The Last of Us did take a couple of minutes to load when I first clicked on New Game, but Until Dawn was pretty much instantaneous, and neither took me to that 'installing game' screen. Not that I'm complaining. I remember it would take up to 2 hours before I could play the game in the past. Even if it installs them on the sly, it seems much less annoying and more efficient now.

I'm gonna play Deus Ex for the first time and drink chardonnay and drunkpost about it.

The first Deus Ex I mean.

Deus Ex is awesome. It takes a little while to get used to the old-school aesthetics though.

It's going to feel and look pretty aged, but if you can adjust to it, it's an awesome game. I played it back in 2010 and I loved it.

I just did the training mission and the old school stuff doesn't bother me. The presentation is pretty good regardless.

I wanted to play MGS2 but it won't install. I saw this for $2 on Steam so hopefully it fills the sci-fi political hole I was looking to fill.

If I beat it I might try Human Revolution again and get further than the first area. It just fell to the wayside.

I finished Human Revolution and enjoyed it, but it doesn't stick in the memory for too long. They sacrificed all the glorious depth and intrigue of the original for accessibility.

I loved the second Deus Ex. Invisible War. It was criticised for exactly the same things I just wrote HR off with, but at least it had a genuinely interesting story and side missions, and I actually appreciated the smaller areas and tight focus.

I didn't even know it was the 2nd game. I saw it had consensus "Mixed" reviews on Steam and avoided it (most things at least marginally good have positive reviews) assuming it was some offshoot thing. It's only $1.74USD at the mo, bought.

Stealth approach compromised by enemy 1.

Fwiw, metacritic has Invisible War at 80, which usually signals an alright game. All the PC anti-console nerds who just wanted a bigger Deus ex hated it, because it was an Xbox game, and was distinctly smaller and less ambitious than the original. It worked for me. I actually only played the first game because I liked Invisible War.

Oh I don't care about whatever dumb reason Steam reviewers hate it. I just skipped over it earlier today because I know so little about the series I didn't know it was legitimately Deus Ex 2.

Current Deus Ex opinion: it's too old school in that manual saves are critical. I've died twice and been returned to the start!

I think if you like and finish Doo Sex then Invisible War is worth a playthrough, I remember rather liking the way it directly continued the story and where it went with it. I think it's definitely inferior and dumbed down as a game to the first but it's hardly unplayable.

I can say one thing, it's definitely one of those games from when ragdoll physics were brand new. I had an XBOX demo of it back when I was 13 or so (I remember it was on the cover of the XBOX AU mag I got the demo with, with some kind of sensationalist headline like "The new Halo killer?!") and I would kill the first guy, throw him up in the air and then shoot his body which managed to keep him afloat, or just chuck him across an alley into a dumpster. I must've done that for hours, many tears of laughter were shed.

I liked Human Revolution, even though it's still a shallower game than the first it was noticeably better than Invisible War I thought. I was considering picking up Humanity Divided with a spare $20 I had yesterday but decided to just buy a record instead. I've been pretty put off playing it since everyone says the story and ending are the worst of the series.

Well I just finished Syberia 2. I'm happy with what I got out of it, I think the highlight is more the journey rather than the destination but I'm satisfied either way with the ending which I thought was kind of sweet. The thing is, the driving force behind the story was the Voralberg family and the mystery of the island Syberia, which are both concluded. The only 'major' thing that was left open is what now happens to Kate, and I don't think I really care enough to be all that tempted by Syberia III. She really wasn't an interesting character, really all that happens with her is that she breaks the monotony of her life by deserting her job, her significant other and best friend get together in her absence (this happens in the first game and there's no mention of them at all in 2) and her mildly eccentric mother wants her to come home. I dunno, maybe they can conceivably make something interesting of it but I won't hold my breath.

I'll see what people are saying about it when it comes out but it feels a bit unnecessary to me now.

My favourite moment in Human Revolution was when I figured out I could gather crates from around the city to leap over a locked gate so it's cool to see this idea was there from the start.
