I remember enjoying #1 and #2 but can't relaly remember much about them aside from that. I really enjoyed #3 and can't comment on NV as, despite numerous attempts, I still haven't got into it enough to play it properly I don't know why.

I liked the way New Vegas felt like one large world you could go anywhere in. In contrast, Fallout 3 felt like a lot of smaller areas connected by subways. I also liked the way it used per faction reputation scores to control how people reacted to you rather than the single global karma score. The survival mode where they added sleep, dehydration and starvation metres in addition to health was a nice challenge too. |

I think if you played Fallout 3 now, you probably wouldn't get into it. Fallout 3 had a ridiculous amount of hype and discussion that pushed people to play it. Compared to New Vegas, which had a rather rough launch and a day one patch. It kinda came and went. |

^Do you mean that if he replayed it or tried it for the first time years after the hype? I played 1 and 2 in 2012, 3 in 2013 and I'm playing New Vegas now, and I didn't seem to have any trouble getting into 3 years after it's release. |

I'm almost done with Dark Souls 2. If it weren't for the 65 hours commitment I'd given it already I think I'd probably put it aside about now. Still enjoyable to play but getting repetitious now. Got the four great souls and navigated Drangelic Castle only to find that my king was in another castle... or just somewhere else. Went thru an annoying water level (hard to see where the ground falls away resulting in instant death AND you have to avoid multiple sorcerors throwing projectiles at you at the same time). Anyway, got to the end of this area and toa crypt, now the path has branched three ways so it feels like I'm about to go back to a whole heap of exploring to progress. Still fun but getting old now. Edit : This attitude doesn't help gameplay either as it makes me more reckless/impatient which makes me more dead Edited by Derpstrom, Jun 2 2014, 12:26 PM.

OK, I honestly found 3 fine to get into, and it actually has a significant advantage over New Vegas (if you're coming from the old Fallout games) that you have the excitement factor of seeing the fallout universe realised in 3D. By the time you get around to playing New Vegas you're over that and that made New Vegas harder for me to get into (as Chickan has experienced), but it's a more rewarding experience once you get going. 3 is more exciting initially (partially due to building up the reveal of the wasteland since you start as a vault dweller) but doesn't maintain it's enjoy-ability as well through the long haul.

For whatever reason, I was never interested in New Vegas. I loved Fallout 3 for its stunning atmosphere, but just couldn't be bothered starting again in a similarly dingy world so soon afterwards. I kinda felt like I'd had my fill of the series after 3, and New Vegas simply came out much too quickly to get me excited. I'm almost positive I'd like it though, so maybe I should give it a try now. I also liked Fallout 2, though found it annoyingly difficult at certain parts (particularly the beginning, when I struggled even to kill some tiny rat things). I'm currently alternating between Vanquish and Remember Me. Both are good, but neither is really satisfying me. Vanquish is awesomely fun in short 15 minute bursts, but gets far too repetitive. The gameplay doesn't evolve at all from the first mission to the last. You unlock no new weapons or abilities, and the enemy robots (even the bosses) stay largely the same throughout, so the only morsels of variety are a few impressively pretty locations. I don't think it's quite enough. Even the turbo slide and the slow motion get a bit old after a while. I've only just started Remember Me, but not a single thing about it has grabbed me yet, and the combat seems like a bit of a hassle for now. |

I think i preferred how immediate getting access to the open world was in New Vegas. It's just a walk out the door with no horrid escape sequence. While Goodsprings wasnt as interesting as Megaton, there were some nice varied quests to start off that were pretty involving with NPCs guiding you to ease you in. |

I fired up some Mario Kart 8 and it's looking pretty good. I look forward to giving it a good play this weekend, and I'll have to decide on my free game soon too! |

Currently playing MK8 trying to get triple stars on 150cc - this is a tough nut to crack...breeze through 50cc & 100cc tho. Also finding out why I dislike stylus game..downloaded Wonderful 101 free game offer..should have probably gotten Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate instead. I like the look..but dislike the gameplay too small & too chaotic for me..sounds great in JPN voice tho. Will get back to Dark Souls 2 soon.

I like Remember Me now. I'm getting used to the fighting, like the setting, and loved the first memory remix. Could end up being a really good game if it continues on this path. I also got past the part in Vanquish that was giving me trouble, but I had to lower the difficulty. It was just too frustrating on 'normal', yet now I'm finding it much too easy. I don't know what it is about this game. I really do like it on both an intellectual and gameplay level, but I'm just not getting along with it for some reason. It never quite hits the sweet spot. |

Crusader Kings II is possibly my favourite strategy game. You rule one of dozens upon dozens of dynasties during the Crusades era and not only have to deal with other kingdoms but the bickering and scheming of your vassals, relatives, courtiers, peasants and visitors. I imprisoned and banished my sister from the realm because she assassinated my daughter to increase her own claim to the throne. Later I uncovered a plot hatched by my half-brother to murder my other daughter, which would've made him my successor. I attempted to imprison him but he escaped and declared war. Unfortunately my troops had just been vanquished elsewhere and I was defenseless against his pitiable band of soldiers. Luckily, before my half-brother captured my capital, I remembered I had some money in the treasury and was able to purchase the services of a mercenary group and crush him. I also had to borrow money from the Jews, but I've proved in the past that I'm good for it. My half-brother was imprisoned, had his titles revoked, and now serves as my marshal because I just can't pass up on his military abilities. I decided not to execute him because nobody likes a kinslayer. He'll probably try to kill my daughter again, or my newborn son. I'm not sure. I'm not 100% on what my laws of succession are at the moment. My daughter also just married the heir to the Holy Roman Empire, so hopefully I can press a claim on that baby one day. I also had a father accuse my chaplain of raping his daughter and had to choose whether to let it slide, fine him or imprison him. I imprisoned him and banished him from the realm. Not sure where he is now, possibly dead. It's so fun. Currently dirt cheap on Steam! Edited by Moo, Jun 5 2014, 06:08 PM.
