How is it? I was quite interested in it before it came out but it fell off my radar soon after its release. |

Yeah I'll be keen to hear too. I was put off by that one where you play as hundreds of Kirbys and, for some reason, the one on Wii |

I'm only an hour in, but so far it's a little weak. It plays like a watered down Kirby Dreamland (which I love), and the level design is too simple and easy. I hope it improves as I go on. |

As in the original one on gameboy? Because yeah that game was great, but since then they haven't quite lived up to it. Though I only played a few. I liked Epic Yarn for what it was but I did agree with reviewers as it lacked some challenge and got a little boring. |

I've started playing Final Fantasy VII again for a bit of nostalgia. The old PlayStation console seems to have gone missing, so I'm playing on my PS3 connected to a CRT TV I grabbed from my parent's house. It works okay, but there are some minor graphical glitches, and the image appears to have been scaled slightly (some rows of pixels are thicker than others—noticeable in the text). I'm around 2-3 hours in—I thought I'd be bored with it by now, but I'm hooked

I thought the PS4 version was going to be a port of the PC port, which is a jarring mishmash of sharp 3D objects and blocky pre-rendered backgrounds. My aim is to experience it as I did in 1997—blurry flickering TV and all. I'd really like to know where that PlayStation went… |

I'm finding this to be a trend with Nintendo games now. Still great games but the lack of challenge is making them lose some of their shine |

Yeah, the gameboy version was great. I also really liked Return to Dreamland and Epic Yarn. Others haven't hit the mark for me though. |

Started up Max Payne 3. Alot of things annoy me. Pacing and flow is inconsistent due to an over-abundance of cutscenes, but the general shooting and encounters are really good fun. It's mechanically Rockstar's best game. |

Until you fall down into Last Stand because that shit is equipped by default and you have no ammo in your gun as you go down in slow-mo and then you die because the game hates you 10/10 IGN. |

Nah, the ammo part is fine with that mechanic; I generally like comeback mechanics in general. But having your aim rubberbanded to kill that enemy instead of another is not. The shooting and combat itself is excellent. The feedback you get is good, Ammo is more than generous which makes up for the rather spongy feeling at first. Enemies feels lethal and the way the health system is balanced to encourage going HAM instead of sitting behind cover is great balance. Also, thank fucking goodness that this game doesnt use Blood vignettes or splash to communicate low health, because the lethality of the shootouts is just legit. I think it's right next to Vanquish as having the best shooting mechanics in a third person shooter. The game just seems lacking in strong encounter design and it has abundant amount of overly-intrusive cutscenes that hold its pacing back. I also do hate getting nagged to push ahead to the next part of the game - let me take in the surroundings an pace myself. |

You playing on Normal or Hard? I never continued past the first level in my playthrough on Hard and I can't remember if it changes the last stand mechanic at all. But I never had a problem with it. As you said you can die so quickly in that game, it was nice to get a second chance. If you're out of ammo that's just bad luck really, but you were going to die anyway so what difference does it make? ![]() But yeah that game is great, it felt so good to play and I thought Rockstar did well by the Max Payne character and story, as a huge fan of the first two games. Also are you playing it on PC? Those high res textures man, some of the areas are stunning. The game gives you heaps of time to look around, maybe not in the early goings, but later on I'm sure it does. |
