My town has gone down the shitter. Wonder if I can just start a new town nearby and leave this one to die.
You may as well try. I'm pretty sure this is what western Sydney looks like...

Maybe use your shitty city to earn some monuments. Have you unlocked those yet? If you hover over them it'll give you the requirements. e.g. over 50% of the population sick for 3 weeks or something. Just feed them all MJs poo-water and shut down all the medical stuff :) Then, when you start a new save, you'll have it unlockked already ;)

Things are looking up again. I don't think I have any monuments, but I upgraded the roads from my power plants to the highway which seems to have finally fixed my electricity problem. Which I believe was a major factor in why people were leaving. Now not so many people are leaving and the rate of industrial and commercial buildings being abandoned has reduced dramatically.

Fixed up some of my policy and tax stuff, put some extra clinics, schools and parks around in my residential areas and that seems to have picked things up as well. Now I'm raking in money again. I'm not even sure what to do with most of it yet, it's come in so fast. I've got a farming district going as well now which is probably helping there.

I still don't have many people coming back to the residential area. However my high density residential area seems to be more popular, perhaps because it's closer to the commercial zones. I'm not sure.

Davopolis is growing nicely. Beginning to meet up with the areas I started the town now... guess it's nearly time toi bulldoze the foundations that made the metropolis what it is!

Traffic is performing MUCH better now I've got a handle on how it works :)

For both the initial and ongoing cost I really don't see the benefit of monuments. The coverage is better but the capacity doesn't seem a worthhile trade.

i.e. Why have a $650,000 medical center when you could have two $65,000 hospitals instead?!

Can you get Godzilla to attack your city? I remember enjoying that feature in the original Sim City.

This one doesn't seem to have any natural or fictional disasters you can apply

I only really have two issues with Skylines.

1. Traffic is weird. So many instances where cars cause traffic jams trying to all use one lane. Worst is my three lane, one way highway leading out of the city. Problem is that cars are in the left lane waiting to turn left and get into the city but all the cars wanting to go straight ahead (driving off map) are also in that lane. There are two other lanes they could use and avoid a traffic jam but they all use that. }:(

2. I see dead people! Despite numerous crematoriums and cemetaries all with multi lane roads and almost no traffic congestion my city is choc full of dead people!! This usually results in abandoned buildings too :(

There's a... oh nvm. MJ posted it already :) My favourite mods are the one that allows you to upgrade/reverse road direction and the one that fixes up that zoomed in blurriness.

I actually don't mind him. You can X on the things you don't want to hear and just save it for stuff like dead body or garbage notification. Then click on the name of the person who said it and it zooms you to that part of the city. Handy for identifying potential problem areas.

I'm finding the Traffic AI not really all that humanized or all that logical. They seem to prefer going around the world on a 1 way road to avoid an intersection rather than just taking the shortest route while needing to cross a said intersection.

Game is fun so far. Somewhat easy compared to the building/micro-management hells that are Anno 2070 and Tropico. But there are alot of interesting planning layers to it that take the building phase beyond just balancing supply and demand.

Just torched everything. Started a new game with the Unlock milestones mod and a few other convenience ones. I'm enjoying the game ALOT more now.

The first hour or so of buying plots of area and then planning out a rail and highway system around resources ports etc seemed so enjoyable even if there's no actual growing or city building happening.

Gonna plan to make the city as nice as possible: Breaking away from the grid, actually using pedestrians, making little subdivisions and other cool little things I have in mind with greenery and plotting trees down >:[

I love how monuments carry over to new games. A litle frustrating you need to reach 80k and have all the preceeding buildings placed to buy them but still cool.
