It seems to encourage more of a slower approach. A hurry up and wait kinda thing. I enjoy twitch-like gameplay as that's something that's suited for the accuracy of a mouse (since, that's where the term came from). Most of the time a quick succession felt like an unsatisfying fluke.

I never found it to be all that emergent or reactive. Especially when baddies start barging in when you didnt expect it--the game doesnt communicate the parameters of when that'll happen: sometimes they'll hear, sometimes they wont. I personally found the game to encourage careful positioning (chokes, corners and line of sight gaps) than reaction to compensate for such behavioral inconsistencies.

I wasn't keen on the incostencies however the quick respawn made it a less negative experience for me.

Keep meaning to try it on a console as I know it gets a lot of Vita acclaim. Can't see how it would work as well as KBM

I feel like playing Hotline Miami without a mouse would be a nightmare. It's already hard enough with one.
Fuck_Giver.exe has stopped working!
Does it matter how I write the truth?

I know it's a noob question, but do I need Steam to play Papers, Please?

I ended up getting Demon's Souls after all. The Eurogamer retrospective sold me on it. Wish me luck! It sounds like the most difficult game I've ever come across.

Hotline Miami was good with a mouse for sure, and it's very good on console, but it's at home on the Vita. It's absolutely perfect there. Second best game on the Vita.

Just realised I own, but have never played, Dark Souls. Shall have to remedy that. Anyone played that and Demon? Any comparison?
Dark Souls is pretty much your typical sequel (in a good way). It's bigger and better, expanding on all of the elements in Demon's Souls making it a more complex game in a lot of ways. I'd have to say it's probably a bit easier than DeS just due to it being open world as opposed to level-based, and the bosses are for the most part easier, although I would have to say the title of the single most difficult boss in the series goes to Dark Souls.

You dont need a Steam account to play it. But you should just get one anyway as there's plenty of good games that could run on anything on there.

You can just buy it directly from:

http://papersplea.se/

What you get is the installation file of the game that you can install and play without Steam. But also get a redeemable copy that you can insert into Steam. Think about it like buying a boxed copy of something and a digital one at the same time that you can access and use its additional features.

Did my first raid last night. Quite enjoyable but not the impressive mix I'd been led to believe it was. Started out with the tank going afk. After we kicked and replaced him the healer dropped. Once she was replaced we got underway and had no further hiccups for the rest of the thing.

I think I might try to find a guild that does beginner raids. I'm only around level 30 so need something low level for now and would prefer a guild running vent or ts or something... voice chat anyway. Found D3 and GW2 were much better when using voice chat.

EDIT: Ok so this is considered and instance not a raid. Guess I have to go learn what the difference is now :S

Started on God of War Chains of Olympus this evening. So far so enjoyable. More enjoyable than God of War Ascension at least.

Why are you playing them back to back? Crazy person!

A wise man (Jimmy H) once advised me against doing that. I staggered my GOW, Tomb Raider and POP games as a result and had a much more enjoyable time

Because I live life dangerously Dave. That's why.

God of War Chains and 1 are quite short games and because I'm playing Infamous and Rayman Legends at the same time it's not like I'm only playing God of War games. Plus each game takes me about two or three weeks to finish with about twenty minutes of play every second or third night.

Sad but I'm enjoying reading your comments just as much as playing the game :) Fun remembering that journey, discovery dragons, revisiting areas, etc, etc.

And there's a post right after that where you gave me specific advice about a specific thing in the game!

Ok then maybe I played Dark Souls but not Demon Souls. I've played the one you were talking about because I remember bits but not the other one.
