The sentence "Only complaint so far is how similar it is to AC in a few ways" isn't important when alognside "The fights are difficult and I love the freedom you get in how you do things". To me those two things are the biggest flaws with AC

Pretty shit puzzles. Well one of them at least. Matching symbols with shapes like a toddler over here. Which wouldn't piss me off if heaps of walking wasn't thrown in simply because new-breed dipshit game designers and their fucking wank art crusade think it's okay to toss simplicity to the wind because they're Making a Point. And fuck your sub-Skyrim wilderness who cares if it looks nice I could just as well go for a walk outside than walk through your vacant forest learn to tell a story idiot worst game 6/10.

Point is that the game might have a good story but it doesn't help the story when the lazily construed gameplay cuts into the experience. It's testing my patience.

Back 2 it.

UPDATE: I finished the trite puzzle and the game glitched out and wouldn't load the next area.

I don't recommend this game, whatever its merits. That said I'm tired and cranky goodnight.

Fuck you that game is the shit.

It certainly could be better but it succeeds in both the areas that it really needed to: it creates an amazing and believable atmosphere and tells a very engaging story. My only issues with the game is that sometimes the only way to solve the puzzles is through trial and error as they lack enough information to logically put together in one try.

It gets the atmosphere right. I pity the sound and graphic designers whose efforts are subdued by the fuckers helming the gameplay. I still haven't finished it but it's just a terrible game with one good puzzle (the house at the start), a serviceable story, and good atmosphere. The atmosphere is kind of like Deadly Premonition's but less memorable and lacking its endearing madness.

I never got all the GTAV praise. I reckon it's one of the most overhyped games of the last generation.
I think The Last Of Us is the more over-rated game.

Over hyped by journalists/communities you mean? I'm lucky in that I went into Last of Us with no expectations so had a great time playing it. One of the more enjoyable games for me last year

I'm actually finding myself further and further disillusioned by single player games. I still think I'll love those exceptional, outstanding games that I really like such as Batman Arkham and Mass Effect. However, on the whole I think I'm going to be playing way, way less SP stuff and more competitive and co-op MP stuff.

CSGO is my mainstay competitive game, and I'm playing D&D once a week with friends which is basically a do whatever you fucking want sandbox multiplayer RPG. Started playing Portal 2 co Op with twisted last week and I was having a more fun, rewarding experience than I ever had in the singleplayer portion of either portal games (by the way twisted, I'm away with family til Fridayt, we'll play more when I get back). I never managed to get through Diablo 3 singleplayer but I'd love to play through it with someone if anyone's interested.

I think part of the reason for the disinterest in singleplayer stuff is because I've been watching more and more films lately, and they really just make the story telling efforts of most games look pretty atrocious in comparison. I was already kinda aware of that fact but I appreciate movies way more than I used to for whatever reason.

Fuck_Giver.exe has stopped working!
Does it matter how I write the truth?

No problem man, when you get back we can get back into it, I think it's the first time I've played anything co-op and it was pretty damn fun.

I float in and out of single player and multiplayer stuff. Right now I'm more into SP but in a month or two I'll be playing more MP. Also I tend to just accept that video game stories don't grab me very often. But there are a number of games with fantastic stories. Max Payne, Gone Home and Metal Gear Solid stand out to me.

On the topic of MGS, I'm playing the first one at the moment. Started it for a second time last week (after giving up at the climbing the comms tower part the first time a couple of years ago) and I'm really enjoying it this time around and I'm getting super into the story. It's great stuff and the good gameplay (that holds up fairly well for the most part) and fun boss fights really help. It's actually the trigger for making me want a ps3 so bad. I want to play the rest of the series.

It has helped that Giant Bomb was running a feature where a guy with no exposure to the series is playing it for the first time (pretty much just like me) with a guy who has been super into it since the beginning. So playing along and watching them at the same time has been really cool.

Isn't that what over-rated usually means......

If it's not over-rated by game journalists and game communities..who else would it be over-rated by?

Such a boring game. Tried to play it twice...got 3 hours in and gave up.

It's roughly 3 hours in when it starts to get awesome. I wasn't crazy about it either at the start.

I knew what I meant when I wrote it. No idea what I was asking now though :S As you point out; who else would it be over-rated by?

Maybe I meant to ask if you meant over rated by official scores/reviews OR by communities OR by both. I dunno.
