I'm way less interested in RE5 than 6, which seems more ambitious and delightfully stupid, but it wasn't there. It's available on PS4 though. Speaking of delightful stupidity, Code Veronica is my favourite in the series on that front. It's a good RE game and the story and cutscenes are bonkers. |

I dunno, according to everyone, RE6 is the worst in the series and so bland that it's barely playable. RE5 is fine, but completely forgettable and not even slightly creepy. It's just a middling TPS. Also, disclaimer: I haven't actually played The Darkness 2 to compare it with the original game, but I've heard it's a lot more linear and less affecting. Plus it wasn't even developed by Starbreeze (who made the utterly amazing prison simulator in The Chronicles of Riddick before impressing me again with the first Darkness). Also, you should've got Condemned or possibly Alien Isolation instead of Dead Space if you're after a memorable horror fix. Edited by Sir Goodfellow, Mar 24 2018, 02:06 PM.

I almost got Prey yesterday. It was $8 at the shops. I ultimately didn't, but that's the one game that is always plentiful and permanently cheap, so I can afford to wait til the mood strikes me. |

Damn you moo, after checking some reviews, now I feel I have to get The Darkness 2. Sounds pretty good. Unfortunately, it's $18 on psn, which is just a bit too much for an almost 10 year old 6-hour game. I played Observer over the last few days. An interesting game that ultimately gave me nothing but a headache. The grimy cyberpunk aesthetic is spot on and the plot fairly interesting, but in its single-minded quest to be seen as the trippiest game of all time, it lacks restraint and just makes you queasy. 8 hours of flashing lights, jarringly shifting landscapes, overlong dream sequences, nightmare logic and screeching noises left me kind of exhausted. Also, the frustrating stealth sequences are even shittier and more unnecessary than they were in Soma. Still, I'm glad I played it. It's pretty unique. That was the third game in a row in which I haven't killed anyone (Talos, Soma, Observer). I'm starting to miss guns and carnage. Think I'll play GTA V next just so I can wantonly run over some people... Edited by Sir Goodfellow, Mar 25 2018, 03:13 PM.

Did Road to Gehenna come with Talos? It has some of the best puzzles and some ultra-hard endgame ones that are purely logical but we’re way beyond my abilities. Some of the tricks they get you to pull, you realize how restrained they were with the rest of the game’s difficulty. |

Talos did come with Gehenna, though I put it aside as the base game adequately scratched my puzzle itch for now. I'm not sure I like that it's harder though. Some of the later puzzles in Talos were already annoyingly complicated. I think I'd much prefer more of the same. I decided to go for Sleeping Dogs as my murder simulator. It sounds like a fun mix of GTA and Yakuza, without requiring the epic time investment of either. I also got Sherlock Holmes Crimes and Punishments as a bonus. |

Alright, I must admit that $0 is a decent price. Downloaded, though I have no idea if it will run on my laptop or even if I can be bothered playing it. Can I use PS controller for it? New Vegas is always cheap anyway. I think it's permanently about $12 on steam. I played through the first ep of Life is Strange last night and really enjoyed it. Guess I'm continuing my run of non-violent games... Edited by Sir Goodfellow, Mar 27 2018, 01:41 PM.

I don't know if it's compatible with a PS4 control, but I use the program DS4 Windows which will substitute it for Xbox control-only games. You've just gotta figure out that A = X etc. |

I just connected the controller to the laptop with my phone charger and Steam instantly recognised it without any program. It works. The game runs smoothly and looks good. Guess it augurs well for New Vegas. The laptop is more powerful than I had feared. |

I've been playing Rise of the Tomb Raider over the last few weeks. I took a break from the main story to play the included Babba Yagga DLC. It had some nice visuals, but the twist in the story was way too obvious if you picked up any of the collectibles along the way. The DLC also has a few timed platforming sections that seem a lot tighter than time-wise than anything in the main game. I guess the challenge is nice, but it'd help if the movement controls felt more precise (e.g. is Lara going to stumble after this jump?). The game has also started advertising Shadow of the Tomb Raider to me in the pause menu, so hopefully I'll finish this one before the sequel comes out. |
