That's a pretty good result. I came 33rd in mine. I'm liking that they're giving out more 4* characters at the introduction events, after coming 51st in the Kingpin event.

From what they said in the developer videos the taco vault will automatically reset after 5 days, so you won't be able to continue drawing from it week after week until you hit the 4* covers. Luckily this means it shouldn't be necessary to spend the 1000 HP fee to reset the vault manually.

One open question is whether the tokens we get after the current 5 days will be compatible with the next 5 day round. The current vault says "Taco Vault: Sweet", and the tokens also said "sweet" when I received them. If it is a different vault next, will it rotate back again afterwards to "sweet"?

I think a better idea would be they swap the rewards we got with new ones.

If they instantly replaced anything pulled from the vault, then it would effectively be the same as all the other token types in the game. I think they wanted to try something different here, so the odds change slightly with each token. Perhaps they hope people will be more likely to buy extra tokens if it actually improves their odds?

In the grand scheme of things, it looks like the odds have been improved slightly. You previously had a 10% chance of pulling a 3* character (2% for each one featured in the round). Now there are 34 out of 300 possibilities, or 11.3% chance. Previously you had zero chance of pulling a 4*, and now you have a 1% chance. And the odds for the 250 HP and 1000 HP seem to be the same too, so all the new rewards come at the expense of pulling a 2* cover.

As for the available 4* covers, for me it shows yellow Wolverine, green Invisible Woman, and red Thor. So it doesn't look like these picks are the same for everyone (so probably not predictable in advance either).

I am going to go crazy.

I'm trying to get that 3* Blade cover in the last Deadpool thing and keep getting waxed. Those damn ninjas when you kill them throw out those tiles and they just chew through me. I'm running the team setup you guys recommended and just can't do it. GAH!

Jamesh,

I have to ask. How the hell can I get 4k points in the Season so I can hit that 10 pack? I'm trying to start events so I have a full time slot to pick away points. But, man it's a literal slog and I feel like I'm not going anywhere. For instance this latest season I am just a hair over 500 points. Going into the Simulator and the one event that I have open all the matchups are red which means I'll get my ass kicked. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or what.

I'd like to think I have a decent enough squad that's getting better every day with more options and leveling them up. But I'm almost to the point where I want to say Screw PVP all together and just never go into that tab again. :-(

To put it simply, you need to average 400 points in each tournament of the season (there are 10 tournaments), or make up the difference via the simulator.

The red nodes you see in the tournament are "retaliation nodes". Whenever you beat someone in the tournament, you will show up as a red node in their game giving them a chance to regain some of the points they lost. There is no penalty for skipping a red node, so don't even bother fighting them if they clearly outclass you. If you can beat them, it may be worth retaliating though: the points you get for a winning a match are proportional to the difference in scores between the two players, so if they beat you on their way up the ladder you might get a lot of points for hitting them back.

Other than that, make good use of the skip button: if you are skipping an average of three or less opponents per match you play, it should be cost neutral. Don't bother fighting low point matches, since you don't gain much and could lose a lot on retaliation (since you'll be a high point target for them). It's also worth thinking about how the team you're using will do on defence. You've probably noticed that the AI can't play certain characters effectively (e.g. Vision ping-ponging between light and heavy density, wasting all the blue and yellow AP), so you might want to avoid them. Also, if your team has two active abilities for a particular colour AP. The ideal team would be one with a single active ability on each colour, with the rest of the abilities being passive, so the AI never has to make this choice, but that isn't always possible.

I've been playing the current Venom story event, and found I couldn't complete all the nodes in the final section. I beat two of the fights against Carnage, but haven't managed the second last node, which has Carnage, Venom and Dr Octopus at levels 149/150/149. Carnage just eats through too much of my health too quickly, and even if I knock him off I've still got to deal with all the attack tiles he left behind.

I had the same problem with Carnage, he is a much worse version of those Ninjas.

I haven't played any of the PvP events since the health upgrades. Just with the daily event I will be able to max out most 3 star characters by the end of the year.

Managed to comfortably finish 2nd in my group for the Venom event, got a Yellow Kingpin cover and 3 covers for Falcon who I can max out now (will do 5/5/3).

I managed to make #5 in my bracket despite the trouble with Carnage. Perhaps I could have reached #2 with a little more effort at the end and ignoring the Carnage nodes all together (I burned through 6 health packs redoing the Thing essential node at the end). I got my 3 Falcon covers though, so I'm happy. That brings him up to 4/5/3.

Apparently there is a 30 day Ant-Man themed event coming up too, to tie in with the movie. That's either going to be fun or a horrible grind.

Man, I feel like an idiot. For as long as I have been playing this, I never knew there was a skip button for those and I always thought the red icon meant "Do not enter you'll get your ass kicked" lol

I've had two really good pulls.

Last night I got a token for the Simulator even and got Professor X (Purple).

Today, I did the 2 Deadpool Daily quests that give tokens and on my second one I pulled a Nick Fury (Blue).

Only have a single cover for either so it will take a bit to make them really useful, but still pretty happy with that. :-)

I managed to get my fifth yellow Falcon cover from an event token from Simulator, letting me complete him as 5/5/3. Also managed to pull a 5th blue for my 3* Captain America from the independence day vault (I wish I had more red covers for him though).

After replaying the starter node for Simulator a few times, I can see how Falcon and Kingpin can work together quite well. Get 5 blue so Falcon can start using Red Wing to remove enemy special tiles, and then you can use Kingpin's black finger poke move to destroy the Red Wing countdown tile for extra damage and have that power ready to go next turn.

They've had some interesting matches in this event. One of my memorable wins was against Gamora, where I was using 3* Wolverine as one of my characters. She fired off her Skull Cracker move that stunned the other two characters, leaving only Wolverine. Since Wolverine was now covering all colours, I was able to one-shot her with Best There Is (he was doing 94 damage per tile with his icon).

And congratulations on those 4* pulls. Nick Fury's demolition move can be a real pain. One of the times I wiped out on the Nick Fury/Wolverine/Devil Dino node in simulator was due to demolition: I managed to take him down using Magneto's red power, but even though I'd killed him demolition went off and killed Magneto.

Ok, I finally get the Thor, Black Widow, Storm combo for that 4 level Deadpool Challenge room. Been able to get the last 4 days worth of covers which is nice. Today, I hit the 4th stage and had so much powers stored up they didn't even get an attack off. I was like... holy shit this is awesome. lol

My simulator finishes up here in 2 hours and I have an outside chance of getting all 3 covers for Captain Marvel which would be really nice. I'm trying to figure out which character I want to start throwing a lot of ISO into now.

I feel like I'm making progress now though. Thanks a lot for the tips, they are helping a ton. =D

I picked up 2 covers for Captain Marvel for that event.

Once you get characters over level 100 it can get tricky for the daily event, good thing is they only go up to Level 132 so will eventually be much easier with level 166 characters.

I got the 4* Ant Man cover from the "Growth Industry" event, and hopefully will get two or three more from the Enemy of the State run. I also managed to pull a second Thing cover from the token from his tournament, which was quite lucky.

When they said there was going to be a 30 day event to launch Ant Man I was wary that it'd be a tough slog, but I've completed it already. Two of the 5 missions are tough survival matches though, so it isn't trivial though. The first of the survival matches was the most difficult, being four rounds of three hero characters (no goons) and Deadpool being in every round. In addition to him protecting the others with his black, if the enemy built up enough purple you get Whales.

The second survival mission was somewhat easier. You get a loaner Ant Man, fully covered at level 70. And while this one was 5 rounds, it was only one hero character each round. Also, Ant Man's "grow" power (triggered by using his blue or purple powers twice) was enough to one-shot most of those heroes. You want to get rid of Dr Octopus pretty quickly in his round too, since he is paired with an Ultron sentry who will duplicate his attack tiles.

With that said, I'm a little surprised that they've released three 4* characters in a row now. It seems a bit excessive.

I finished it a couple of days ago, I agree with the first survival being harder. I used Thor and Black Widow so keep pumping up the green AP so I could keep using Call the Storm. I won't complain like many others about the event, much rather get a 4 star then hope for covers from tokens.

Saying that I did get a red Elektra cover from a Taco Token yesterday which was a surprise.
