Can you guys enlighten me as to how important the Assassin of Kings is in #3? He's not in mine.

Ah, yeah fair enough. Well what matters a lot more is the context of that screenshot which I certainly won't spoil for ye.

Cheers guys. Seems like he wasn't all that important after all although I would have liked to see the dialogue after Act II.

I'm now almost past where I was when I finished writing my review :) Ironically just past the screenshot mentioned earlier :)

I'd forgotten how much that Mist Island part annoyed me. Such a "filler" section. Was kinda irritating the first time thru but downright boring the second. I just wanted it to be over so I could move onto the next story part!

EDIT: I meant to say I was sure those were the witches until the witches were revealed to be uggos. So it would've been surprising to learn they de-uggoed later on.
Check your bestiary on them and you'll learn why they were different to the portrait and what they're all about. I'm still uncertain as to what that has to do with the people you potentially save in that camp though. Unless that has something to do with their apparent immortality.

It's wierd but, from the books and the first two games, I had a really strong opinion that the Wild Hunt were a horde of undead, immortal, skeletal warriors. This game really seems to "humanise" them a lot.

Based on the quote in the bestiary description of the crones, there's a play exactly like Macbeth on the Continent called Macveth. It almost quotes it verbatim. That is so oddly direct.

SB just put out a pretty good video about the witcher franchise. Mostly about the 1st one and the books.

Roche looks younger than he did in TW2.

The story in the main questline in Novigrad pales in comparison to Velen's.

It's hard to believe that I'm probably not even halfway through the game yet. There are a ton of missions sitting undone in my log, while I haven't even been to Skellige yet.

BTW, do the witches show up again in the main story or are they part of a sidequest?

The trick with the Witcher 3 is that you can play most of the game in that chapter you're in now. So, despite the main story progression, you might find you're much further along in the game than you thought.

What witches are you talking about? The crones? If so then the answer is

That spoiler doesn't have story spoilers. It's just an answer for your question

Yeah, the crones. They are the most intriguing thing in the story so far. Velen's self-contained drama was full of surprises and colourful characters, but Novigrad feels like an afterward lull that isn't as audacious and carefully plotted. I hope things pick up again in Skellige.

I'm assuming you're not up to it, but the underworld / political stuff does pick up again a bit later. I did like Velen's story the most, but I thought Skellige's was better than Novigrad. Skellige is also my favourite part of the world.
