One thing I really want from the game is for it to be more playable as an actual shooter, which both 3 and New Vegas were pretty poor at. The combat montage they released certain makes it look like my wish will be granted! I really want more emphasis put on actual solid shooting mechanics and less on VATS, not because I don't like VATS but because it's outright OP in 3 and NV. They need to slow the recharge timer on it way down so you can only use it maybe a couple times an encounter. Maybe base it around scoring hits to build it up or something. One thing that's hinted at is the way you actually get into the power armour, which indicates that it's more situational which I really like the idea of. All of the Fallout games always treated it as just a good set of armour to wear and that you never ever had any reason to take it off. Some actual advantages to lighter armour vs power armour would be nice. I love that we're also finally getting to actually go up in a vertibird! I remember all the time it took me to hunt down the parts for them in Fallout 2 for the endgame, I was so disappointed when they weren't what I hoped in 3 or NV. Jetpack also looks cool. Even though I think New Vegas is the better Fallout game, I still liked 3 and it's unique take on Fallout, but the main thing that made New Vegas better was the variety of the world. 3 was the black sheep in that absolutely everything was a total wreck, and that there weren't as many quirky little oddities to come across. 3's most cool, memorable thing like that was Harold. A suicidal talking tree mutant trapped by his own physical form in a grove of (contextually rare) plant growth, worshiped by the humans around him. That's the kind of stuff that makes Fallout fucking cool (not to mention he was a returning character), so I really hope they learnt from Obsidian and have more interesting things like that to discover. All in all, I'm optimistic about Fallout 4. Edited by Doomguy, Jun 15 2015, 04:49 PM.

DOOM looked absolutely awesome. That's what a modern DOOM game should be, it makes that awful betrayal DOOM 3 look like what it is; a joke. I would likely have preferred a death metal soundtrack instead of an electronic one, but I still think it fits. Edited by Doomguy, Jun 15 2015, 05:08 PM.

So far only watched Bethesda video. The presentation was simple but very effective, im not even into Fallout series but I enjoyed the footage. For me the winner was Doom 4 video, it looks damn awesome. |

The Bone is Backwards compatible. That's a very nice feature, but it might be too late. It could have been nicer if it was done from launch as it took 2 and a half years for the console generation to actually have decent games

So it isn't actually running the old game code in an emulator. Instead, this is roughly equivalent to if Sony let you download and play the PS4 version of Last of Us when you inserted the matching PS3 game disc. So lets hope that 360 game developers were better about saving their source code than some developers in previous generations (e.g. Konami losing the final Silent Hill 2 source). Seems like a decent compromise, since I don't think anyone has worked out how you'd emulate a tripple core 3 GHz PowerPC CPU using an 1.75GHz x86 CPU. |
