Yesterday I finally finished my initial playthrough of Gunpoint that I started months ago, I remembered how much I enjoyed the game so I started a new game immediately and I just finished that second playthrough now. It's a really cool game. The difficulty curve is just right and it never gets too frustrating to get through a mission. The game mechanics themselves are really fun and there are a few cool and funny things you can do. I got to keep track of the story this time too, and it's actually pretty good. It's well written and the dialogue is quite funny. It just has a great overall style to it and the gameplay adds to that style. If anybody hasn't played it by now and you like puzzle games, you should check it out. Edited by Twisted, Feb 8 2015, 04:56 PM.

Finally finished Transistor. Seems I was right at the end anyway Taking a break was a good idea as it made me re-learn how to play. As a result I started using flood() which I'd not used before. Spammed that with a jaunt() at the end and was able to beat most of the guys (inc the boss).Noticed guys having quirks with the trophies in another thread (getting trophies for Transistor when playing Roguie LEgacy). Strange as I'm not getting trophies that I should (e.g. finish a fight with 5 limiters in use). I meet the requirements but the trophies don't pop. Oh well. Now to decide whether I'm going to play thru iot again on the new game +_ equivalent or not. I'll quite keen to try it as I'm about 2/3 of the way thru completing the character and I'd like to see what a full build of processes does |

I felt like Gunpoint could have done alot more with its mechanics. It didnt really stretch its legs out as much as I hoped. But i quite enjoyed it, even the narrative/writing was generally entertaining. For Transistor, The New Game+ is well worth it. Since you can double up on functions you can use. But it's so easily exploitable with certain combos that's game breaking. There are more challenges to access too - which I enjoyed for the sake of just playing it for the combat system. All the encouters are redone for New Game+ as well. |

I find that the function that charms the enemy can be a little OP. You can usually charm all the enemies then use the downtime to recharge your turn. Boring and slow but effective. Challenge rooms are still fun though. Enjoying playing around with all the combos there.

There's a powerful combination that's only available for New Game+ where you dont even need to use Turn() to clear enemy encounters. I'm not gonna spoil what it is, but it's strong enough that you can just bomb the combined skill at your feet as things die quickly in an area around you, plus you can adjust it to gain health from the kills. But i dont mind some combos, just as long as the systems in the game are enjoyable enough for experimentation to figure it out. Edited by Red Panda, Feb 11 2015, 09:38 PM.

Is it possible to beat Transistor without setting up your turns? Like as an ultra challenge? I'll finish Transistor on the weekend. I got up to the 2nd form of the final boss in Rogue Legacy and I just don't really care to finish it. It's a good game, but out of the two roguelikes I've played Binding of Isaac is shitloads better. |

It's probably possible, but frustrating with the rather annoying enemies that gets introduced late into the game. Listening to the awesome soundtrack get filtered out, while the hum channels in while setting up the turn is half the fun. |

Finished up Kick & Fennick - enjoyable platformer for the most part. Some frustrating parts. Good to play in between games. Whoa Dave! No. Just no. |

Managed to grab Life is Strange on G2A for like $13, so I jumped on and finished the 1st episode. Quite liked the 1st episode. Two things that stuck out immediately is the shaky writing and voice acting (main characters are good, ambient ones are not). But I'm more cautious about where the script is going, as I'd rather have the scope of the game to keep it within the small 'slice of life' vibe that it had surrounding Kate, the security guard and Chloe (which is where the writing shined). Hopefully the revelation at the end of the episode was more metaphorical than literal. I love how I can just dick around with choices and rewind without having to reload, I also like how my curiosity/exploration is rewarded, but I cant shake off how clamped down some moments are in terms of choice: Yes I can sleuth around one thing, but on another, the protagonist gets in the way of me wanting to see what's in that USB? It's a minor thing, but the inconsistencies are there even though the rewind system could allow the game to stretch its legs with the choices you can make or even improve on the existing simple adventure 'puzzles' that the game presents to you, as the games' relaxed pacing could easily support it. The teen fiction high school setting is really convincing despite some moments where it felt like some 50 year old had a stab at modern youth culture. Still, the setting and tone is more realised than say Bully or Persona regardless of its attachment to the typical archetypes it sticks to. I already feel like the whole teen angst thing is as sharp as The World Ends With You despite being 1 episode in. Max is a great character. Takes a few pages from April Ryan but that's not really a bad thing. Max is subtley flawed and even without April's humor, confidence and enthusiasm, Max is still rather entertaining and likable with those self-reflective observations that you can trigger which adds alot of colour to what could've been a rather boring protagonist next to a thoroughly excellent one (Chloe). Also, the soundtrack is bitchin' Edited by Red Panda, Feb 26 2015, 10:25 AM.

Finished Adventure Time: The Secret of the Nameless Kingdom last night. It's like a very badly made Zelda clone with an Adventure Time skin and almost no story. I think I would have enjoyed it more on console as , in a couple of instances, I got stuck and looked up a guide. On consoles you can see puzzle elements (like a torch you have to light with a fireball) but, on the 3DS, they were off screen. Seems a pretty big oversight to have made in a port |

I tried the demo for Life is Strange but couldn't get past that teen dialogue. |

The teen dialogue is overplayed, but if you can get past it, I think you'll find the characters will grow on you and tell a decent story. |

I finished Wolfenstein The New Order this morning. The final boss was frustratingly difficult and completely out of whack with the rest of the game. Kind of annoying TBH. Story was shit (if you're playing this for the story though you're doing it wrong). End was shit. Hollywood moments were stupid. Gameplay was fantastic and I enjoyed it from start to... just before that final boss fight. Really looking forward to the next one. |

I loved the story! I thought it was a great spin on Wolfenstein and had me hooked throughout the whole thing. |
