So Nvidia's Ansel got added to the newest drivers recently. Basically it's a tool that allows you to (in supported games) pause time and take screenshots however you wish. You can place the camera where you choose, apply filters, adjust colours, change the field of view etc. You can also capture in astronomically high resolutions, but I limited myself to 8K for the sake of file size. Decided I'd have a crack in Witcher 3. They don't look as good since I put them in jpeg for the sake of uploading but you can get some amazingly crisp, clean images with the raw output.

The rest I took can be found here.
Wasnt aware of this feature, would like to try it out as well but it looks like its limited to only a handful of games right now.

Yeah it's a great idea. I'm not holding my breath that it'll get all that much retro-active support but hopefully a good amount of games coming out in the future will support it. I'm very pleased Witcher 3 got it, though. One little extra thing that makes me glad I went for a 1060 instead of the 480, which I was tempted as fuck by.

I don't know how the hell to place Zelda anymore. Initially I was bonkers, then I reassessed once I thought the honeymoon period was over, but now I'm still discovering new shit and I think it's great again. At any rate it's the definitive open world game post-Skyrim. (And better, for the record). The only thing that might hold it back is that it's not original in the sense of the first Zelda, which it's mimicking on a grander scale, or Dark Souls, or other shit. It's more like it absorbed a bunch of innovations from recent years and mastered all of them. The 'originality' of BotW is that it's not a Zelda game but a transfusion of a dozen games, including Zelda 1, and that it answers each influence with aplomb.

My two cents on the latest Zelda (about to enter "dungeon" two)

I am truly amazed by just how great Breath of the Wild is! They've managed to keep the unique feel of a LoZ game while changing to an open world format... without suffering the negatives that many other games have! Weather, daytime, nightime, all play in well with the world, the quests are all varied and interesting, and, most important of all, it's amazing fun to play and explore!

The combat is varied enough to be interesting but simple enough you don't have to be an expert to play - just someone who pays attention. Equipment degradation is something I didn't think I'd like at first however it never becomes cumbersome and, surprisingly, forces weapon changes that provide a variance and fresh "life" to the combat... except for bows - I can't really tell any difference there!

The dungeons have been replaced (mostly) with shrines and the Metroidvania type progression with boss drops. Dungeon items done away with which, so far, is making for a much more enjoyable experience IMO. Shrines all focus on one of the games puzzle solving mechanics and most use them in new and interesting ways to keep them fun. I've not found any truly challenging so far however I've only uncovered about half the map and completed the first dungeon (water) so I've a ways to go yet. I like how the shrine names give you a clue as to how something needs to be solved. They're never obvious but just enough to point you in the right direction if you get stuck!

I've not been this impressed with a game in a very, very long time!

I played through Firewatch. It was an interesting and short story, that did a good job building atmosphere and a sense of isolation.
I loved how they didn't really give you a "chivalrous hero" route and made your choices further emphasize that isolation. Really made the end of the game work well too.

Did you see that thing in the US where, once you finished the game, you could submit your photos and actually have them sent out to you "developed" as if you'd sent in a disposable camera? I thought that was pretty cool

I look forward to eventually playing BoTW and being a contrarian about it.

I didn't see that. Having the photos shown over the credits was enough (along with the photos taken by the original owner of the camera).

One other small touch I liked was the way some of your choices in the game led to a kind of "reverse continuity". For instance, Henry is describing how his wife drew a picture of him, so I said how I had a full beard and had been posing as a Victoria Secret model. Later on, you see Julia's journal which contains that drawing you'd described.

Somewhat related to that, you spend the entire game alone building up a mental image of Delilah from the radio conversations, When you finally go to her lookout tower at the end, she's got these sketches where she was doing the same: building up an image of what Henry looked like. That sketch also relates to some of the conversation choices in the game.

Yeah agreed, it was quite amazing! Quick question regarding the story - did you ever get the impression that the game was going to end with you having some form of alzheimer's? After the story in the intro and the way the story time jumped (plus a glitch in my playthrough where I triggered a result scene without seeing the buildup) I thought that's where it was headed the first time I oplayed

Here is a perfect example of why Breath of the Wild is great. Dude carries a Cucco up to a monster and let's the monster hit it a few times... :)

Haha, ok, that's pretty cool. I wonder if that's possible in ocarina of time? Though I don't know if there actually are chickens anywhere where there's enemies.

I haven't been there yet. Tried once but I wasn't at the point where I could take out a guardian without commiting a lot to it, I'm still not really at that point.

The water dungeon kind of soured me on doing any more of them for the time being, I've just been exploring and doing side quests while avoiding the Divine Beat part of the main quest. The build up to the dungeon was fun at least.

You can have a scene in the bathhouse with me to go crazy about anytime bb
It's a great scene. What happens is, Viggo Mortensen is relaxing in a public spa when two assassins come in to kill him, and he has to fight for his life in the nude armed with only a knife he grabs from one of the killers iirc. It was one of the most brutal fight scenes of all time. The rest of the movie is disappointingly mild by comparison. I preferred Cronenberg when he was making demented body horror, like in Videodrome, The Fly, Naked Lunch, Dead Ringers, The Brood etc. His later work aims for a little too much mainstream respectability and lacks the edge of his earlier films.

I did think that a bit before the end. It felt a bit like Henry was losing his grip on reality. Things like him having a conversation with Julia on the radio, and then Delilah claiming that there is no way that could have happened.

The only part of the game I didn't really understand was where you overhear Delilah speaking to someone else on the radio and then pretending it hadn't happened. Maybe I missed the pay off for that bit?

Battlefield 4 campaign was actually decent, had some memorable moments for me though it was just too short. Im hoping Battlefield 1 has a little more depth.
