I glanced at the Wiki and I’m intrigued. I hope it’s not like Pony Island, which also did meta stuff but sucked hard. I downloaded it.

But right now I’m about 13 hours into Persona 5 and it’s wild. A strange, utterly absorbing game. I don’t want to spoil anything.

Edit: I mean strange partly for its concepts, but it could also be that I’m not accustomed to this much anime.
I must admit that both Pony Island and Hatoful Boyfriend sound kinda interesting. Are they free on steam too? Pony Island even sounds like it has actual gameplay!

The thing about Doki Doki that took me a while to get used to is that it's not really a 'game' as such. 99% of 'gameplay' involves clicking through blocks upon blocks of largely inane dialogue. Sometimes you get to make a choice between 2 or 3 options and there's a very, very basic poetry minigame in which you get to pick words from a column. And that's that. Also, there's barely any animation, so it's essentially like reading a graphic novel with mostly static characters against very simplistic backgrounds. I managed to get used to it, but I do wish I could interact with it a bit more.

I hated Pony Island. It’s not clever or funny and the gameplay consists of awful puzzles and platflorming. Hatoful Boyfriend shows signs that it could be good if you stuck with it for a while, but the tone and slow pace made me impatient.

Undertale is a good game in the story-rich genre. LISA is also apparently very good. Oh and To the Moon is a great old yarn.

Yeah, I'll have to get Undertale soon. It's like 10 bucks and everyone says it's amazing.

Haha, Doki Doki actually deletes itself once you finish it. Weird fucking thing. I enjoyed it. The second half is a trip. There were a few really cool moments and some neat meta touches. It was a good find.

Ehh, it's not really a spoiler vital to the story or anything. It's just the final weird thing the game does.

About halfway through my game, I found a zero punctuation review of it, in which Yahtzee spoiled the shit out of it. He did include a clear warning, but I was already well into the video so I watched til the end. Wish I hadn't. He revealed pretty much exactly what would happen for the rest of the game. I wasn't sure whether to be annoyed at Yahtzee or myself :(

Has anyone played Shadow of Mordor? What's that like?

Lol I get into these phases about once a year where I MUST bolster my game collection even if I already have plenty of good things to play. Now I'm obsessed with getting Yakuza 0, Undertale, Hellblade, Life is Strange, and for some reason GTA5 (even though I already have it on PS3). Shadow of Mordor would be a nice cheap bonus.

I enjoyed Shadow of Mordor. This review is the one that convinced me to get it and basically sums up how I feel about it:

Fuck_Giver.exe has stopped working!
Does it matter how I write the truth?

It’s a sin that you still haven’t tried Bloodborne.

I'm scared of it. I came to love Demon's Souls eventually, but it took much more fortitude than most games. I will get around to it, but it has to be a special mood.

I've never willingly played a game on hard (except Fifa). I guess I don't play games for the challenge.

A Hat in Time is to Mario what Yooka-Laylee is to Banjo, particularly Sunshine and Galaxy, and it’s really good.

Nah. I tried it on veteran, but kept getting killed within a few seconds.

I like normal.
