Has any game done the American Civil War yet in a FPS? If it has to be centred around US, do that. I did like in Battlefield 1 campaign how it had an ANZAC level and even had an actor who I have seen on Australian TV. Battlefield 1 mixed it up a fair bit actually. Completed Kings Quest. Kind of fell off at the end. Each episode had a slightly different approach and the episodes I enjoyed most were the pure adventure based eps. Some ended up being almost 100% puzzle driven and they got tedious after a while and some were just outright impossible to solve without referring to a walkthrough. Life is Strange is still the champion |

Any suggestions for a decent atmospheric adventure story driven type game on Steam, preferably a non AAA game. They just seem to get lost within the huge library. I did so some investigation and added new release games like Edith Finch and Little Nightmares to my wishlist but are too expensive for me right now. So something on the lines of that, I have Gone Home in my shame pile but cannot get the damn controller to work despite claiming to be compatible. Looking for a decent under $10 game from the past 5 years or so. Edited by Biceps Ben Six Pack Smooth, Apr 29 2017, 11:53 AM.

I can definitely recommend Gemini Rue, modern pixel art point and click game. Not too long, but had a great story and some ok atmosphere. Machinarium was good too, more atmosphere and less story if you haven't played that... If you're after something more modern and 3D nothing really comes to mind as I haven't played a whole lot of stuff like that. |

I haven't played it but SOMA is apparently good and probably the kind of game you're talking about. |

About to get stuck into this. Can't wait although I'm fully prepared for a tribute game that takes all the frustrating from the originals and may not add anything new enough to be fun. Quite like the hand drawn graphics and how you can switch between the 8-bit and modern styles.... although I don't remember the older Wonderboy's looking THAT bad!

A good point I read about CoD is that they could've shaken things up by taking a more stylistic approach to WW2 -- more like Inglourious Basterds or Apocalypse Now -- than the 'realistic' approach they're actually taking and always take. Something like Spec Ops: The Line with CoD's production values would be a treat. A stylistic approach would also cater to the fact that these are games where you mow down a hundred enemies in a single level, that this is supposed to be fun and doesn't jive with 'realism'. The article mentioned how the presentation reveal spoke passionately about offering a faithful rendition of historical events before introducing Nazi Zombie mode. Anyway, the game involves D-Day and is about comradarie between the boyz and will sell 2 billion copies. |

I want this but it's not available on steam yet. What platform did you get it on. Somehow I suspect it was switch, would be a decent styled game to play in portable mode. Plus the game probably justifies using the console a little more. |

Yeah I purchased it for the Switch. Nice to have something else to play on it besides Zelda and Mario Kart ![]() So far it's very true to the original. It's really nice how you can flick between 8-bit and hand drawn graphics, sound effects, and/or music. Nice gimmick. Surprising just how much I still enjoy it. For a mediocre game that I enjoyed on MS I didn't think I'd like it as much as I do. After having been exposed to modern gaming I mean. Screenshots |

Mediocre game? It was my favourite game on Master System. We were considerably younger when the game was originally launched and I felt it was far more RPGish and a bit of a grind to buy new weapons for a chance to progress to the next metamorphosis for progression. Comparing it to the original Wonderboy which was literally just pure arcade platforming and I loved that game as well, goes to the credit of Dragons Trap that I saw it all the way through to the end. If you have PS Plus, Tales from the Borderlands is free this month. I'll definitely check out Alienation. For some reason Alienation is EU/AUS only while the US gets Abzu. I think we win.
