A thread for people to post their thoughts on games they have finished. Different from a full review and just designed to be a paragraph or two stating your thoughts and experiences. Good for people curious as to whether they'd like a game ![]() Don't forget to use spoilers if you're going to mention stuff that may spoil a storyline or whatever. To use a spoiler enter the following text but delete the space between the first [ and the word spoiler.
So the above would show as name for the spoiler tag

Last night I finished Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate... I finished it at 96% which means I was a measly 4% off getting a special cutscene ![]() Whilst it felt like a cut down/linear version of Castlevania I really enjoyed it. The story was predictable (as always) but interesting and the gameplay was solid. You play the game over 3 acts and, in each act, you take on the role of a certain character. Whilst experience and base combos carry over between characters the weapons and special skills they have don't meaning that it feels like 3 small games rather than one big game. If you're a big fan of games like Symphony of the Night or Portrait of Ruin you may not like this installment as, whilst it has a very familiar format, levels are much more restrictive than those and there's not a lot of back tracking or discovery to be had. Items/skills are given to you about the same time as obstacles are presented and most just involve pressing R when in front of an object. No strategic level design where you revisit areas and find your double jump now enables you to reach blah blah blah. Shame really as thee's a map notation system and it would have been more fun running back to old obstacles and seeing if you could overcome them. Anyway it was great fun and I strongly recommend it if you're a Castlevania fan... or even if you're not. Not the best in the series but a solid and enjoyable game ![]() |

The Puppeteer and for any one who doesnt own this game, get it. I am an old school platformer guy who has always enjoyed the genre and even if you dont appreciate it that much, the game still delivers. I immediately think of Chamboosy and his affection for Rayman and I even think that he would consider this game as a contender for best platformer. I have Rayman Legends still sealed so I cant really comment other than my experience with Origins and the Legends Demo and Puppeteer may even be better. I also think of Mystic_knight and his love for 3D and this game easily does the best job of all with utilising 3D. I dont even like 3D and I wanted to play this game in 3D because it was done so well. Also thought about Chickan liking this game for the fact that I can picture not only himself liking it but getting his kids involved. It offers a soft co op experience where Chickan can let his kids enjoy the marvel of the show and he can control the secondary character. The art for this game is simply amazing, the battles for bosses are always varied and the level designs had me smiling on how good it is. It also has some replay value in collecting puppet heads to use special moves which when you use them, often results in a humourous scene or dialogue. I dont often rant about games but this is one that I feel that some of you guys should look into playing. |

I dunno about Mistake Night but Chamboosy and I are already all over this. Unfortunately I haven't given it proper time yet but reading what you write is making me think I should have priorotised it better. Curse you Nintendo! |

Thanks for the rant. I've got it on my pile of games to play but just haven't gotten around to it. Would have loved if they released it on the Vita as well as it looks like a game the Vita could handle nicely. |

I played through flOw on the Vita, since they made the Vita and PS4 versions cross-buy with the PS3 version. It has the same motion controls as the PS3 version, but the downside is that the screen tilts when you tilt the controller. You can reset the centre point for the tilt controls by holding the L and R buttons, but I sometimes found it difficult to pick an orientation that was comfortable. The port looks great, and plays smoothly and the sound is good (not too difficult for such a simple game). It lacks the multi-player feature of the original, but that isn't too surprising. For the trophy whores, it also comes with its own set of trophies separate from the PS3 version. |

I finished The Walking Dead a little while back. Awesome game, but most notably it's the first game to ever make me cry. Dat emotional investment. |

@Heretix I actually finally managed to complete Mass Effect, not only the first game but all 3 of them. I remember you being a big fan of the series and I also recall telling you that I had tried at least 3 times to get the series started before giving up. Bottom line is Im glad I did them. |

@Chickan, well I didn't find that it was about what was inevitable or not, it was about how such a bleak fate strains the relationships that were made. I just felt so bad for Clem all things considered. The way the characters were written felt like the most realistic I'd experienced in a game so I found myself more invested and attached to them than normal. @Ben, awesome! Yeah it's a fantastic trilogy, well worth it once you get hooked. What was your favourite? I think 2 is clearly the worst of the three, which is saying something because it's still a great game. I really didn't think 3 would ever come close to matching the experience of the first for me, but I feel like it's damn close between the two. I'd say they're kind of even, they're just different. The first has the best balance of combat, exploration and dialogue for me. It also has the best atmosphere and the most compelling overarching plot of the three. But 3 has the most refined combat, best presentation, best cast and probably the best storytelling in terms of the strength of the dialogue. Tough call, but the first probably just edges it out for me. I wonder if you would like KOTOR Edited by Doomguy, Dec 18 2013, 10:35 AM.

YES! You fucking legend! I've been alone in my preference of 1 and 3 over 2 for a long time but now someone's finally come along who agrees ![]() I prefered the gameplay and story of 1 over 2. 2's story felt like a rewrite of number 1 whose sole purpose was to provide a bridge to 3 and introduce remaining concepts. I also thought the gameplay devolved into much more of a 1. enter room/area obviously setup for battle 2. engage waves of enemies 3. Once defeated proceed to next area/room 4. Goto 1 The level design was good but felt like I was fighting in arenas rather than battling in normal environments. I also liked the RPG elements better in #1. I especially liked the way your bulklets rarely hit exactly where you were aiming until you'd investing some experience points in them. Made you feel that the points did something rather than the normal shooter mechanic of, if you're good at FPS, putting points into guns doesn't really matter. Remember how much the sniper swayed the first time you used it ? ![]() I thought #3 was nicely polished with a better "world" than #2 but the gameplay felt actioney and more dumbed down. That said I really liked that and thoroughly enjoyed playing it. Miranda's ass was best in #3. Miranda's ass is better than Liaras. You can keep your blue tinged strange Ben! |

Yep, 2 did indeed have that problem. The basic core mission design felt copy and pasted into different scenarios and areas. And yes, 2 had by far the most dumbed-down RPG elements. Luckily three brought it back in the right direction but the first is still the most complete and proper RPG, worth dealing with the cumbersome inventory system to actually have some depth. I didn't find that the gameplay was any more dumbed down in 3 than in 2, felt the same just with more inventory and levelling depth. C'mon mufuggah, Liara > Miranda. If you like dating someone who constantly dresses like a prostitute then fine, but I'll take the sexy, classy, alien scientist over the cerberus hoe any day. Liara's face > Miranda's face. Liara's ass is great anyway, she doesn't constantly show it

Just went to look them up and do some comparisons... I remember Miranda's face being... less square. Anyway she's still better than Liara. Probably letting some of their virtual personality seep in there though. I didn't like how Liara buggered off to work for the information trader then pretended she knew nothing about me and Cerberus. Come on! You're the universes greatest information gatherer and loads of other people knew! Bitch. ![]() ![]() I also thought Tali was pretty awesome but that was probably mystery plus a cool accent. Not much you could tell behind that mask! ![]() Last but not least I quite liked EDI. Then again that could be because she was a cyborg that looked like a naked busty chick in silver body paint ![]() ![]() All the males were ugly |

Yeah Tali and EDI were both good, too. I guess I have a soft spot for the cast of the first game. My favourite character overall is Garrus. I played femshep and ended up going with him as the final romance option. He's my bro. |

He may be your bro but you're his bitch. ![]() I never went a femShep. Started one once but couldn't get her looking "right". Always looked fine in the character creation then all wrong when she started to speak. Almost needed an "animate" button in the character creation screen so you could see what the character would look like in game |
