What shit? I had never heard of it before, but I see on Google that it's a new Steven Spielberg film. What's the controversy?

There's no controversy, it's just the the book is apparently a really weak story completely propped up by having non stop inane references to pop culture.

Yeah pretty much. The plot is about a scavenger hunt in a dystopian future based around 80s pop culture. I’ve read excerpts and the cringiness is unreal.

Finally got around to starting Horizon Zero Dawn, its a little bit too much RPG than I was expecting. I was expecting more of an Infamous style of game in that regards. Infamous was about right for me with power upgrades.

Im unsure if Horizon Zero Dawn is open world or linear either, I took on a side quest before the first main quest and got side tracked a fair bit already. Game certainly has potential but I am feeling a little overwhelmed with the more heavier RPG elements so far. Gotta get my head around the weapons and when to use them as well.

It's open world. The first area is initially cutoff from the rest of the map. The range of abilities and weapons allow for a number of approaches to fights, so I wouldn't worry much about not utilizing them all. The fights are the highlight of the game for me, they're really fun once you get a grip on things. I like the main story too.

Something I learned late that will help you: dodging is very useful.

Finished Soma. Like everyone said, good story, annoying monsters. To be fair, the monsters tend to disappear altogether for lengthy periods and I personally found them all very easy to sneak around, but it was a pain knowing that I'd regularly have to play hide and seek with random monstrosities when all I wanted to do was to explore the station and solve puzzles at my own pace. If I ever play it again, I may try the safe mode that neutralises the monsters.

A very solid narrative-based game though. Certainly my second favourite atmospheric adventure with an existential twist set in a dilapidated underwater facility. It was a steal at $11.

I set up CEMU today and started playing Breath of the Wild. I just left the Plateau and am on the way Kakariko. It's certainly very, very different and feels pretty fresh for a zelda game, I never played Skyward Sword so I'm basically coming from Twilight Princess to this. The weapon degradation is a bit annoying, maybe, but I've certainly never come close to not having a weapon to use. I hope it doesn't fall too much into generic open world trappings.

I’m one of the few people who thinks Skyward Sword is good, but BotW is a hard reset on the formula, so all they really share is a similar animation style and shitty obligatory motion control sections (I’m curious how an emulator gets around that). EDIT: Technically they’re not obligatory - they’re in two or three random shrines.

The plateau is the only railroaded part of the game. You can go fight Ganon as soon as you have the wind glider, and top-range weapons are immediately accessible (though well guarded). It’s that freedom to do things in any order combined with the Zelda style that makes exploration so fun. There are some lame fetch quests but whatevs, ignore them.

Yeah I have no idea how that will work. There's something about motion devices in the options but I might just have to go without them, I'm not a completionist so I don't think it'll matter too much. Just got my first horse. Cooking is pretty cool, it's nice discovering new recipes just by experimenting.

So it turns out you can use your mouse to do motion controls while right clicking. It works ok for things like aiming the bow, but controlling the shrine platform with the ball is just impossible. Good news is apparently you can use your phone to do that, bad news is mine is actually dead and I haven't got a new one yet...

The shrine platform was also near impossible with a Wii U control - it's so poorly implemented.

I'd really like to play Fallout New Vegas, but by all accounts the PS3 version is still broken and unplayable past a certain point. So I did the Can You Run It thing and this is what it showed: https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/fallout-new-vegas/11035

It says I meet the minimum system requirements, which doesn't seem enough. Where do I fail to fulfill the recommended? Sorry, but reading computer specs and such is like Greek to me.

Edit: Oh sorry, of course it's not gonna show you my system specs. Now to work out how to take a screenshot...
