Downwell is a fun game I played for about an hour last night. A neat roguelike where you quickly grasp the rules of the game and perform better. When I first started I thought everything was too fast, but now that I get it I can smoothly move through the opening levels. I still suck at it though. |

September's games have been announced: https://blog.eu.playstation.com/2017/08/30/your-playstation-plus-games-in-september-include-infamous-second-son-rigs-child-of-light/ inFAMOUS: Second Son (PS4) Child of Light (PS4) RIGS: Mechanised Combat League (PS4 bonus title – PS VR required) That’s You (PS4 bonus title) Truck Racer (PS3) Handball 2016 (PS3) We Are Doomed (PS Vita & PS4) Hatoful Boyfriend (PS4 & PS Vita) inFamous was kind of fun, even if the main character seemed like a bit of a dickhead. I wonder if giving out VR games will become more common as a way to try and keep up demand for the headsets? |

inFAMOUS can sit alongside Just Cause 3 as something I miiiiiight play one day. My list of unplayed freebies is getting pretty big though. I've still got to get around to Invisible, Inc someday. I tried Hatoful Boyfriend earlier this year after hearing it was a wacky and funny mystery. Unfortunately it got forgotten among a bunch of indies I bought at once in a Steam sale. It was interesting from what I played. I really recommend Downwell. It's a surprisingly deep game and wicked fun once you get the hang of the gunboots and go for combos. Yes. I had a good time with it. Emily best character 4 life. It is funny just how shitty a person nearly every character is. Edited by Moo, Aug 31 2017, 05:43 PM.

Here is the first set of PS+ games for the new year: https://blog.eu.playstation.com/2017/12/27/deus-ex-mankind-divided-and-batman-the-telltale-series-join-playstation-plus-in-january/ Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (PS4) Batman: The Telltale Series (PS4) StarBlood Arena (PS Plus bonus – PS VR required) That’s You! (PS Plus bonus – PlayLink) Sacred 3 (PS3) Book of Unwritten Tales 2 (PS3) Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness (PS Vita) Uncanny Valley (PS Vita & PS4) I'd already purchased the Batman game in one of the recent sales (it might even have had a PS+ subscriber discount), so I guess I didn't learn about buying adventure games on the PS4. I guess they're back to ofering decent AAA games again with Deus Ex too. |

Mankind Divided is a very good game. If you go in knowing the story ends abruptly because they rushed the game out, it’s a real gem that I prefer over Human Revolution. |

Here's the list of games for March: Bloodborne (PS4) Ratchet and Clank (PS4) Legend of Kay Anniversary (PS3) Mighty No. 9 (PS3 and PS4) Claire: Extended Cut (PS Vita and PS4) Bombing Busters (PS Vita and PS4) https://blog.eu.playstation.com/2018/02/28/your-ps-plus-games-for-march-are-bloodborne-and-ratchet-clank/ I've never really got into the Souls games: I played a bit of Demons' Souls, but really didn't like some of the design (not being able to pause, and I was repeating so much when I died). I'm not sure whether I want to bother with Bloodbourne, even though I know it is a decent game in that genre. |

Bloodborne IMO is the pinnacle of the 'series' while Demon's Souls is apparently more of a prototype, so it'd be worth giving it a go since they've made things much smoother and tighter. It's a very hard game, but not technically flawed or cruelly dickish like the earlier games. I fuckin' own both those games and don't care about the others, crap month for the loyal gamer. |

Demon's Souls is an awesome game with an extremely steep learning curve. You don't feel like you're making any progress at all in the first couple of hours as you just keep dying and getting dumped back to the start of the very first area over and over again. It's infuriating, but then you start unlocking some shortcuts and get better at managing the grunts, and it suddenly clicks. It remains, like, really hard, but gets immensely satisfying. It ultimately felt pretty smooth and tight to me. |

I think I’d love it, but I’ve played Dark Souls since playing the sequels and the technical backwardness is glaring in comparison, especially regarding combat movement and enemy placement. Dark Souls is clunky where Bloodborne is balletic, and Bloodborne doesn’t have any needless punishment. Not that Dark Souls isn’t still an excellent game, but it’s like the rough draft of a masterpiece formula. I imagine Demon’s is another step back from that, so it’d still be worth Jamesh trying BB if he didn’t like it.

Bloodborne isn't without its flaws. The frenzy mechanic is fucking garbage and the multiplayer is easily the worst in the series. Oh and that AI hunter in Old Yharnam can SMD. |
