I've bought Tales of the Borderlands but haven't played it yet, so can't yet compare them. If you like GoT, you'll probably enjoy the game. The main characters in the story are original (not appearing in the books or on TV), but you do interact with established characters who are voiced by their TV actors. The game starts during the Red Wedding, and plays out a bit past Joffrey's death. The game mechanics are pretty much standard Telltale fare, but they went for a new art style that resembles an oil painting. About the only change is that you now control a number of characters, with control switching each chapter of the episode (kind of like in the books). A number of the characters I played as died. If you're only going to get one of the games, I've heard a lot more praise for the Borderlands game though, so that might be worth a look. |

I may just spring for both because they're only $13 and $10 right now.

I guess that's one other new thing they did in the game. If you have a Telltale account, you can view extra stats about your choices on their website. Here's one of mine from episode 5:

If you enjoy losing harder than the last TV season of Game of Thrones. Or enjoy being presented inconsequential dilemmas that dont really change anything. Or enjoy being amused at the game even attempting to present stuff like "Kill Ramsey Bolton". Or want to see an Asian guy in Essos. Or see Margery with notably smaller eyes as well as carrying completely different personality. Or want to see character fan-service tie-ins of Jon Snow, Danerys and Tyrion. Then Telltale's Game of Thrones is for you. Edit 2: There was not a single set of boobs shown Edited by Red Panda, Nov 30 2015, 01:21 PM.

I dun got it already. Ah well. I'm wrapping up the Bloodborne DLC. The layout feels more like Souls than Bloodborne, with looping pathways, captivating environment transitions, mysterious locked doors and pathways, and no dead ends. The four bosses I've played so far are good, but only the optional one stands out. Visually, all but one are adapted from things in the base game, with the 2nd seeming particularly lazy on that front. They are harder than late game bosses but easier than those in deeper chalice dungeons. The environments beyond the first boss are among the game's best; one is disturbing and also oddly cute at points. The lore is front and centre and there's some good stuff. Overall, I'd say it's got better environments than Artorias or the Abyss, but the latter's bosses are much better. Edit: The final boss is very good too. In both that and the optional boss battle I won with zero blood vials and a sliver of health. Edited by Moo, Nov 29 2015, 03:30 PM.

I realized on New Game+ that Bloodborne is extremely short if you're beefed up and hightail it to the bosses. I played from beginning to end in about 3 hours, also beating four optional bosses. The game took me 35+ hours the first time. I was beefed up as shit though so I was able to just lay into some bosses without much need for health or skill. The only fights that forced me to slow down and play properly were Amelia, who I think might be my new favourite boss, and Paarl.

I'm losing interest in Telltale. The Walking Dead S1 is the only noteworthy game in my book. I found TWDS2 and TWAU mediocre, and Game of Thrones is even worse. I've already bought Tales from the Borderlands, so hopefully it makes up for it. |

Glad it isn't just me ![]() I loved Walking dead season one and found myself looking forward to playing the next chapter. I'm not sure why but S2 didn't give me the same feeling, so I never bought any other telltale games. I watched my housemate finish GoT and was really underwhelmed by it. I think they had a great thing going but may have oversaturated it |

I thought TWAU was pretty good, but S2 TWD was just OK. S1 is definitely the best of theirs I've played. I've also played some of Back to the Future, which I stopped playing shortly into episode 2 because it was too much of a traditional point and click, historical flaws and all. A shame because I think it was a pretty good adaptation, otherwise. The only other thing of theirs I've been interested in is their Borderlands game since I heard it was good, and I've played Borderlands 1 and 2 which I enjoyed the flavour of so I think it would work to have a more story orientated game in that setting. I couldn't tell you the first thing about the actual plot in Borderlands 1 and 2. Unless TWD S3 (which I assume and hope is the conclusion) is a notoriously bad bomb, I'll get it, I'd like to see what happens. I'm not hyped or excited for it, though. Never read or watched any GoT so I don't care about that. Edited by Doomguy, Dec 2 2015, 12:35 PM.

I enjoyed The Wolf Among Us. It does feel like they've been treading water since TWD season 1 though. That game probably had the largest number of changes relative to previous Telltale games (consequences extending across episodes, minimising traditional point+click puzzles, global stats on decisions), but it is hard to point at much they've done since then. The only real new non-story features GoT brought to the table were a new art style (I'm kind of glad that they've stopped using cell shading for everything now), and even more stats available on their website. So when the story disappoints, there isn't really much to fall back on. The other weird thing is that the decisions I made in GoT weren't really that much more "futile" than the decisions in previous TT games, since you always get roughly the same result in these games: the difference this time is that I didn't really like the outcome. Separate from that, I guess the other difference is that the outcomes in this game seemed to primarily be due to actions of the antagonists, while in other games they're often due to (uncontrollable) actions by the protagonist. I get that they were trying to match the tone of the books/TV, but it felt a bit off. While Robb Stark's quest to become king in the books is ultimately futile, he still has his victories. And when he does fall, it is his own actions that partially cause this. It felt like we never really got to have these small intermediate victories in the game. |

Now that you mention it, there's definitely a cause and effect relationship between protagonist's flaws and their fate in the books. Ned is too honourable, Robb is also too honourable, Joffrey is a prick etc. None of the Forresters' suffering derives from their own actions; they just react to stuff and are one-dimensional.
