In saying that it's the most fun I've had with a game in a while, I haven't been playing it just to knock it off my list or constantly thinking about how much longer I have left. I actually wanted this to last longer and am going to play it again. Last game I felt this way about was Max Payne 3 I think. But that had a nice length to it and I was satisfied when I was done. Last game before that was Mass Effect I think.

Anyone else feel that way about games?

As in wanting them to last longer? I never seem to have that issue, I'm content with game length most of the time. I more commonly encounter games dragging on too long.

Uh nah more like playing games to just kick them out of your backlog. And I guess I'm talking about games that you're having such a good time with that you want them to go longer.

I dunno, I'm typing this on my phone in the middle of a bad lecture, I'm not sure what the fuck I was asking.

Oh, haha. I used to have that problem big time, actually. Until I eventually realised that if I'm not enjoying it's not worth playing. I used to play quite a bit for the sake of saying that I'd played it when it really wasn't my thing.

Yes for me on both counts.

For example, I'm currently playing Final Fantasy XIII-2. About 10 hours ago it was dragging a little and, as I'd just got my hands on Stick of Truth, I wanted to stop playing and play that instead. In that case I made myself keep playing FF13-2 so I could finish it. Otherwise it would have gone back on the pile and I'd have to restart it again later on.

Now, of course, I'm horribly hooked on the damn thing and even got up early this morning to play it before work! But I guess my point is that I occasionally make myself play a game but it's more a case of making myself finish something before moving on. I'll neve erkeep playing a game I don't enjoy just to get it off the pile. I'd prefer to just dump that game and write it off as "not for me" instead.

Yes to your second comment too. I'm at the last boss fight in FF13-2 but, after it's done, I'll still want to keep playing. Luckily FF13-2 seems to have a lot of post endgame stuff to do so I won't need to go back to new game +. In general I'm the same as Heretix; I find games are about right or drag too long, but there are occasional ones that I lvoe so much I want to immediately play more. Examples are Rayman Legends/Origins (which is strange because I didn't like Origins after my first playthru :S), Bayonetta, Bravely Default, Last of Us, Forza Horizon, Lollipop Chainsaw.

Yeah I usually go through it around the end of the year and it carries through the the first few months of the next, so I'm currently going through it at the moment. If course I never end up finishing even half the games in my backlog so it just gets bigger and bigger.

Most AAA games seem to pad on for too long (even short games do this), adding 'content' for the sake of having content. Usually adding an abundance of petty sidetracking or long/poorly stretched sections. Or put it simply, the Alan Wake Syndrome™.

I'd say the last game that I wanted to be longer than it was is The Swapper. But it didnt stop it from being my favourite game last year.

I must have died like thirty times against my first boss outside of the tutorial. The agony was worth it for the relief of finally killing the bastard.

I love the game's hands-off approach to instructing you. It's so much cooler figuring out things through experimentation and observation. I figured out how to jump by accident.

Out of curiosity, what class did you pick?

Has your love of Andrew Peirce swayed your opinion a little on this??

I think I just wasn't in the mood for it the first time and was playing it because it was meant to be good. Andy and Illmatic spoke it up so much :)

I chose Wanderer and selected the Witch's Ring. I hope it does something cool down the line.

I have Demon Souls still on my to do list for PS3, got Dark Souls on PC. Fuck I am petrified with starting these games, cause I know the time that is required plus patience to progress. I dont think its wise for me to start any time soon while im studying.

Also have the Witcher 1 & 2 that I havent started with and I believe I would be better off going with them first.

But I still have a ton of other games waiting to get started on, this is fucking ridiculous im stuck in 2007 with some game still. I just cannot catch up, the only solution I have had is that I have stopped 100% buying any new games, its just not worth it even on Steam sales at 90% off.

I don't know what to make of the fact that you can't pause Dark Souls. I assume it's to force you to strategize on the fly but a doorbell, phone call or a bunch of other things can completely screw you up.
