It does end abruptly but, I thought, at about the right time. Not sure if it was rushed to copmpletion. I can't see them doing that after the big fuss they made about ensuring the game was right and "their game" unlike the other sellouts. It was really interesting seeing a video interview with them about the previous games. They bagged on them so much and, basically, apologised for selling it out and just doing voices. Was nice to see and they're obviously not worriued about burning bridges. Lol. I think the story is what made the game great. I know that goes against what I normally say when discussing things like Journey but the game was an ok game but the story made it exceptionally fun to play. Compelted it three times and didn't skip scenes once. Did you listen to the audio logs in the space ship? What a cracker

The game doesnt communicate well 'how' you should play it. The level rating system is not robust enough to encourage such play, compared to something equally reckless, like Super Meat Boy. If anything, one of its strengths is how you can play it tactically, or even stealthy above the general recklessness, and the various masks and varying weapons compliment that. |

Maybe. The game was delayed numerous times, had a change of publisher and was completely no show for presentation. I was expecting the game to get cancelled after not hearing about it for awhile. And the developer has a history of rushing games to completion with abrupt endings (or unpolished products). |

The audiologs were pretty funny, but my favourite parts were the abortion clinic and Canada. The hijinx on the 2nd night were funny too. I assumed that the point where the SoT and CIA plotlines merged would be the point where the story adapts into something else, but it just ends with a bunch of (kinda funny) exposition and a boss fight. I get the sense that the game didn't match Trey and Matt's original vision. |

Dark Souls 2 (PC) ..visual wise quite underwhelming...well not as good as what they showed before..other than that still a nice game. A console game for sure..heck they can't even get the controls right on keyboard/mouse. Can't bind keys to mouse button other than the 3 usual ones? Though I heard Dark Souls on PC is also not a very good port. Oh I also click on something in game summoning thing, that somehow end up joining up with another person, of course I didn't realise it at first..then a few seconds..maybe a minute pass ..ping! pong!..this Dohboi dude basically help me, well he did most of the job..beat up some boss knight dude & I got like 19000 souls. Yeah I hate that. Was why I played my first run of games like Dark Souls, Diablo, etc solo. Hate the idea of being carried thru something. I asked this in the other thread but will ask ehre as well (yes I've searched online). Do you know how to change the on screen prompts to show keyboard buttons instead of Xbox controller buttons? Very disconcerting when I'm not playing with a controller! |

I don't think you can, there's no keyboard/mouse prompt...I guess they want you to use 360 controller. Not using any mods..will probably try it out later.

I started playing Mass Effect over the weekend. I had previously played Mass Effect 2 and have ME3 still to play, so thought I'd give this game a shot and try taking a single character all the way through the three games. I decided to play as a female adept this time, to see how that changes things from my previous play through (I'd played ME2 as an engineer). The learning curve in the game seems a lot steeper than I remember ME2 being, and it feels like it depends on you having read the manual (which I didn't get with the download version). I guess I'll get used to it though. |

You do play solo. It's not like people just randomly jump into your game to assist you. He didn't have to summon the guy if he didn't need help. It was his own fault. The summon/invade mechanic is a big part of the Souls games, so it seems silly to play offline (which is what I understood your 'solo' to mean). You'd be cutting yourself off from all the helpful floor messages, as well as the invasions from black phantoms, which sounds like one of the most intense and fun parts of the game. You're supposed to play it online. Anyway, has anyone played Papers, Please? I'm going to take that on next. Sounds excellent. Edited by Sir Goodfellow, Apr 28 2014, 01:55 PM.

You'll do fine, Mass Effect is pretty moderate as far as RPGs go, it won't totally hold your hand but it's not a hardcore experience, either. The first is still the best of the series for me. |

Can someone tell me in spoiler tags how ME3 ended and why the ending was so controversial at the time? It's pretty clear now that I'll never get around to playing it myself. I have no enthusiasm for it. |

I've got no intention of giving up on the game. The reason I brought up the lack of a manual is that the game doesn't seem to do a good job of explaining the controls compared to more recent games. I'm sure there is a page in the manual that gives a useful summary. I think I've got it mostly worked out through trial and error, but I'm left wondering if I missed anything. I was a bit surprised when I first hit the select button and it threw a grenade ![]() Another gripe is the auto-save system, which pauses the game while it writes to the hard drive. It's a bit jarring, since it's not obvious where the checkpoints will be. I guess they cut back on the number of automatic checkpoints partly due to how slow they are, but that just ends up punishing you if you don't manually save in some missions. These are all pretty small problems though, and I'm sure I'll work them out as I progress through the story (which is one of the things I liked about the second game). |

Aside from the ending Mass Effect 3 has the best storyline of the three, or at least the best character stories. You should definitely play it. But if you want to know the ending, and if I remember it right: Spoiler: click to toggle

Yeah, you really should still play it if you liked the first mass effect, Raz. It's much better than 2. I went into it expecting to hate it and ended up thinking it was a great game!
