You weren't kidding about chapter 10 in Conquest. Finally got around to trying it tonight (too many sunny days) and I'm loving it (although I've yet to complete it).

Love how various team members can utilise the various area effect weapons and how many routes there are to defend. Really encourages a variety on the usual strategy.

What did you do with Mozu? Do you have that unit yet?

But that missions is just so well designed where every unit has to almost do their part in every turn. Even pairing up carries alot of risks because you usually end up with your hands full and never find a window to unpair them.

That Selena character is Bae lol.

One thing Isaac has over Gungeon is that, most of the time, you can just chill back. Gungeon is all action all the time: I can't play it as long as I can play Isaac because you're constantly dodging bullets and manually shooting - it just isn't as chill.

I only just got Selena and am not really sure how to use her yet. Doesn't seem particularly strong against anything in particular.

I saved Mozu... after a couple of save abuse (before I turned perma-death off). I suspect she's going to be one worth levelling but she's just so under levelled right now I didn't want to sacrifice the unit space. I'd considered swapping out Azura as I didn't really need a songstress - but thislevel has proved her invaluable! At the start of the mission I have her singing for the archer on the ballista then, once we fall back to defend the green squares, I shift her to focus on the healers.

And that's where I keep failing the mission. All it takes is one space swap (not sure what the move is called) and a death and they're able to punch through and earn a quick win. Consistenly getting to round 10 now though so I'm not far off. Maybe just have to "luck it" a bit

It's time for me to come of the closet, everyone. I'm gay. At least I think so, because I like me some Lo Wang even more than I like Duke Nukem. I think that Shadow Warrior is an improvement over Duke 3D in most ways. I've found most of the level design to be a bit less annoying than how Duke occassionally got, and also the enemy roster while being a bit less creative and varied was less irritating. I think my only complaints relative to Duke3D were that I missed the pipe-bombs (I really don't like the sticky bombs but at least you have the nade launcher) and that the explosion radius is too large, making it too easy to hit yourself. I'd also say the music wasn't as enjoyable as Duke. Other than that I've really enjoyed it. I look forward to giving the reboot another try and hopefully if that's successful I'll enjoy the sequel.

I've encountered my first bloater. It killed me half a dozen times on easy. I can see those things are going to be a pain in the ass. And I thought the clickers were annoying...

I'm up to the bit in Bill's town (or should I say Ravenholme) when they find a car battery in the dead guy's house. Combat can still feel like a chore, but at least I'm getting better at it now. Nail bombs and molotov cocktails are very satisfying to use, and the bow is becoming increasingly handy.

The game Lisa is pretty neat, like a darker Undertale.

Selena mostly stands out because she's such an amusing character, particularly within those support convos. Probably the best non-royal unit, too. Quick in that either always attack twice or prevent being outsped by fast Hoshido units. She can reliably evade advantages and her base class packs enough defenses to take a few unlucky hits to give her alot of staying power. Has a really interesting reclass option as well that some people take.

I was fortunate to have fed Mozu 3 or so levels and reclass her as an Archer. Was totally worth it as Nohr doesnt get a straight offensive Archer unit. Useful since there's so many Pegai units that come at you in the path. She was probably the MVP of Chapter 10 in spite being the lowest levelled unit on the field, goes to show how good that level is designed.

I played on Hard. I think the setup I had was: Silas and Selena non-paired to cover the left bridge (they can go deep into the choke with the crates and kite back and forth). Corrin with Arthur paired for the bonuses to cover the SE gap of the wall. The SW gap in the wall was the most problematic I found, I had Jakob, Azura cover it and once Beruka arrives theres a Dual Club that is found in that house to use to support that side, then rotate Azura to support Mozu - doing this made such a huge difference. East, I actually had Effie on this spot in spite of the weapon disadvantage and paired to defensively buff Niles who just sat behind to stay in control of the Ballista and Retalliate. Nyx on that Cannon, Mozu on the Central Ballista, occasionally picking off flying units. Camilla I used to bounce around to relieve pressure where needed.

Is it normal for a 7-year-old to lack any ability whatsoever to think laterally? I gave my nephew my 360 (luckily it works, so I get to keep the ps3), and since I had no kiddy games, we started him off on mass effect 2. He loved shooting and using the powers, though it was immensely frustrating watching him play because he was so clueless. But whatever, it's an 'adult' game. However, we got him Lego Marvel Superheroes today, and it's still immensely frustrating. He'll get to an obviously twinkling truck preventing him from reaching a boss just beyond it and be completely at a loss as to how to advance. It never once entered his mind to use Iron Man's explosive powers to blow up the truck. He was content just smashing the lego grunts that spawn endlessly in front of the truck for over an hour. I couldn't help but get a bit angry. Is my nephew stupid or is this normal for kids his age?

Has he played a lot of games before? There are so many things in games that are second nature to an experienced player that it seems weird to them that casual players don't pick up on them immediately.

That reminds me of a time I visited my much older half sister, she and her husband had a 360 with one of the newer open world need for speed games at the time, and she was playing it and seemed to genuinely be under the impression that you just drove around the roads getting into minor police chases or having those spontaneous races with other AI drivers, until I pointed out the map system and the different races you could do to earn money.

On Christmas Day I was playing chess with my cousin while my other cousin who's 6 "played" by looking seriously at the board and moving a piece randomly every minute or so until she got distracted and walked away.

He's played a lot of the simple TMNT, Power Rangers, and Ninjago sidescrollers you play for free online. I think the first proper 3d game he ever played for longer than 5 minutes was Okami a couple of months ago. I thought that was a good start. Then he played a bunch of my ps3 games for a little while. He particularly loved Black Flag and Infamous. I thought he was getting the hang of it. And then he can't - doesn't even try to - solve the basic problems in Lego Marvel Superheroes :(. He's obviously not as advanced as I thought.

It was annoying how he kept running into walls in ME2 and then just looked stumped when he couldn't get through (how about you look around with the right stick to see if there's another way, Ryan?), but now he's doing the same thing with a fucking lego game. His progress is a little disappointing...

I wondered that too. As it's already been answered I'll follow up with "how interested is he in games?

My first kid probably started playing games around 4 (Dora the Explorer and, similar to your advice, Okamiden). She took to the former faster than the latter as a) it as on a big screen so it was more communal, b) it was easier, and c) the subject matter interested her more.

She did, however, have a starting level of interest though as she often sat with me while I played games... admittedly that was mostly Guild Wars at the time but still - she knew I liked gaming and followed suit.

My other kids have all shown interest because their siblings play and they want in on that. Same way that Liam (2) kept wanting to join us in cricket yesterday :)

tl;dr - My first kid didn't quite grasp the concepts until around 6 but had an interest because I played. Lachlan (3rd kid) was completing games like Lego games at 4 because he started playing with his siblings at a much younger age as he had the interest/incentive of his brother/sister playing the game
