For today only Wolfenstein: The New Order is $24 using that voucher there at checkout.

Doom 3: BFG Edition is $6, has anyone played the BFG edition? Is it worth it? You can get the full game and the expansion separately for a total of $4, but I'd also like to play the first 2 Doom games and they come with BFG. BFG isn't moddable either and to be honest I'm not really sure if I'll mod the game or not.

It does come with the 'duct tape' mod already in the game though.

Sad thing is that I quite enjoyed the suspense of the game as it was. The ability to see with a torch all the time took that away a little I felt.

Yeah I half liked the idea of being able to use the torch while holding a gun, video games scare me easily. However I think you're right Chickenman, it does seem to detract from the original's atmosphere a little.

I suppose if I really want to be able to use the flashlight and gun at the same time, there's a mod for it right?

But then I really wanted the original games too. What do?

DOOM 3 is poop. Get DOOM 1 and 2 and play them in Brutal DOOM mod. The superior DOOM experience.

Yeah I just saw Brutal Doom a couple of weeks ago, looks awesome and that's why I want BFG edition. I might just get that one, it's the original two games I want most anyway.

How about this as an alternative... if you've played and loved Doom 1 and 2 don't expect #3 to be anything like them at all. Aside from feeling a little similar and sharing concepts the gameplay is totally changed.

I liked what Doom 3 was but many didn't. Then again many people hated Duke Nukem because it was exactly like the older games. Can't fucking win sometimes. We'll see what Quake 5 brings

I never played Doom at all. I only played Duke Nukem 3D, Wolfenstien 3D and Shadow Warrior as a kid. Mostly Duke though. I just never owned or knew anybody that owned Doom. I always got the feeling I'd like Doom 3, just never got to play it.

When you talk about Duke Nukem there, are you talking about Forever? Because I liked DNF, I thought it got far more criticism than it deserved, and Gamespot's 3 was way too harsh. It wasn't great by any means, it was a solid shooter. I don't remember what people's complaints about it were though. All I know is I enjoyed it.

Well, you can probably still find the shareware version of the original Doom somewhere if you want to try before you buy. You'll get the first quarter of the game to see if you like it.

Nah it's okay I'm sure I'll like it. Even if I don't, for $6, whatever.

Sure am. I loved the way it felt like a 3D version of a 2D shooter. Loads of ammo, boss fights, stupid humor... everything. I had so much fun playing it

They should rename DOOM 3 "PDA Simulator 2004"

I played a lot of Quake and Quake 2. Why isn't there a new Quake game?

And Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
And Quake Live

Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing a proper sequel to Quake 1.
