I liked Oblivion and Skyrim more than Morrowind but it was my first huge openworld game. The concept of walking off in any direction and losing myself for hours was new to me. These days I couldn't play it. Bethesda games don't age well... |

OoT Banjo Kazooie Metroid Prime Battlefield 2142 CoD 4 Crysis Dead Space RE4 Oblivion Left 4 Dead LoL (although later replaced with Dota 2) Can't really decide between Demon's Souls and Dark Souls so I guess both had a prety big impact |

Im thinking of picking up the Origin double pack of Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 on sale. Thing is I wont be playing any multiplayer and only want the campaigns and I expect them to be rather short just like Battlefield 3. For anyone who has played the campaigns is there anything to see here, the pack is $65 so essentially $30 something dollars per game which probably brings the price down to represent the hours value I would get from the campaign but I still want a decent experience with that time. |

Haven't played it, but Titanfall 2's campaign got a lot of praise. |

I preferred Morrowind to both Skyrim and Oblivion, though it was certainly much less accessible. It felt like the game actively hated me and wanted to thwart my progress at every turn. There was a strong horror streak running throughout. It was an extremely hostile world, where even the generic smaller animals in the wilderness could cause you to lose an hour of progress if you weren't careful. And I remember some of the best dungeons could only be accessed by following uselessly cryptic directions from the notes and journals. And yet, it's still the biggest game I've ever played, with an unparralled sense of scale and freedom. It didn't just have the four vanilla factions you could join, but also all those houses, each with their own lengthy questlines and intrigues. It was also the most interesting in terms of the lore (which didn't feel completely divorced from the plot and the gameplay as in the later games) and had by far the most immersive atmosphere of any TES game I've played, as well as having the most architectural and gameplay variety and the best story. Beats the shit out of Oblivion's identikit meadows and Skyrim's repetitive snowy mountainside and hut villages. Edited by Sir Goodfellow, Mar 5 2017, 11:50 AM.

I'm about 3 level into Titanfall's campaign and so far it's great. If it keeps up this level of quality then it'll be well worth the $30. I played a little bit of the BF1 campaign and thought it was pretty good. Best of the series so far but that's not saying much. I never felt compelled to finish it though so take from that what you will. |

I know I tend to exaggerate how good a game is while playing it but Zelda is possibly the greatest game ever made. |

Oblivion was by far my most enjoyed Elder Scrolls. Morrowind was absolutely fascinating but I had no idea what I was doing and it's far less accessible and more difficult than later games. By the time I played Skyrim I was too cynical and aware of the game's flaws to enjoy it thoroughly. Oblivion was just at the right time for me, I was still pretty wide eyed when I played it so I didn't notice the problems with it. |

You might be better off waiting for those game to go onto EA Access and just pay $30 for a year to play their games. |

Problem is EA dont have many games outside of Battlefield series to justify the cost, especially if its through Origin. |

It's not affecting my progress so far, but I'm struggling with the systems in W3. Alchemy and crafting just seem like a huge hassle and I don't yet have the materials to make a single potion (except swallow which I needed for a sidequest) or craft a single item. Words like mutagen, decoction and matching runestones still leave me completely confused. I also have no idea how to upgrade my stuff. I kinda skipped through the myriad inventory tutorials because I assumed I'd get the hang of it from playing the game, but I'm still all at sea. Even just levelling up the abilities and having to place them into slots to activate them feels a little counter-intuitive. Otherwise, I'm enjoying it. I'm currently investigating the disappearance of the Bloody Baron's family and about to start Ladies of the Wood. |

It might seem overwhelming but it'll make sense, you've got tons of time to wrap your head around everything. Here's some clarifications, though; You only need to brew a potion once. After that your uses of the potion will be replenished when you meditate by consuming your supplies of alcohol, which are relatively easy to come by, just make sure to always pick them up when you see them. I recommend eating food where possible outside of combat if you want to not waste potions and alcohol. Crafting can be a pain to hunt down the supplies but you don't have to do it all that often since in the earlier parts of the game you'll just find better gear around. I would advise you not to bother crafting anything until you find blueprints for witcher gear / sets, that's really where crafting is relevant and worth your time. Usually you'll have a few choice items missing which you can either just buy outright if the smith has them in stock, or you might be able to break down something in your inventory that contains it, or craft it if you have the required ingredients. Just remember that you need to go to a blacksmith to craft armour upgrades and a weaponsmith for weapon upgrades; you can't do it out in the wilds anywhere you like... Runes are just little upgrades you can put in slots on your weapons or armour (not all gear has rune slots, but you'll encounter some eventually; such as witcher gear) eg. 5% chance to freeze. They're the least relevant bit of customisation in the game from my experience so don't pay them too much mind. Mutagens are used for powering up your chosen abilities. The screen where you have to place them in slots, there's a big mutagen slot next to each of the 4 'clusters' that will power up that set of abilities. Basically you want to colour match your abilities in that cluster to the mutagen you put in that slot, because it'll make all of those abilities stronger. You can also craft stronger mutagens with alchemy to maximise this effect. Mutagens are also used to craft decoctions, which are simply potions that make you effective against certain types of monsters. These are basically for boss fights that you'll encounter primarily in witcher contracts but also in the main quests and side quests. Geralt will give you a verbal hint when you've figured out what type of monster it is you're hunting after, you can check the bestiary for that monster so you know it's general weaknesses (usually signs and bombs) as well as what type of decoction you can use. Nuther cool Zelda thing is that it borrows Witcher's potion system (albeit a simpler version) but makes cooking food and elixirs essential where in Witcher it's more of a perk. You'd think it'd get tiring, but it doesn't. I spent an hour last night hunting game in the hills and foraging fruit and herbs. I snuck up on a mountain buck, mounted it and rode around the field before hopping off and killing it for the delicious meat. Just found the fuckin' Lost Woods. Buy the game Curt. So much of what Zelda does is years old, but it feels new when Nintendo finally do it. The physics puzzles in particular are fantastic. I also love the no hand-holding approach. It's bizarre going from Skyward Sword and its constant tutorials to this, where they never even teach you about cooking, you just have to figure it out for yourself. |
