Fourth time finishing Guacamelee and still just a perfect game. So funny. So good. The hard mode is a worthy hard mode. |

Just finished Child of Light. Very underwhelming. I didn't like the way the story was told; the whyming didn't let me connect with the character so, as a result, I felt that there was little growth and I didn't feel connected with the characters or their story. Pretty cookie cutter characters and the end was predictable and unsatisfying. All that said I really enjoyed the combat and that was the one thing that kept me going. A nice take on the traditional turn based system with a decent mix of characters and skills. Down side was that each character only had 2 to four skills which made them fairly limited in use. There's only so much you can vary the fighting with limited skills and, by the end, they extended fights by increased HP rather than varying tactics. Final boss was clever though. Weak in power but made good use of buffs. It was a very well rounded game that ticked all the right boxes for polish and style but, in my case, just failed to bring it together well and didn't hit it off with me. Looks like you were hit with a typical case of Ubisoft Game. |

Just finished Far Cry 3. Pretty good game, think it plays really very well. The story was clearly trying but I just found myself not caring in the least and wishing it wasn't there. It just got in the way. Spoiler: click to toggle Overall a pretty good game, but I think I'm going to enjoy Blood Dragon a lot more if it ramps up the fan factor even more, doesn't take itself seriously (which Far Cry 3 does and doesn't work in it's favour ultimately) and provides a laugh. I haven't played it yet but I read that there are three endings and one is a real letdown. Maybe you got that one? |

I played Alan Wake's American Nightmare today. I meant to play it when I played Alan Wake last year but never did. Recently I've had a hankering to play it to feel the great combat again and American Nightmare satisfied that quite well. I liked the story, cool idea for a spin-off. I wish Remedy made more games more often. Maybe I'll play the Max Payne series again while I wait for their next game. Edited by Twisted, Aug 27 2014, 09:16 PM.

I agree, I preferred the original season not only in the overall plot and emotional investment, but also in gameplay. Season 2 was too non-interactive and had almost no puzzles at all, and the first season was already quite lean in the department by Point & Click standards. Season 2 did have a higher overall quality to it with the graphics and sound, though. I liked The Wolf Among Us noticeably more than Season 2, I found it's story better and it didn't suffer from the lack of gameplay as much. But it's still a good game, I think I can agree with a 7/10 score. |

Just finished "Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons". Holy shit... wow! The end couple of chapters made everything worthwhile in a big way. I loved the control differences especially in that last bit. Was a decent experience and could only have had that effect in the game format but, as a game, it's probably not something I'll revisit. Scenery, graphics and angles for shots (am I allowed to call them shots? I avoided the use of the word camera )were amazing. Such a beautifully presented game!

Yeah I figured you'd "get it" at the end, haha. That's really what makes the game, though of course the rest of the game is relevant to the end actually having some weight. It is a great little game. |
