@Mystic

I was brought up as a Catholic but I'm pretty meh to the whole thing at the moment. I don't think people should be persecuted for their religion or beliefs though. I work at a college so I meet people of all different types of race and religion. As a younger man I probably was borderline racist, but fortunately people grow and become more accepting of things, including me. Hopefully the people you speak of have matured.

Your views on drugs and drug use are welcome too. We all know I've probably consumed enough drugs to kill an African elephant. Some of it I regret, some I don't. I'm sort of in agreement with you that drugs are shrouded in negativity yet I have had some epic nights and met some great people through it.

You won't be seeing Bioshockraptor for a while. I suppose it's not right to post other people's crap but he did put it up on a number of public sites so...

By the time you're reading this, I will be set apart as a full-time missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Tomorrow morning I will be flying to Provo, Utah to attend a two month training program at the Missionary Training Centre. Afterwards, I'll be serving the people of Fukuoka, Japan, and will be sharing something I know to be true, that has blessed my life and that I have seen bless others' around me; the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.

To focus on the service I won't be using social networking sites, so if you wish to keep in contact with me, ask what I'm up to, or just chat about the weather, e-mail me at **********@myldsmail.net and I have an allocated time every week to check and reply. My Mum and Sister will be taking care of my facebook and instagram pages, and will update them from time to time.
I thank you for all the friendships you have given me, and all the great times I've had. I love you all - you who have influenced me, been an example to me, shown me kindness or have just kept my facebook feed a positive place.

I will miss you all and I wish you all the best of luck in the future. Remember, your Heavenly Father loves you and wants what's best for you. He will help and direct you if you humble yourself and lean upon Him and the teachings of the Gospel.

I leave you all with my testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ - that through him we can achieve anything, we can be comforted, we can be strengthened and most of all we can find the missing puzzle piece; the answers we need to keep us going. We can find peace and true happiness.

With love, Elder Wheeler.

Actually plays into the religion thing we were talking about before. Things like this and the whole "Eldar" status/title thing really grind my gears however his intentions are good so my response was this

Just because I find that kind of blind faith destructive doesn't mean I have to point it out to everyone I meet and he's a nice guy doing a nice, self sacrificing thing for others. If someone helps someone else out of a situation does it matter if it's because of their religious beliefs, that it makes them feel better, that it was done for a bet, whatever?

I appreciate your attitude and outlook on the issue, and to be quite honest, here is no reason why everyone can't have the same, mature attitude you have. Unfortunately the Anti's just wish to make noise and cause trouble. But i really appreciate your honesty and look on this Baylo.

Yeah I wonder if he plays Missionary the same way he did COD. Lots of running around yelling right in people's ears so noone else could be heard and causing mayhem :)

Oh and welcome to DAFAP N-man. Glad you decided to come check it out

Fuckin hell he became a Missionary instead of doing the Missionary, I take it back.

I'm of the same opinion with the blind religion thing too Dave.
At the end of the day it's his choice and if he thinks he's going to do good in the world then good on him.

The problem, as I see it, is that you have to measure what it is you're accepting.

Take a strongly religious person. What they believe is one thing. It may be a good thing that allows them to lead a socially good life, provides them comfort in times of need, etc. I respect that they choose to believe in something I don't.

Now take it to the next level where we have a religious person who relies on their religion a bit heavier. These people thank god/s for everything good that happens and make excuses like "it's part of a plan I don't understand" to explain the bad. This is the exact same behaviour as someone in denial; easy acceptance of the good and denial of the bad. For the majority of people I still don't see this as an issue as believing in something and convincing ourselves of things is a daily thing we all do to get thru life.

When you see a bunch of people praying instead of using common sense to get out of a situation I get really annoyed. Or when religion get's, IMO, mis-used. For example an artist thanking god for the success of their new album.

I'm not very good at expressing what I mean here. I know I'm treading on dangerous ground but I don't want it to be misconstrued and cause offence.

It's like people relying on the bible. A 2,000 year old document with some questionable content. I understand it's essentially a series of stories designed to teach however I find it disturbing the variance and range of that teaching. Some of the stuff in the biible is pretty darn clear yet seems to be ignored if it's no longer socially acceptable.

I guess my whole point is that I find it discouraging that people believe something without a decent level of proof. That's the part I find most dangerous of all. Perfect example is that I have a great deal of trouble going along with the Santa/Tooth Fairy thing. I understand it's just a bit of fun and the good it brings outweighs the white lie... but it feels so wrong to me. To the extent I don't actually say anything about him and, if asked if he's real, get the kids to explain why they think he is. I.e. analyse the proof. Fucking killjoy I am right? :)

I know many people say they've had an experience which led them to believe in a god which is fine but I don't think that makes any one religion right. I also don't think it makes me right in my lack of belief either. Personally I just believe in things that people can prove to me. Telling me about an experience you had or quoting a 2000 year old book doesn't hold water with me. I also have a great deal of respect for scientists who say "this is what I believe and this is why but I could be wrong". Science seems to be the process of examine and trying to learn whilst religion mostly seems to be the process of being told and living by a set of interpretations.

Just my view though. May god strike me down if I'm wrong (yeah I know it doesn't work that way :) )

Glad you found the site. I was thinking dude to invite the remaining Lounge members over. I left a message to Syn on PSN but I have a feeling it could be his brother playing PS3.

Should send out the invite to them, I miss the guys over there and it could only benefit all of us combining members from both sites, I want to catch up with them.

I know you still post there so can you send a message to them.

I started playing tennis with friends, not for a club or anything just literally one day me and my friends decided to buy rackets and start playing because we found a local court that wasn't locked up. Regardless, I'm actually really enjoying it and at least now I'm actually getting some form of exercise.

Also, yay for torrents.
Sweet!
Me and some friends play tennis all the time, in saying that been a few weeks now. but starting after new years, itll be 3 days a week, i still suck at playing, what racquet did you buy
I play tennis as well gorgeous.

Well not so much now but I did play competition when I was younger and I am better than most players. By most I mean people who occasionally play the game, I can still hit all my forehand and backhanders with power and make most of my serves.

We should play, I have some other buddies who play and want to get into a friendly doubles game.
Im happy to play a few rounds with you man, im actually going to play tomorrow morning before i head out for the city.. im starting at 7am.

In regards to your post about the lounge.. You are completely incorrect. not even one point was accurate...
FYI I never ever banned any of our Au People. Never.
2ndly I dont give a crap if you talk about drugs. Ill talk about them too, but always in a negative light, because i see no positives out of them at all.
For me my religious views are sacred to me. For that reason, if i see insults flown in regards to my belief, I actually get upset. I dont care if you dont acknowledge or believe the religion, its no stress on my shoulders.. just don't insult it.
To be honest i'd rather you be racist to my background of Lebanese than say one negative word to my belief and im anti racism, but thats how highly I hold my belief.
If the other users will return here and their attitude will remain the same i will leave the place as simple as that.. If you start putting pictures such as the one i outlined, I will stop talking to you.. I see you as a great guy Ben but quite frankly if people wish to test my respect and friendship levels, they will lose.
I agree to disagree in some areas dude. I know that we met in person so you know what type of person I am and I feel like I was only saying what I said as constructive criticism.

I know you didnt mod me but MJ surely did. Regardless that isnt the issue right now and I can move from that. My issue with you as a GS rep was that you blindly supported them and its actions it took, that is about it. Personally I dont let a company or authority define me, for example working for Telstra and I would not use their services unless it was heavily staff discounted and I would never support many of the actions they took to fuck over consumers. All those fuckers did was pay me, they never owned me.

I dont think anyone on the Lounge went out of their way to bully you about religion, like at all. The guys actually came to your support a fair bit when I had those issues with you and MJ back a few years a go. I mean they supported me as well but had no negative words for you other than you are a little sensitive and a good boy.

I always thought Religion taught people to be tolerate and you are willing to leave a site simply over a picture posted likely for humour. Cmon bro, seriously.

Im certainly up for some tennis, I dont actually own a racquet though so I do need to buy one. Like I said I am really rusty but I can easily shake off the cobwebs after a few strokes.

Yeah I was still doing the Shame Pile challenge, which I had bookmarked and Chickan posted a link there but I forgot about it. Syn came back and actually mentioned it today on The Lounge so I came over.

I did a search but all I could find was stuff from you guys. So you're right, I don't like the results, they told me nothing.
