Not sure whether the game is for me. My biggest problem is not that it's hard, but that replaying the same area over and over and over just isn't fun. At all.

This is what I fear most with starting the series. Im afraid I cannot dedicate long sessions to the games therefore not progressing or pumping total hours for completion.

I'm a little worried it won't be for me either, but I bought it for $5. Maybe if I start it right after my exams finish I'll have a good amount of time to dedicate to just playing that. Not sure how willing I am to do that but we'll see.

Well I have Demon Souls on the PS3 to start off with first as well, its kind of the reason why I still have the PS3 connected to my TV. The other 2 I have on PC.

I assume I will need to put aside anywhere from 50-100hours for each game, where currently I am averaging 1 hour game time a week. It will take me a year to finish one game lol.

It's undoubtedly frustrating at times, but I was never really bored by it and the feeling of finally overcoming a difficult area was great. On a first playthrough the game spikes in difficulty very early but plateaus a few hours in. But the fact is that replaying areas will continue to happen right up until the end.

Nevermind, I was just being a retard and didn't kick down the ladder. It's no where near as bad as I thought in that regard. I'm quite liking it now, actually. Most recent boss I defeated was the Gargoyles on top of big church. I died the first time, but came back as a human rather than a hollow (not sure if it helped, but a note on the roof which said "Weakness humanity" made me think it would) and I summoned a knight to help me which made it criminally easy, actually.

I also got a big fuck off pole arm / axe thing which is amazing. Does a fair bit of damage but it's the reach it has that makes it amazing, not to mention swinging and hitting a bunch of cunts is super effective. I'm playing as a Pyromancer, by the way. The fireballs you can cast have been pretty useful.

After googling, I just realised that the invasion is a scripted NPC event. I did think Maneater Mildred was a funny name. No wonder she sucked so much.

Well I got to Anor Londo, and all I can say is fuck Sen's Fortress. That was a pain in the ass. The boss, the giant Golem thing was dead easy, killed it first try, but the environmental hazards getting up to it were pretty annoying. Took me a number of tries to get through it all.

Sen's Fortress is hard as hell but it's also awesome. Reminded me of Prince of Persia. But yeah it was a pain in the ass being knocked off the last thin beam and having to haul ass from the Undead Parish all over again.

Also the Golem was not dead easy for me. Even after I'd figured out how to work around its attacks I still kept falling off the ledge like an idiot.

On the descent did you play it slow and steady or just haul ass to the swamp bonfire?

For the Golem all I did was just dart between his legs and I ended up knocking him off the edge. Ain't a thang, yo. And yeah, I did get knocked off the last thin beam because I didn't notice the gap between the two sets of blades, I thought I could get through all 4 in one like the previous beam. That was a right pain in the dick.

I had no idea where I was supposed to be heading in Blighttown, but I guess I'd be closer to the 'slow and steady' category as I made it down to the swamp in one piece without getting myself killed.

I have to say that the most liberating feeling in dark souls is when you die for a second time and lose your souls, because you stop being a bitch nigga and just go for things. I find myself playing rather cautiously when I have any decent amount of souls. I have taken the advice of spending it whenever I get the chance, though.

Also, I played the first 12 or so hours of the game without knowing I could sprint. Haha.

It took me a good five hours to accidentally discover jumping.

Yeah I accidentally discovered jumping shortly after I was informed about sprinting by accidentally double tapping the b button.
