Talk BB in here so the other thread isn't crowded. Put some details in spoilers though like bosses, secrets, new areas and such.

One design decision I have a minor gripe with is that blood vials (estus flasks) don't regenerate after death (though you keep the ones you have), so you have to either buy more or kill enemies to collect them. You can stock a lot of them and you'll generally always have them until you hit a difficulty wall. A bit strange though since it forces you to do some minor farming, which isn't the Dark Souls way.

Man I REALLY want to talk about the second boss fight. Without going into details I completely adapted my method of approach three times, in the process learning an important thing about combat I'd completely missed beforehand. This is the kind of ingenius design I felt was lacking in DS2.

That really felt like the tone-setter the gargoyles fight was in DS1. Great fight.

I only managed to play for two or three hours last night. The whole time I felt uneasy not having a shield. Still getting used to dodging, as it's my worst skill in any souls games.
Anyway I managed to find two bosses somehow and didn't kill any :p

I have a feeling this is going to be a big time suck so mine's still witting in its plastic for now. I'll try to finish off Shadow of Mordor before I start. My wife and family are away next week too which is awesome in that I can play from the minute I get home right up until bed time :)

Yeah it was but I didn't have to worry about being hit as much. Pretty much one hit everything so I just had to make sure I go the first hit.

The map so far seems pretty spread out, I'm struggling to remember where I've been sometimes, hence why I ran into two separate bosses :p

This current boss is so easy when you start fighting it, then it enters a second phase that's still easy, then it enters a third phase that fucking destroys you if you even think about using the same tactics.

After about 10 tries I think I'm going to go exploring. I've barely stepped outside of the city yet. By 'barely' I mean I left once but was killed 20 seconds later and haven't returned to that area since.

Aaand now the game is doing crazy, inventive stuff that cements it as more than "More Dark Souls". It just...man, it's blowing my expectations. This game is pure genius.

I finally found a shield! Haven't used it yet but nice to know it's there.
Also figured out the parry system, made my life a bit easier.

Only thing I'm a little disappointed in so far is the lack of equipment pickups. So far I've replaced my starting armor set but I'm still using the starting weapon.

I've been playing over 15 hours and I'm still using my original weapon. I've only come across two new ones plus a few more that become available in the Hunter's Dream as you progress, but I think the game leans heavily towards weapon upgrades.

Hmm. Well, the ending has crept up unexpectedly. I haven't beaten it but the final boss is available after about 33 hours of play. That's a great amount of game time for people with lives, but for us ultra-geek folk it's a great sadness. I was exploring every nook and cranny too (though there are a few locked doors and mysterious items I haven't figured out). I guess it's not too bad. Compared to Dark Souls, sans DLC, it's only a little shorter.

Anyway, I have a couple of days before normal working life resumes so I'm exploring/scouring the Internet for secrets before finishing the thing.
