I liked Saints Row 4. The game play reminded me more of Prototype than of SR3.

Given that it reuses much of the SR3 map, it might be worth taking a break rather than playing them back to back. That said, the different play style gives you a different perspective on it though.

I'm glad I haven't been playing the episodes as they come out, that would drive me nuts. People seem all around disappointed with TWD season 2, seems like a shame.
I haven't finished Season 2 yet but so far I'm liking it. Not sure what people's complaints are but it's been good for the first few chapters.
Main thing I don't like is that it's more illusion of choice rather than actually giving you a choice IMO.
It'd be better if they had the time to have multiple endings (although it would limit the ability for sequels)
Season two has a few pacing issues at the beginning. I wasn't a fan of the first two episodes, but as it progressed and your character choices start to become apparent, it gets really good. Has a great ending as well. Still questioning my decisions. The Walking Dead S2 does have multiple endings.

With Telltale games, I always wait until the whole game is out before playing/buying. I'm not a fan of the episodic nature of them.

That's a good point, luckily I played SR3 only a few months after it came out so it shouldn't be a problem for me now. I don't think I'm going to play it anytime soon anyway.

GTA 5 for PC is only a couple of months away and assuming my hardware can handle it and it's not a shitty port then I'll be buying it pretty soon after it's out.

I'm a little worried that playing SR2, SR4 and GTA5 within 6 months of each other might hurt my experience with GTA 5.

Just finished off Tomb Raider. Whilst the game mechanics were ok the story was so on the nose I could barely stand it. Add the ludo narrative and I almost wish they'd ditched the concept of a story and just made it have none

The core movement mechanics of Tomb Raider pretty much saved the game. It was so slick, agile, responsive and seamless in a way that made all of the good-but-not-great elements pretty enjoyable to play. I loved that you can just avoid damage through straight up mobility and dodging rather than the usual of sitting idly in cover behind a awesome looking chest high wall.

I probably disliked its Ubisoft-esque Upgrade System™ that the game had more than the narrative.

I finished off South Park: The Stick of Truth for a second time today. This time I picked the mage class to see how the game adapted. Unfortunately it played almost identically to my jew play through. You've got the same weapons available, same fart attacks, but different power attacks. And despite having different power attacks they filled similar roles, such as having an attack that would affect a single enemy and remove layers of armour, and the last power being an expensive one that damages all enemies. I did try to play it a bit differently, relying on weapons and patches that would regenerate PP and also played with status effects a bit more, but I could have done the same as a jew.

Despite that, I still enjoyed the game. It's rare to find a game adapted from a licensed work that is both fun to play and true to the source material.

Just beat dark souls. Overall I loved it, and look back very on it very favourably. I'll definitely be picking up Dark Souls II in the Steam sales. I must say I was genuinely surprised when I beat it because the final boss was fucking easy. Beat him first try. I was kind of wanting to play the DLC, but I didn't realise I was going to go back to the start of the game when I beat that boss. I also assumed when I was back to the asylum that I'd be able to warp around but I can't, so am I just fucked and can't do the DLC now (short of the doing everything again up to the part I need to access it)?

You're screwed unfortunately. You'd need to play up to The Duke's Archives to access it.

It's definitely a game worth playing twice. It'd be a shame if you missed out on the DLC because it has some of the best boss fights in the game. It's also worth playing the game again and checking out the Dark Souls wikis while you play, because there's a heap of non-DLC stuff you would have missed (like two whole unique areas that are accessed from a ridiculously hidden entrance).

I thought Gwyn was pretty easy, but it kinda made dramatic sense because Gwyn is like a relic from an older age clutching onto existence at that point. The music complements that.

So did Bed of Chaos make you want to uninstall the game?

Damn, well I really don't want Dark Souls to be over just yet and I'm pretty strong so actually attempting just tearing through it up to Duke's Archives might not actually be that unfeasible. But at the same time I wonder if I'll just feel burned out on it. I don't know, I'll try it and see. I just know I'll be annoyed if I don't get to see that DLC content because I want to see more of this game.

Haha, yeah I've gotta say I honestly think that the entire Demon Ruins section of the Lordvessel chapter of the game was the hardest. Everything else ended up feeling easier by comparison, though maybe I just adapted to them better. I left Tomb Of The Giants to last because that's what felt hardest at the time when I played a few months ago. But coming at it again today with a fresh mentality I did it in one short sitting no worries, it was surprisingly easy. Bed Of Chaos was the boss I had to retry the most of any in the game. The biggest issue was just falling down / getting knocked into the holes. Outside of that it's actually a very straightforward fight.

The order that you do the Lordvessel areas strongly affects how hard they'll be, because you level up a lot between the first and last. I did TotG last on my first playthrough and breezed through it, but did it early in my second playthrough and loathed it. The journey to the first bonfire, where you have to run the gauntlet of the wheel-riding skeletons before fighting/evading the giant skeletons in the dark, is seared into my memory. Altogether I think The Duke's Archives are the most frustrating Lordvessel area because of those god-awful wizards that launch magic beams at you. But the initial run from the top of Blighttown to the bottom takes the cake. It's a clusterfuck.

Oh and did you find The Painted World of Aramis? That's another area that's a little out of the way, though not too hard to find.

I keep forgetting about online play. Those areas that I said are ridiculously hidden probably aren't if you're playing online and reading the messages people leave. Hell you might have been in The Great Hollow already, I don't know.

No I never found the great hollow. I just looked up how to get there and I don't even remember going to that end of the bottom area of blight town. I only went the other way towards the lair and valley of drakes. I doubt I would have found it.

Well the areas I missed outside of the DLC are further motives to keep playing. I just wish I'd known before beating the game, haha.

This isn't actually that bad, I've been able to skip so many areas and I've flown through it. I went to Blighttown from the Undead Parish via the darkroot basin and the valley of drakes. I've rung the second bell so now I'm ready to make the trek up the tower to Anor Londo. While I was in Blighttown I did the Great Hollow and the Ash Lake, which was pretty cool. Once I can warp I'll look up what other areas I missed before I go to the DLC areas.
