The Ciri sections in TW3 new game plus are just abysmal. I never liked the way Ciri played but at least her sections were relatively easy. I'm pretty sure she doesn't scale properly into NG+ so it makes her sections frustrating and tedious, and it gets worse and worse as the games goes on. Now I'm up the fight with the Crones and it's just awful. The most tedious and frustratingly difficult thing I've played in a long time, Ciri does a pitiful amount of damage and only needs to take 3-4 hits to die. I took a week long break from the game because of it, and just tried it again. I appear to be very stuck. I'll probably have to resort to cheating or something, which I won't feel the least bit bad about.

I didn't mind the Ciri sections. She might be more vulnerable to damage, but her health regenerates when she's not taking hits and her dash is incredibly powerful.

One of my most valued buddies on the late imdb forums was a professional online poker player. Claimed he made a good living out of it, and certainly, he didn't sound destitute. It always made me laugh how serious he was about it though. He treated it like a normal profession and would get kind of offended at any suggestion he was just a gambling addict.

I miss that guy. He was scarily intelligent. Like, genius level, with a few personality defects that obviously stop him from reaching his true potential.

If you played on the non-tournament tables where the blinds don't increase you could easily make money if you knew the math and never took risks. People come and go from those tables and you're bound to get bad players all the time. It would be a slow process though, basically like data entry. Wouldn't be any fun.

There are of course actual professionals who can tidily profit in tournaments. If you're serious about it and clever enough to automatically know the percentages, it's much less of a gamble than all other casino games. You'll still lose thousands of dollars though.

I was always gonna get Doom eventually but I'm moving it further up the list now that I know Mick Gordon (Prey) did the soundtrack. I'm assuming it's punchier and not as suspenseful. Prey's incidental music is amazing.

There's nothing special what-so-ever about nuDOOM's music, save for a scripted part at the start that was pretty slick. Out of combat it is competent ambient music but only manages to be distinctly memorable during the parts where it gives a nod to the old doom songs, and during combat it's a really tasteless djent style complete with fully sick bass drops and wubs bro (with some orchestral mixed in during the hell parts). Quite frankly its likely most appealing to people that spend a sizable portion of their income on energy drinks and flat bill caps.

I don't know what's got your briefs feeling tight over Prey as I haven't heard it, but don't hold your breath that doom is going to do the same.

Seriously fuck Bioshock Remastered on PC, it constantly crashes and also has some bugs during gameplay as well. How did they get it so wrong and apparently I am playing the latest patch version.

Speaking of another gimped PC launch title, I started Batman Arkham Knight. Seems to be ok now with the patches so I havent experienced any of those launch issues but I just dont like the game for some reason. Read everyones complaints about the batmobile and already agree with everyone, it seems so tacked on for no reason. Fair enough, using it from getting from A to B I can see a legitimate inclusion but to make missions based on the car, not feeling it.

I must be one of the few people who liked the Batmobile. Calling it mid-dive and jumping inside is so badass. I even thought the puzzle portions were neat.

Im doing a puzzle part now with the crane, seriously fuck this. Why did they put this into the game.

The batmobile is suppose to aid Batman, not make him completely useless.

I also liked the batmobile, it was fun to use. Launching yourself out of it at top speed was like having a portable cannon from Mario 64

Yeah that part is cool but it just seems to break the flow of the game up for me so far. I want to explore an area but I need to maneuver the batmobile into place to progress. Part of Arkham series appeal was the stealth and combat sequences but now I am forced to use the car instead.

Im only early into the game so far, so not dismissing it so far but its easily been the worst experience in the series so far.

I was playing on console so don't know if it applies to you or not, but one thing that helped me was to switch to the alternative driving control layout. It turned the tank mode button into a toggle rather than a button you needed to hold, and remapped the accelerator and brake to the triggers where my hands kept expecting them to be.

I know the developers intention was to make it easy to fluidly switch between the two modes, but I found it too distracting. And most of the time I only wanted one of the modes.

Oh I mean I definitely look upon Asylum and City as better games but Knight is definitely better than Origins.

I rank them all so close to each other, really (haven't played Origins). Based on his mention of the crane, I don't think Ben has reached the early twist in the plot that's just so cool and so interestingly handled. In terms of story, it might be the best of the three.

Just started Prey and I'm loving it. The music is amazing and the world and level design is so complex. It's a shame there's no option to turn off waypoint markers altogether, I have to do it manually for every quest.

My only gripe is that I don't feel like the concept of the mimics has been used to it's fullest extent. There's nothing scary or tense about them, it's more of a puzzle trying to figure out where they are. They die so easily that there's not much to worry about if they get the jump on you though.
