Ah, I had almost forgotten about this game. I was enjoying it but got to one that stumped me a little. Gotta get back to it. |

Out now. From one of the user reviews: "The level design feels more spacious and open, with less of a sense of being a rat in a maze. There's more verticality in the terrain and in puzzles themselves." Sold |

Doing the Tower before starting Road to Gehanna. I had a moment where I stared up a chute at a fan on the floor above me, trying to figure out how to get a jammer up there to stop it. After twenty minutes of experiments with clones, the jammer, a block and a mine it occurred to me that I could just aim the jammer up the freakin' chute. The last puzzle is pretty cool, though the 'timer' is a bummer. I had to restart about six times because I'm slow at this stuff, and also one time cause I fell off the Tower. Yeah, the last puzzle was great. Open areas, some verticality, that co-op mechanic and im pretty sure there were multiple ways to solve some puzzles. It really needed some checkpoints. |

There's an early puzzle called "The Swapper" in RTG that doesn't involve clones or remind me of anything in The Swapper, but it has such a cool solution. It looks complex but is deceptively simple. When I figured it out I admired the logic. There have also been a couple of wide area puzzles and it's pretty cool having the streams cover such immense distances.

Finished it, not including the stars. It's short but sweet. The difficulty is constantly about the same as late-game TTP. A few of the puzzles stand out for their ingenuity, a few feel like retreads of old ideas, and most are solid. The philosophical stuff interested me less this time around. I enjoyed the conversational dynamic in TTP where The Shepherd tests your beliefs against logic, but here the philosophy is all one-way traffic, delivered in a similar manner as those cringe-worthy spiels from Alexandra (at least none of it is voice acted). That said, the terminals connect you to an online forum of sorts with other robots in Gehenna and there's some interesting, funny stuff involved in that. I'll do the stars if I learn they're not as ridiculously hard to obtain as they are in TTP. It's obvious in TTP that they're designed with the expectation that online communities will come together and figure them out (one of them requires knowledge of computer code to locate, for God's sake), but for the majority of people not participating in those communities the only realistic solution is to use a walkthrough, which is hardly in the spirit of puzzle-solving. EDIT: That said, I've been reading comments on the game and it seems a fair few people managed to get the stars by themselves, so maybe I just dismissed them out of laziness. I did a star from World 1 (in Gehenna) and it was pretty fun...probably harder than most puzzles in the game, but entirely contained within a puzzle room. Also it's possible to do the final puzzle in TTP solo: Edited by Moo, Aug 12 2015, 01:50 AM.
