I'm also in the middle (or towards the end) of the Bloody Baron questline. I still need to find his wife, which confuses me because there's no marker, but I suspect I'll find her with the witches when I do the Ladies of the Wood quest. I agree the quests are beautifully designed. I wasn't as moved by the botchling as you guys were, since the game never gave me a reason to care about the loutish Baron or his family, but I enjoyed uncovering the mystery of what happened to them. My one concern is that I'm playing at a snail's pace, about an hour or two each day. That seems to be my limit these days, but that's just not enough for such a huge game. At this rate, Ill finish it sometime next year... Edited by Sir Goodfellow, Mar 9 2017, 12:49 AM.

If you're not a fanatical completionist, at that rate it would probably take you between 1 to 2 months to finish the vanilla game which I don't think is too bad. I've spent that long chipping away at something like Dragon Age: Origins. If anything it made it seem like a more spanning journey. |

I'm not really a 100% completionist - I've been ignoring most of the question marks - but I will do most of the sidequests and monster hunts, so I'm expecting it to take me around 70-80 hours depending on much I get into gwent. It's a daunting length for me. I don't think I've ever made it past 60 (maybe 65) hours in any game. |

Yeah I'd say that was an accurate figure if you took a moderate approach to side content. |

Actually, it will probably take me more like a 100 hours. My estimate is based on this https://howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=10270. That site is usually pretty accurate. The Main+Extras time always closely corresponds with my own playing time. |

Gwent is definitely the most I've ever gotten into a side mini game, but I'm avoiding it entirely in this new play-through. I'd had a gut full of it by the end of Blood & Wine since I went full on autism with it and hunted down every card, to the point that the though of playing even another round of it makes me feel sick. It's a great distraction the first time through, though. It probably didn't help that I played exclusively northern kingdoms, though. I just didn't really like any of the other factions as much, Nilfgaard is probably the next best for me. Edited by Doomguy, Mar 9 2017, 11:19 AM.

What's the most time you've ever sunk into a single player game? I remember getting to just over 60 hours in Lost Odyssey, having cleaned up the whole map and done everything. Yakuza 4 took me about as long, where I spent an ungodly amount of time playing golf and the other supremely addictive mini games dotted around the map. All the Elder Scrolls games took me between 50-70 hours before I got bored and gave up (still haven't finished any of them). And weirdly, Black Flag was around 65 hours. I just couldn't tear myself away until I did everything (though I think I also left the game running while I did something else for a few of those hours so the time is probably artificially inflated in that case). I'm finding gwent a bit frustrating so far. I simply can't beat the Baron no matter how many times I try. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. My deck just can't compete with his. |

I remember I spent a lot of time in Oblivion on a single playthrough but I don't know what the count was. I would estimate somewhere around 150. Spent about 120+ on Skyrim too. Dragon Age Origins I'm pretty sure I remember being a good 70-80 hours total with the expansions. I've played Mass Effect 1 three full times and a good 3 or so partial aborted runs so that's probably 80-100h there. I also remember Twilight Princess feeling really long, I swear it felt like a good 50-60 hours at the time but how long to beat says it's more like 40 which is probably more accurate. That said, I'm 100% certain that Witcher 3 is the most I've played a single player game in total accumulated hours, I have 246h clocked at the moment. That's from a single vanilla playthrough, a replay of the last third or so of that (to get a better ending and to do all quests I could find), a single playthrough of both expansions + what I've done so far of my NG+ run. |

I also remember not being able to beat the Baron. Basically you wanna play innkeepers, merchants, blacksmiths for their cards to build yours up. Also if you didn't get the cards from White Orchid you should go back and get those. The merchant that you save from the griffin at the start will be selling them I think. I will say that you shouldn't worry too much about beating Baron. From what I remember you'll still have access to get his cards if you don't beat him before his story concludes. Alternately there is an option to turn down the gwent difficulty. Edited by Doomguy, Mar 9 2017, 12:34 PM.

Oh, how do you turn down the gwent difficulty? Are you sure that's not a pc-only feature? Meh, I wouldn't turn it down anyway. I wanna get good without cheating. |

I was getting more and more excited about Yakuza 0, but then found out that it has no golf, no ping pong, no underground cage fighting tournament, and no Kung Fu school where you train fighters for karate tournaments. Those were my absolute favourite side activities in Yakuza 4 :(. Especially the Kung Fu school, which was an insanely involving and addictive management sim and an excellent fighting mini game. I'll still get the game, but I'll wait until I find it for under $50. Honestly, it's the single most underappreciated game series in the west. Yakuza 4 was dead set one of the very best games on ps3. |

The Witcher 3 is GWENT with a well detailed adventuring mini game with superficial RPG elements and middling combat (Bad combat if it occurs indoors). Did you get the Decoy card at the starting area? This card is very important. Learn to use it if you did. GWENT can be difficult because the players and quest associated with them dont really scale. You could run across difficult players and not have the right tools and cards to defeat them. Personally, finding GWENT players and vendors was probably one of the more rewarding things when uncovering new areas. Because other than that, the '?' only ever provides you with outdated gear that's not worth the trouble, a screenshot or two or the satisfaction of completing yet another open world game with a checklist. I am not playing Zelda. Still deciding on what platform and keeping watch on Cemu progress (they already have some build running). Edited by Red Panda, Mar 9 2017, 01:37 PM.

It should be right under the combat difficulty setting, can't remember what section of the options menu it's in but it's there. |
