Played and completed Beyond Two Souls all in a day yesterday Didn't really intend to but I was supervisoring contractors and had nothing else to do. Took a long, long time so I was glad I'd decided to bring in my PS3 ![]() Really, really enjoyed the experience for the most part. Some bits dragged on a bit (like the military ops or the farm or the final chapter) but I enjoyed the story and making my various choices. I have to wonder as to the point of failure in these games. It's pretty hard to fail and, when I purposfully tried, the effects were minimal. Anyway, great story, great graphics (for the people), etc. However I'm a big fan of Page and Dafoe so I was always gonna be a ltitle biased

Bioshock Infinite Burial At Sea. Pretty good example of why I don't like DLC. Costs way too much and isn't as good as the main game. Uninstalled before I could get through episode 2. |

Just finished Killzone Shadowfall. Was really impressed with the direction they took the campaggin. Actually introduced some versatility and interesting levels. It still lacked that special "something" to make it great but it was thoroughly enjoyable and much more then the predeeding horde arena fighters. Story was ok but the end credits were HOIRRIBLE! Here's a spoiler free thing showing what I mean. Just the music and explosions; watch 10 seconds and you'll see what I mean. Wasn't really in context with the game either so I'm not sure what they were going for other than "oh this has worked in movies and had an impact so let's try it for our end credits"! |

I don't think I missed out at all. I must've got at least 3/4 through episode 2 before tiring of it (I got back from Columbia to Rapture through the tear machine and escaped Ryan's goons). I didn't mind the story, it provided some cool insight into the events of both Bioshock 1 and Infinite. However I've got to the point in gaming where story can go fuck itself if I don't like the gameplay and I just got so sick of the forced stealth in episode 2. It got really, really slow and repetitious for me and I just wasn't going to force myself to try and enjoy it anymore. And I have to put it into context. Bioshock Infinite was the worst gameplay wise of the 3 games for me due to it being the most dumbed down. And then the DLC, despite wisely dispensing with the two weapon limit, ended up feeling even more limited again due to the forced stealth. I really just don't liked games where stealth is forced, to me it's only fun when you're choosing to do it. A good example is Batman Arkham, or hell, even Skyrim. I'm glad I only paid $6 and $7 respectively for each episode, I don't know where the fuck they get off charging $20 for something as criminally short as that first episode, holy shit. TLDR; Episode 1 was highway robbery and Episode 2 was slow and repetitive relative to the fun, fast paced combat of Infinite. Classic DLC sold at a premium price but not matching the price of the better value main game. |

That's one of the things I loved about Dishonored. The option of stealth vs a direct approach was always there. Stealth was obviously favoured as it made things much easier but the options were still there. Killzone tried to do a similar thing but didn't pull it off as well. There was still a lot of learning by dying which didn't suit the gameplay in Killzone like it does in a game like Dark Souls. Final mission was kinda fun as they gave you a time limit and invisibility cloak. Was fun trying to avoid walking near citizens, guards and scanning cameras. Wish there had been a few more lefvels like that in the game. |

Yeah, Dishonored was fantastic. It's probably the closest to a pure stealth game that I actually like, but of course it's not pure. You can definitely kick ass but you will get overwhelmed trying to just go all combat. The stealth due to the supernatural powers was a good mix of being both forgiving but also fun to play with. |

Not to mention, Dishonored's DLC was not too bad, either. |

I politely disagree with your assessment of Bioshock Infinite's DLC, but it sounds like you weren't a fan of Bioshock Infinite's gameplay that much as it is which is understandable. I loved how Bioshock Infinite wrapped up the story of Bioshock. The final moments of that DLC is great. Dishonored was fantastic, but man, the ending of the 'good' finish (where you hadn't killed anyone) really killed the game for me. Such a kick in the nuts. I need to play through that again with the killing playthrough. |

It's really more a matter of personal gameplay preferences than the actual quality of the DLC. I'll probably watch a Let's Play of the rest of it to see what happens. And yeah Bioshock Infinite was somewhat disappointing in a few areas, gameplay wise. I liked the rail things which were fun to hop on and jump down to kill somebody with, and gave the levels a lot more vertical space to use. I also liked having different tactical options with opening tears to choose from. However, only being able to carry two guns, zero consequences for running out of anything ("Booker, catch!") and way too many standard "It shoots bullets" weapons ("I've got a great idea guys, let's have 4 version of the SMG!") compared to the classic "unique weapons which each have their own function" design of the previous 2 games really didn't do much for me. So yeah, it was the worst of the three to actually play, but I still found it enjoyable. It was still fun... Just not as much so. I still got through the game without tiring from it or anything. However, I think it had the best story of the three games. Edited by Doomguy, Sep 3 2014, 01:44 PM.

Yeah, do have a look at the Let's Play video of it because the ending is really great in my opinion and really ties all games together nicely and works as a great finale for the Bioshock series. |
