Been noticing a lot of Commodores with Chevy badges whilst on holidays and... why? I dont get it!

Firstly the people that have it also seem to have "Save the Australian car industry" bumper stickers wjich I find ironic but, secondly, they're trying to pretend their car is American or pretend they've imported it... niether of which I understand the point of!

can anyone help shed some light?

I'm not into cars at all, but I've also been perplexed when I've seen a Holden with a Chevy badge. If somebody put a Grado Labs badge on an Ultrasone headphone I'd be confused as all hell and wonder why the fuck they did it.

I know that sometimes you get people who can't afford the good stuff putting name-brand logos on their cheapo things (like you'll see people putting beats by dre logos on their $30 headphones), but surely that's not the reason people do that with cars?

So I agree, it's really weird, seemingly makes no sense at all and looks stupid.

Cause it gives people who bought the Commodore an impression that they have some class. It makes them less bogan buying Australian and going for an American image, in reality though its only 1 step above in the car scene.

People do the same with Barinas and Astras though, they Opel badge them. Its like they are ashamed to say they bought a Holden but they did.

I mean for me at least they didnt badge it to a completely unrelated car manufacturer. If they badged them as Fords, I would be more WTF.

On topic of cars, I hate car stickers that show all the enhancements the car supposedly has installed. Like I see a car with TRD sticker or Nismo when the car is completely stock. The sticker does not make the car more sportier

Also I hate those My Family stickers, seriously fuck your family, no one needs to know. And I am hating the religious tools out here in Sydney. Its mainly the Lebanese who either have the Rosary Beads with the crucifix if Catholic and than you get the Muslims rocking the exact same sticker but with the curved sword. Again, just fuck off.

Lol. I used to be exactly the same with regards to stickers and shit hanging from rear view mirrors. However now I have a Forza Motorsticker on my car so, if I say anything now, I'm kinda hypocritical.

Still don't have crap hanging from my mirror though.

My understanding was that some of those Holdens were built with Chevrolet engines. Could be totally wrong though. Either way, if you really want a Chevy, then fucking buy one. Don't rip the badge off your beautiful HSV that I wish I could drive and stick some American bullshit on it. Why be so ashamed?

Honestly don't have a problem with the Family stickers. I don't care about people's families but they can do whatever they want with stickers and junk. As long as you can still see out the back window and don't try to reverse into me, then go for it.

Try hards do it to impress people. The worst I've seen was someone put a Mercedes badge on a Hyundai Excel. I shit you not, I wish I had a picture.

I'm not a fan of the whole Chevy rebadge thing. It's probably not worse than have a Lancer and puttin a Ralliart sticker on it though.
The bonus for all the Chevy try hards is when Chevrolet fuck off the Commodore it's lookin like the Camaro will be available here without being an import. They can buy a real Chevy then...
