Reposted to the correct thread O_O.

Playing Transistor, It's amazing so far. It strikes a bold first impression by literally throwing you into the game once you boot it up with no start menu to be found. And you're met with a troubled 1984esque narrator and a contextually mute protagonist.

The combat system in Transistor is rather fascinating and unusually complex. It's wedged somewhere in between Fallout, Valkyrie Profile 2 and Jeanne D'arc. It's flexible enough in a way that lets you tackle each moment like a puzzle with the use of a pretty neat skillsets that range from mobility, distraction, AoE and piercing line skills.

Only drawback with the system is that the enemy variety and behavior seems lacking, with most enemies either shooting a beam at me or moving to me. But it's still satisfying figuring out the most efficient way to take down the baddies.

Other than those, the world building is equally as strong as Bastion and I think it sonically sounds better. I adore the effort the game has put into layering the vocal hums throughout the game.

Bioshock Infinite DLC Part One was quite good. Better than I expected. Took a while to get going and when it did it wasn't for long but set up Part Two nicely. Already looks like a really good addition to the Bioshock history.

I started playing Psychonauts after quitting halfway through a long time ago. It's a pretty good if imperfect and sometimes plain annoying platformer. It's really inventive with its settings though; the Blowfish and Milkman Conspiracy stand out, and the cube-shaped level has a few tricks I thought Mario Galaxy came up with. Writing is funny and quite mature too, like a cheekier, more cerebral Toy Story. Collectibles are boring. I hate how it forces you into a collect-a-thon before giving you the Cobweb Duster. Pointless quest requiring zero skill so that you can move a few cobwebs. Lame. Bosses are also lame but Dark Souls is still fresh in my mind.
I had to wipe my computer and forgot to keep a save for this. Guess I'm destined never to finish this game.

Do you have the Steam version?

If you do you could probably try boot the game and see if your save is still there. Steam uploads your save file to online/cloud storage.

Started on God of War 2 tonight. Really love this game. It's been years since I played it last, but feels brand new.

Dear people who think Fallout 3 is better than New Vegas:

Sincerely,

lol@people thinking Fallout 3 is superior or stopped playing Fallout last generation at Fallout 3 because they saw New Vegas' metacritic score.

I actually once saw the argument made, before I'd played any of the Fallout games, that New Vegas as a setting was a bad idea because it wasn't true to the fallout atmosphere due to it being all lit up and bright and like an actual city. It was so obvious that they were introduced to series with 3 and never played the first two, which in and of itself there's nothing wrong with that, but bitch please don't talk like you're an authority on what's faithful to Fallout and what isn't.

I swear, Fallout 3 fanboys are just nubs.

Whilst I'm still in the middle of playing it (about 25 hours in) I'd probably rate the series like this for me personally in enjoyment:

Fallout 1 > New Vegas >> Fallout 2 >>>>> Fallout 3

Not to be misleading, I actually like Fallout 3, I think it's a markedly better game than Skyrim, but it's the worst of the series (and the black sheep).

I played like 10 minutes of Fallout 1 and it's terribleness made me want to vomit.

Admittedly, I didn't really know what the hell was going on because that interface, holy shit.

I probably should have looked at the manual.

I also think I died within that first ten minutes.

Okay fine I'll give it another chance one day.

I specifically remember that, haha. Compared to modern games the interface and just how to do things was weird for me, too. Once I figured it all out it was fine and I thoroughly enjoyed the game.

Yeah but jumping in blind like you can with modern games wasn't the best way to go about it.

I mean you start in the cave and there are rats or cockroaches or whatever they were. I figured I could just go over to it and click on it and it would die.

Nope.

I jumped in blind and just figured things out as I went (with the occassional google search). It would probably pay to read a tutorial or the manual, I do remember my first time in the cave outside the vault being a bit confusing to figure out how combat worked. I really do highly recommend it, once you get past the learning curve I think it's quite an experience (but short and sweet compared to the other 3 in the series). It's definitely more of a hardcore RPG, it won't hold your hand, but I found it far more accessible than Morrowind; a game I've tried and failed many times to play.

Only thing Fallout 3 had going for it over NV was its empty post-apocalyptic atmosphere.

Fallout: New Vegas was unusually populated with individuals.
