My grand plans of starting and finishing a bunch of games I assume will top my list are rapidly crumbling with each day that passes...

My list will pop up on the Another Dungeon end of year gaming list.

Buuut, I'm already kicking myself for not mentioning Mario Kart 8. What a dickhead.

Ok it's up

http://www.anotherdungeon.com/2014-games-year/

tl;dr? Here's mine

1st Place : Dark Souls 2
2nd Place : Transistor
3rd Place : Divinity : Original Sin

Whilst 2014 was replete with stellar titles, there was one that stood head and shoulders above the rest: Dark Souls 2. It took everything I loved about the franchise and improved on it. The world was deep and diverse, rewarding players who explored, and the combat was varied with a perfect difficulty to suit. It's rare that I replay a game, and even rarer that subsequent runs feel like a new experience. Dark Souls 2 achieved this and even after three separate playthroughs (not to mention the DLC), still left me feeling like I'd only scratched the surface. A diverse and complex title that's easy to learn, but difficult to master. Praise the sun!

Second place was a tough choice between Transistor and Divinity: Original Sin. Transistor was a beautiful game with unique gameplay that was executed perfectly. The music and visuals were amazing and created a truly engaging ambiance. Divinity: Original Sin had exceptional open storytelling and playstyle, which created a truly great role-playing experience. It really took the genre back to its roots, whilst applying a modern style to address the issues experienced in older titles.

You should really play Dark Souls again and realize how wrong this is.

Dark Souls 2 is good but there's just no contest. It's like The Simpsons season 9. It's structurally similar to what came before but the soul is winking out of existence.

Here's a tip for your website: don't put the review scores in the headlines. Not revealing the score will entice more people to click.

Also put a link to the website on these forums and I might look at it more often.

5. The Walking Dead S2
4. South Park Stick of Truth
3. Guacamelee! Super Championship Edition

Dark Souls - Each to their own :)

Reviews - I actually didn't want to have scores at all but you kinda need to :(

Links - The header is full of links. Home, Games, Reviews, and The Podcast all direct you to Another Dungeon.

Thanks for the feedback btw. Really do appreciate it

3: PvZ Garden Warfare. Wasn't expecting much from this title but it ended up being heaps of fun
2: Shadow of Mordor. Really good game with a great AI system. Want to see the Nemesis system in a lot more games in the future.
1: Dark Souls 2. I disagree with Moo as well. Much more refined experience. Loved replaying this and I don't replay games often

I know many of you are among the millions of fans who enjoy my Because I Said So game of the year awards. It's now in its seventh year and still going strong. I posted part 1 a little earlier, but I'll summarise the selections here...

Most Disappointing - Valiant Hearts (iOS)
It's broken and has been since day 1. Had I purchased it on another platform, I'm sure it would have been a strong contender for my game of the year.

Best Shrink Wrapped - Transistor (PC)
It remains virtually shrink wrapped in my Steam library. I promise I'll click that install button soon.

Best Oldie - Valkyria Chronicles 3 (PSP)
Thanks to a fan translation, it finally makes a little more sense...a little.

Well yeah but it's still a reflection of poor taste.

I'm not saying don't have scores. I'm saying don't put the scores in the headers so that people will click into the reviews to find out the scores. I imagine it would increase your hits.

My Most Disappointing game I have played is Child of Light. Hot Garbage.

Put me off trying Valiant Hearts after hearing the puzzle design in it are really poor.

Yeah but I actually didn't want scores at all :) I like the idea of good and bad points but didn't want the numerical rating. Added it in the end because 1. it's something worht having, 2. It's essential for discussion points and 3. I can't very well not have had scores and then promote the site as a place where people can post their own reviews and scores if they don't like something :)

That's a good idea though. I'll run it up the flagpole in the team chatter and see what they say. I initially thought you just meant on the review page itself but you're talking about the header pages elsewhere right?

Would also fix a problem I have where, if we've not given a score, it seems to be displaying a 7.5
