I completely forgot that that happened after the fight with Roberts. I guess that's not a good sign So you were right: it did end with a fight against a forgettable Templar.I guess part of the problem is that prior to the ending he delegated most tasks to the subordinate Templars, so they are the ones who got character development. In contrast, he had no real arc, remaining pretty much unchanged over the game. |

I'm trying Dragon Age 2, which has sat in my collection untouched for years (I didn't buy it and never played it because I didn't care for Origins). It's basically a medieval Mass Effect with different combat. The pause menu and dialogue cinematics are exactly the same. I'm liking it so far. I tried Dragon Age three times but never got more than a few hours in before quitting. The amount of dialogue bored me and I could never be bothered to figure out the combat system. |

I started playing the South Park game yesterday, and have been enjoying it so far (I completed the first day and the alien abduction at night). I have the Australian edition, so the scenes where Randy was being raped by the alien anal probe were replaced by a crying koala. I'm still trying to get the hang of the timing for the button presses for attacks/blocks. |

It's a really fun enjoyable game which pushes the boundaries of good taste as far as it can. When I played it I was a little annoyed at the cut scenes, and I watched them on youtube, but on reflection I think it's actually good that they were cut. They're not terrible, but they just go a little bit too far for a game. That said, when you get to certain scenes later on I'm really glad they cut those. |

I loved South Park. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on DA2 Moo. I tried Origins a number of times but never got into it despite knowing it was something I should like. As for me I'm playing Tomb Raider. The gameplay is enjoyable enough but the story and action sequences are horrible. Uncharted 3 level horribleness for me. Someone needs to tell them more isn't better and, when you fill every second with a "suspense moment" you ruin suspense entirely! We need Jesus to come back just to carpenter some decent structures for these guys. Everything Lara walks on or climbs falls to pieces! Edit : I know you have to suspend belief for games and movies but, I guess my point with Tomb Raider, is that they don't make it believable. It's also incredibly inconsistent. Lara's against killing but slaughters everyone she comes cross with deadly proficiency. She stumbles and hurts her knee which causes her to wince and limp but then, seconds later, she's jumping gaps and firing a bow same as old.Blergh. I think I've just got something against this game and need to forget all about that and enjoy the mechanics Edited by Derpstrom, Nov 24 2014, 02:19 PM.

That's the ludo-narrative for you. I didn't mind it because the core mechanics and the story was enough for me to really enjoy the game. Visually it's great. I can look past those problems with it, but I certainly accept that they exist. What you're saying was one of the complaints that many people had with the game. I wonder how they'll deal with it in the next game. |

The dissonance of the ludonarrative (boy did that phrase get ever so tired) in Tomb Raider never bothered me all that much. I just remember not liking the game for the first couple of hours. I think all the run forward through set pieces and continue running forward through more set pieces annoyed me. As it opened up more I got more into it though and ended up liking it, so stick with it I guess, and maybe just try to forget about the distance of the lewd nativity, or whatever.

I uninstalled DA2 20 hours in having not gone to a single new location after 10-12 hours into the game. I liked it at first, too, but it wore out very fast. Way, way too many recycled areas. Kirkwall felt pretty bland, as well. |

That was a pretty big complaint from DA2. I enjoyed it but I do like going out and exploring in RPGs and the style of DA2 restricts this majory. I'll be interested to see how Inquisition is. Looks more open from what I've seen |

There arent many high profile games that I'd consider legitimately terrible. Most have at least have some merits no matter how mediocre they can be. But Dragon Age 2 was just bad. |

JamesH's post got me into MArvel Puzzle Quest. Really enjoyable game. Standard "Bejewled" type puzzle controls but with a bunch of depth and story to accompany it. Quite like the MP and alliance features too. Micro Transactions are a little annoying, esp as the things you purchase increase in cost with each buy making it hard to determine how far your purchase will go. For example; I started the game with 100 hero coins. I used 25 in the tutorial for something and then 50 to purchase an extra roster slot (let's me have another character). An additional slot cost 50 and, after playing it for a bit, I decided it was worth me spending real coin so I purchased a 600 coin pack ($6). Intended to buy a buunch of slots as I had some 2 star heroes I wanted to try out. Slot upgrade 2 - 50 coins Slot upgrade 3 - 100 coins Slot upgrade 4 - 100 coins Slot upgrade 5, 6, 7 - 3 pack purchase for 500 coins. Kinda annoying. It also encourages purchases everywhere else but they're ok ![]() ![]()

Daily resupplies get better after time. I got a couple of 4 star covers after 100 something days. Alliance chat not working for me again. |

Crusader Kings II doesn't fuck around when it comes to moral choices. This kid was one rung higher than me on the ladder of inheritance.
