Finally finished Luigi's Mansion 2. It's kind of a weird game, in that it's really good, but it sometimes feels like a bit of a chore. And I think that's pretty much only because each mission takes about 10 - 20 minutes to complete (or more if you like to look in every single corner of the buildings you explore) and you kind of have to set time aside to play it. You can't just pick it up and play for a few minutes like some other games.

If it wasn't for that, and there was more checkpointing or manual saves it would be better. But it's still a great game. It's fun to find all the gems and the Boos. The Mansions are extremely well designed and the mission structure is good (despite the inability to save). Capturing ghosts is a fun mechanic and they mix things up enough with the different ghosts. The boss fights are generally fun too. It's also not a terribly difficult game, up until the final Mansion, but I think the challenge is there in some of the battles, looking for stuff and the occasional puzzle. Luigi's a great character and the little touches they include just make the game that much more pleasant. Spinning the stick around and watching him get dizzy is just such a beautiful thing.

Anyway, on to Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros. Or RE: Revelations. Not sure which one yet.

I finished off the last two story DLC packs for Fallout New Vegas. I enjoyed the Old World Blues DLC, which had many interesting characters and didn't take itself quite as seriously as the rest of the game (not that Fallout is without humour to start with).

It seemed a bit tough not having any companions and limited healing supplies, but the ingredients to craft stimpacks were there if you went out to look for them.

Lonesome Road was a weird one. The antagonist refused to tell me why he was pissed off with me for ~ half the game time, which meant I was basically just following quest markers during that time. The clues about what was going on were there to be found though, which is one of the things I like about the series.

The theme seemed to be a counterpoint to the "don't shoot the messenger" metaphor, pointing out that The Courier has choice in the jobs he takes on, and perhaps should be responsible for the consequences. However, it didn't really do a good job of making me feel responsible for the bad things that happened in the Divide.

Now that I've finished off as much of the game as I plan to, one thing I won't miss is the bugs and crashes. A game has to be very good for me to put up with that level of crap, so perhaps it is a compliment that I persisted through F:NV to get through everything I did.

That's pretty much how I felt about LM2 as well. Decent enough game but it often felt like a linear chore instead of an explorative game. Still great fun though and well presented.

IMO go Dream Team Bros as Revelations is a pile of zombie poo. Ok so it's not that bad, dialogue is typical horrible cheese but the gameplay is actually pretty good. Make sure you play with the dual stick addon thingy though so you don't go insane.

Yeah I started playing M&L, I'm five hours in and it's great fun. I'll agree with many when they say the first couple of hours are a bit slow but I wasn't too bothered.

I'm considering looking for a copy of Bowser's Inside Story and Partners In Time after this. The only one I've played is Superstar Saga emulated on my phone for a few hours. That was a fun game too, maybe I'll play it again one day.

I tried the demo for Revelations when it came out and thought it played okay without a Circle Pad Pro. I'll give it a proper shot without it but if it bothers me I'll pick one up.

Finished Assassin's Creed III: Liberation over the weekend. What an insult to the series that was! Poorly implemented mini games, a horrible story, bad voice acting and badly utilised features. It honestly felt like someone just took the AC series and did the whole "we've got to make a portable game to cash in on that market so fuck doing something good, let's just do something good enough". Gameplay was ok but the glitches made it a poor experience and the voice acting/story gave me very little to make me want to push on other than finishing it and moving on.

On the flipside it did remind me of how well they make a game with a lot happening at once. World always feels populated by individuals rather than just the same NPCs soing the same repeating tasks

I think you are way too hard on AC3 Liberation, its on Vita platform, unsure what you expected as a technical stand point.

I completed Tearaway today. I didnt really enjoy it as much as I felt like I should have based on the reviews. Still an incredibly intelligent artistic game with the best use of the Vita controls to date.

Technically I expect it to perform adequately, not with errors. Story and gameplay mechanic wise they should know better. This was a lazy game

I loved Tearaway. Definitely one of the systems best games and technically a game which should move systems (it won't, and didn't).

My only "gripe" with the game so far is that it's not challenging. It's mostly follow the apth and experience the world. The reason I put the word gripe in rabbit ears is because I'm perfectly fine with this. It certainly adds to the atmosphere and creates a better experience but goes back to that thing of interactive story or game.

Still at the early stages though. Just completed the level with the big lighthouse

My complaints towards Tearaway is that the combat wasn't particular challenging and perhaps it was due to me playing on the train in short bursts I was usable to get engaged with the story.

Parts i really appreciated was the use of controls and the drawing plus photographs etc. It was just amazing walking around a world having pictures and voice recordings I made.

I finished the story but not all the collecting on Tomb Raider last night. I have to admit it really is a good game despite blatantly ripping off Uncharted.
It does have it's own identity in ways but then in so many aspects it felt to me like I'd already played the game. The platforming aspects are similar to Uncharted but they evolved them to a higher level, yet the downside to them is they seemed to over do them to the point where the platforming bits became tedious.
The combat at the start felted shitty but alas once upgrading skill points and weapons admittedly I think I may have jumped the gun a bit on saying it was bad. It definitely was comparable to later Uncharted games combat. Weapon and skill upgrades where a great positive of the game. I also think that being able to further inspect some of the collectibles added a nice touch.
I liked the design of the Island though, the game seemed to flow through and it was interesting how they had inter connected all the areas together.
In true Tomb Raider style it did have a few puzzles, which weren't overly hard but did add something to the gameplay. I found the instinct skill, similar to detective mode from the Arkham games, to be unnecessary.

I'll give the game an 7.5/10 which would have been higher had they not borrowed aspects off other games and some aspects of the game hadn't hit a bit of tedium.

Do you mark down Uncharted for the parts they borrowed from older Tomb Raider games? :)

Nope, but Uncharted felt fresh, this didn't. This is more like the original Uncharted, than the original Uncharted is like the original Tomb Raider.
Admittedly I didn't like Uncharted 3 though because it just felt like 'same old, same old' if that'll help.

It 'borrowed' some of Drakes Fortune's plot, expanded on the platforming, had many buildings falling apart a la Uncharted series. In some ways with weapons and upgrades felt similar to Far Cry and the instinct mode felt like Arkhams Detective mode.

Story wise:
Spoiler: click to toggle

What are your thoughts on it?
