I thought MGS4 had some pretty memorable boss fights, like the Metal Gear fight and the punch up with ocelot. I really don't remember what happened in the story (probably because that's how I am in general and I had no idea what was happening at the time anyway), but that game has hands down the worst case of "I'm trying too hard to be a movie" I've ever seen, the amount of cutscenes and their total running time is just obscene. It's so self indulgent. Imagine a game where you have control taken from you a lot, like Max Payne 3, but instead of for a few seconds it's 10 damn minutes. As a game, though, I thought it was pretty good and when I played MGSV I genuinely missed some of things you had access to in 4; such as the camo suit, the eye and that little remote control wheely drone.... and the structured levels.... and the memorable characters.... and the personality.... and the music.... and the lack of busywork.... Anyway I've been enjoying Dragon's Dogma since basically right after my last post about it. I've been focusing more on the main quests which have made the game a lot more enjoyable, I guess this game just doesn't suit the way I normally play open world RPGs, which is that I usually get very very side-tracked doing other things like exploring and side missions, which isn't really this game's strong suit. As I've unlocked more abilities the combat has become more and more fun and there's a lot more drive to the plot now, too. Having a good time. Edited by Doomguy, Apr 22 2017, 08:15 PM.

I would say neither although there is a LITTLE bit of crossover with Darkest Dungeon in that human resources are treated as expendable resources and stress must be well managed. That's about it though - apart from that they're pretty different games. Strongly recommend playing Darkest Dungeon anyway. Great game! I've been getting into The Sexy Brutale recently. Look and sound drew me in along with the gimmick/hook of groundhog daying the same day over and over while trying to save guests from being killed. Turns out I'm really enjoying it - I hadn't realised but I was playing video games as something to fill in spare time if I had it. The Sexy Brutale is making me want to find time to play it. Very engaging so far (4 guests in). Am keen to see if it continues to hold my interest up until the end. |

![]() Bought PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds yesterday. Could only play a quick game last night but managed to get 4 or 5 games tonight. Felt quite proud of my performance in my last game in the screenshot. Managed to get my first overall kill and then two more in some pretty intense gun fights. If you haven't heard yet, it's a battle royale on an island with 99 other players. You have to scavenge for weapons and supplies and get to the designated zones before the sparkly blue wall slowly kills you. Last man standing obviously. It's difficult, but it's a lot of fun. Would be really cool in teams too. |

So in 2007 the Call of Duty series steered the shooter genre away from WWII with Modern Warfare. 10 years later and they're attempting to bring us right back. Well, the least I can do is help out with the user tags on Steam.

That's 'The Amazing Spider-Man' levels of creative bankruptcy. Battlefield 1 at least covered a war it hadn't covered yet. |

Yeah, and Call of Duty already returned to WW2 after MW with the mediocre World at War (or was that WW1?). Though I suppose, what else can they do? They already did Middle East, Russia, space... What else is there? Vietnam might be interesting, but that war is so passe these days. Or North Korea maybe, though that would probably bring on accusations of racism. Maybe they should do Ancient Warfare! That could be kinda cool. |

Since America MUST be the focal point of every Call of Duty, they should do the war of independence or, if they're willing to ride the shitstorm it would inevitably create, the civil war. Coolest non-American idea would be the Napoleonic wars. |

Maybe they could do American Civil War 2: red states vs. blue states. |

Yeah the games that I know of that have done North Korea in some way have not done too well commercially. Crysis has you fighting NK troops for the first half of the game, and I seem to remember that Homefront game bombing pretty hard (though it was supposedly garbage). |

Homefront was garbage, especially the campaign. Last COD for me was Ghosts. Surely they can put a new mode that isn't zombies. Until they release a COD without zombies, I will not play them. Mind you I stopped playing BF at 3, I prefer Bad Company 2 and hope they will release a 3rd one. |

The only CoD I've ever spent money on was 4, and that was 4 years after after release picking up the GOTY for like $20. I also won a copy of MW2 Prestige Edition (with the crappy toy night vision goggles) in a gamespot competition, don't look back with all that much fondness of that game. I think I actually remember playing a few quick co-op missions with you, ninty. I had network issues, so I couldn't even enjoy the co-op missions despite them being my favourite mode in the game. That Prestige edition also included an xbox live arcade copy of COD 1, which at the time I just couldn't get into, but I think I would probably appreciate it more now. Apparently the first game does a really good job of portraying the bravery of the common WWII soldier in a dignified manner, rather than making it a hollywood style power fantasy. There's a section in the Russian Campaign (Yeah, getting to play as Russians, seems crazy now) where you're lined up on the shore after having your boats blown to hell and back and your superiors are distributing limited amounts of gear. About a half of the guys get rifles and you're one of the unlucky sods who just gets handed a single clip of ammo (no firearm) before charging up the h ill into the rain of bullets. Maybe I should give that one another shot one of these days. Edited by Doomguy, Apr 28 2017, 11:04 AM.

MW2 cops flack for being really dumb (which it is), but Russia invading the American suburbs was a hell of a set piece, as was the one where an EMP disables everything and you're rushing through the streets in near darkness. |

Yeah I think ever since the CoD4 nuke scene they've just been coming up with set pieces to get people talking and then hastily writing the nonsensical connecting stories on toilet paper in their spare time.

MW2 was so boring! The Russian invasion of the suburbs was interesting for about 3 seconds, and the EMP attack was just a damp squib. COD2 was pretty awesome though. It may not have had any set pieces on the level of MW (and I don't just mean the nuclear blast), but it was incredibly solid and generous in a way no cod game has been since. |
