With all sincerity, I probably should've assumed that eventually a treasure chest would eat me.

I like Sen's Fortresses' Prince of Persia setup but c'mon. At least with the booby trap arrows you have a sliver of time to react.

I managed to clear out that New Londo ghost house only to learn that I don't have the key to continue (or something). Total waste of time. It was still fun though. I also ditched my slow-ass halberd for a ghost dagger but still use Hell Bert to clear out chumps when I need a little distance.

Well if you played the game the way it's meant to be played (with online) then you would've seen blood stains and messages warning you about it :P

Yeah I guess. Now that you mention that I don't feel like I cheated by finding out about a few hidden bonfires. The ones in Taproot Garden and Quelaag's Domain would be virtually impossible to find otherwise (though I say this not knowing what's on the other side of the brick wall near the QD bonfire).

There are a few odd dead ends in Sen's Fortress, like the empty watchtower just before the Iron Golem and a nearby bridge that's guarded by a knight but leads to a wall.

Okay yeah fuck it, I should def be playing this online if the way past the sleeping dragon in the Painted World is a jump attack (why?!). As for the switch opening the door to Priscilla being in that skeleton-wheel basement of shitiness: fuck this game.

I have not checked a walkthrough for anything since one part in Twilight Princess because I hate doing it, but this game is simply impossible to reasonably complete without help.

Anor Londo's pretty fuckin cool can't wait to return to it.

Again that's kinda the point behind online play :) You don't need to get people into your game for assistance but the bloodstains can be a very useful way of getting help past situations without having to look up a guide

Got up to the big difficult fight in God of War Ascension. The difficulty spike went up majorly in this game. Was trundling along aok and now bam a fight with no health and magic that goes for three rounds. Fantastic.

Yoshi's New Island... what a turd of a game this is. If I wasn't up to World 6 I'd probably just give it to the kids... actually I'm not sure I'd inflict it on them... meh, let them choose.

They seem to have got the balance all wrong. 75% of it is ridiculously easy but they throw in occasional platforms and enemies that are one hit kills to completely fuck up the balance.

Very wierd game. Also has these running segments which feel like the running levels in Rayman Origins/Legends would be if they didn't work.

I've heard it's pretty awful. Which is sad given how good Yoshi's Island is on the SNES.

I enjoyed (but never loved) Yoshi's Island on SNES but I actually dislike this game. Just feels like a very lazy platformer and a strange move by Nintendo... well, ok so maybe it's not that strange considering.

It IS strange when you compare it to something like Super Mario 3D World which was an excellent and innovative game

Yoshi's Island on SNES is good fun, but it's been a while since I've played it though.

It's a double-edged sword though because it can potentially rob you of the chance to figure difficult things out for yourself. But you're right, the game does kinda insist you play online. Having to jump attack the sleeping dragon...oy vey! I was driving my spear into it repeatedly but would've never considered that.

I'll probably play Dark Souls 2 online when I buy it.

The great thing about the messages, if I remember correctly, is that you actually have to interact with them to read them. So you can save yourself from spoilers but grow cautious whenever you approach an area with loads of bloodstains

Wait what? Why did you have to do this? There's a second path that lets you walk under the bridge.

I know I know. I almost cleared the map of enemies trying to find the lever to the door but didn't think of returning to the basement (and didn't want to because I hate those skeletons). I would've eventually gone down there once my exploring above ground exasperated me enough and if my phone wasn't nearby. So yeah I guess the game can be beaten without outside help and I'm being obstinate out of frustration. Still, that lever is pretty out of the way considering where the door is. The Painted World is the first place I haven't liked. It's like the Undead Burg but with snow and a convoluted design.

I loved The Painted World, probably one of my favourite locations. Very intricate and carefully constructed.
