If you bought Guacamelee! or got it through PSPlus on the PS3 or Vita, and you have a PS4, do yourself a favour and pay the $5 for the upgrade for it. It's like a whole new game. In fact, it changes so much of the game that I would even consider it Guacamelee 1.5 edition. It feels brand new. Like a reimagining of the game... I think there's enough differences here to consider it for this years best of list in fact.

What kind of changes? The game was perfect as it is... how do you improve on perfection?

There's two new levels that completely change the progress of the game. You get a few abilities at different places. There's also new abilities and a few new enemies too. It makes for a different game progress wise, but just as good with the combat. Still ridiculously fun.

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is a really fun shooter. It's arcadey nonsense with precise, responsive gunplay and a Max Payne-ish slow motion system. Its pacing is really great, despite it relying on static scenario driven shooting galleries over explosive setpieces that shooters tend to embrace.

It has a few flaws: Boss fights are terrible, the cover is unreliable, obscurring vision that's far worse than the usual blood vignettes when hit and it's lacking in its visual fidelity compared to other shooters. But it has an excellent tone and captures the cowboy setting really well with its narrated recount that can both surprise and humor you.

TWD has a great story but I'm getting more annoyed the more I play Telltale games. Now clearly they want to make very cinematic story-driven games, but the problem is they don't substitute the lack of gameplay for anything. Heavy Rain worked because it was a true interactive story with a lot of branching paths based on your choices. It really felt like what you were doing mattered. Something like Uncharted works because the level of polish in the game really makes it feel like you're in a movie.

TWD has none of these. The choices rarely matter beyond a few changed lines of dialogue and maybe the order in which you play some sections. Everything just ends up pretty much the same regardless. It certainly doesn't have any cinematic polish: the engine is fucking garbage.

I still enjoy the game for its story, but the way choice is handled really irritates me sometimes.

Yeah I agree with all of that. Also the gameplay is so tacked on that I groan whenever it occurs. I wish there were no QTEs and more explorative sections where you can speak to various people and interact with the environment a little. I liked the little Monkey Island-like sections that TWD1 had.

Yeah I've found that the puzzle element is all but gone is Season 2, and only there very slightly more in TWAU. I think they've really stepped away from point and click games to interactive movies now.

Wait you mean to tell me there are other guns outside of the Desert Eagle, MP, AK and AWP?

I started playing Ocarina Of Time again yesterday (emulator). The last time I played it (with the intention / result of actually finishing it) was in 2009 so it's been long enough I think to enjoy it again, though this time I'm going for 100% which I've never done before. Going to do as much as I can without consulting any guides or walkthroughs.
