I can't remember Deception, but one thing that tripped me up a few times was overthinking a puzzle before noticing I wasn't taking advantage of all the space to get the lasers on the correct angles. I'd wrack my brain over an obstacle blocking a laser and finally see it wasn't an obstacle at all. |

It's one of the ones where it feels like I'm a connector short. I hook everything up and open all the forcefields except for the one housing the sigil, which can't be reached by a beam from that position. The trouble is that whenever I try to experiment and move one of the connectors, it ruins the entire path and nearly all the forcefields close, forcing me to start all over again. Then I just do the same set up again because it seems like the only possible way. I spent over an hour on it yesterday and couldn't crack it, but I kinda feel like I'm close to an epiphany. I hope it comes soon before I grow too frustrated and look it up. I guess the clue is in the name. There is obviously a deceptive element. But what is it??? |

Solved it quickly today. It actually wasn't that hard or particularly deceptive. I guess I was over-thinking it yesterday. Or underthinking. Whatever. I think I've now solved everything but the stars in the A world. |

Two puzzles I remember being stumped on for ages are Bichromatic Entanglement and Prison Break. Do you like the philosophical banter on the computer? |

Yeah, I've enjoyed chatting to the computer. Definitely interested to see where the plot goes. Biochromatic Entanglement took me less than a minute. It's a small area with just a couple of forcefields and connectors, so there weren't that many permutations to keep track of. I tend to struggle in maze-like areas with complex connector/jammer configurations, in which I often get confused and lose track. Deception was definitely one of those. The latest to stump me for a bit was Windows on a Labyrinth. That one took me about half an hour before I somehow stumbled on a solution. |

I haven't touched Persona 5 in... 3 weeks? I got about 40 hours in and had to take a break. I ended up playing the entirety of Dragon Age Origins since. Good fun. |

I did that with The Witcher 3. I was enjoying the game for maybe 60 hours, but the 3rd big area made traversal more of a hassle than I could be bothered with at the time, so I put the game aside for a little break. Now it's been over a year and it feels kinda daunting to get back to it. I'd really like to at least finish the base story, but it's been too long. I'd have to relearn everything. |

For me it’s more of a matter of working up the patience to go through hours of shite (cutscenes where fuck all happens) to get to the good stuff. Beneath it all there’s an intriguing story and good dungeon crawling/combat.

Watching a stream of the Life is Strange prequel. It’s LiS with ALL the interesting stuff taken out (murder mystery, time travel, decent plot, Twin Peaks theft) and all the bad stuff still there (cringey dialogue, teen drama, Chloe). Utter bore. |

I have noticed lately that a lot of people watch games on YouTube instead of playing them, which is an utterly foreign concept to me. I can't think of anything more boring than watching some random dude play a videogame. Regarding Talos, I've started using a walkthrough for all the stupid tetris puzzles, which don't rely on skill or problem solving ability, but time-consuming trial and error. They are by far the worst thing about the game. Otherwise, I'm making progress through the world c. Weirdly, I'm actually finding it easier than the earlier ones so far, since I'm now used to every mechanic and nothing stumps me for very long anymore. |

I watch them if the people playing are funny. I got more enjoyment out of watching people take the piss out of the Heavy Rain developer's games than I ever would have playing them. Hated the Tetris puzzles and might have also cheated on them a few times. |

Hey, Fahrenheit was really cool, and Heavy Rain was also enjoyable. I've been thinking of checking out Beyond. The problem with David Cage is that he's a really poor writer and all his plots seem to go completely off the rails towards the end, but I find their cinematic pretensions charming and fairly compelling nonetheless. One of my more memorable gaming experiences was hanging out with my girl in Fahrenheit. One thing led to another and I suddenly found myself in a hidden sex mini game where I had to move the right stick up and down in rhythm with the thrusting. It was so cool. |

I feel I would’ve been more forgiving of Heavy Rain’s faults when it came out, because it looked great for its time and it was before the Telltale trend started. But now its faults are all that distinguish it in my eyes. |

Heavy Rain was my first PS3 game. I think it came with the console. It was an unusual experience in that my dad insisted on watching me play it. Said he enjoyed the plot. So we'd get together in his living room every afternoon and I'd play it while he comments on the narrative and characters. It was weird but fun. I'll always remember the game fondly for inspiring those bonding sessions with my dad, if nothing else.

Your dad picks one game to share with you and it’s about a dad who gets his son killed. |
