Oh, go read some Marxist books.
lol I don't even know how I provoked you this time.
Haha, you didn't provoke me. Marxist books just sounded funny at the time. Anyway, I was disputing curt's comment that ff13's story was somehow enjoyable. I wasn't talking about ff12, which I never got around to playing. The Trump stuff was completely gratuitous. Sorry about that, everyone. I guess I just wanted to be a bit naughty....

Lots of reviews are saying ff15 is somewhat of a return to form for the series. Even yahtzee, who generally hates FF, didn't seem to mind it too much.

I've mainly read that it's obviously unfinished and the story is a very basic one about collecting a crystal to save the world.

I don't know if you're thinking about checking it out but do yourself a favour and get The Witcher 3 instead. You're at least guaranteed a good time with that.

Yeah, I nearly bought that the other day along with Life is Strange, but I already have 4 games for my as-yet-unopened console, so I decided to wait till I at least set it up. Wild Hunt looks awesome though. That's definitely on the list.

You either misinterpreted something I said, were thinking of somebody else or I made a typo at some point, because the few hours I played of ff13 were utter garbage in both gameplay and story, just as bad as X if not worse.

INSIDE is cool.

I was going back and forth on whether I liked it or not. At times the game presented cool ideas with mind control and water mechanics. But it never attempted to stretch them into some genuine and clever challenge. Instead, it opted to present some variety that often lead to alot of monotony: The Submarine section, sluggish swimming areas and moments of simplistic adventuring/puzzle areas that were needlessly large. It felt like a slog to play at times, making it one of those games that you'd scream inside (no pun) because it doesnt have a sprint button. Despite that, what little platforming the game had was done quite well. Merely jumping around is pleasant and the timed bits it relied on were quite satisfying to execute as it usually involved some physics driven mechanism that you had to play with.

But I just love how discrete the game is. No text. No instruction. No Handholding. Just excellent communication of colour and lighting that respects the player to figure things out on their own. And it carries right down to how Inside presents its narrative and worldbuilding: using its ambient background environments to have you interpret the scene.

I like the ending. Pretty sure I got it.
Spoiler: click to toggle

There's alot more subtle stuff that I picked up on which gives clues to the facility, too which I dig.

I have to say, The Last of Us is a bit harder than I expected. I actually had to turn down the difficulty to easy after it got too frustrating on normal. Those clicker super zombies in particular simply became too annoying. At least on easy I have a fighting chance of running away before they gang up on me and tear my flesh when I'm spotted. I'm enjoying it more like this. I guess I've become a real casual gamer...

I played it on hard on Nuttz's recommendation and had a good time with it. I really like one of the early clicker parts where you have to sneak through a small shopping area filled with them. There are some shitty sections though where it's difficult to grasp how to do stealth correctly.

I've never finished anything on hard in my life. I tried cod4 on veteran and couldn't understand how anyone would enjoy that. I kept getting killed within 3-5 seconds of reloading.

I play everything on normal, though I turned down Gears of War to easy, because its normal was ridiculously difficult for me. I found easy a challenge. The Last of Us is much the same thing. I do understand how beating something hard can be rewarding. Call of Ctulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth was fucking hard on normal, but it felt so satisfying when I finished. I don't have that kind of patience anymore though. I'm playing The Last of Us for the story and atmosphere. Not to replay the same dank section of a building 13 times.

Mind you, I make an exception for Souls games (and hence Bloodborne). Also Ninja Gaiden, but I expect to have my ass handed to me and come crawling for more in those. That's the main charm in those cases.

TLOU's gameplay surprised me. It's a step above most shoot-and-cover games (and a big step up compared to Uncharted 1) and there are some decent stealth sections. Story and atmosphere are definitely the highlight for me, but it's fun too. Looking back on the gameplay I think of it in terms of set pieces ranging from great to a little frustrating. I have no idea if they improved anything for the Remastered edition, which is what I played.

The biggest difference I found with upping the difficulty in TLOU was that you get less resources. It seemed to fit well with the themes of the game when you're constantly scrounging for bullets, and having to think on your feet in combat sections. The Pittsburg section of the game before the sewers is probably my favourite 'level' in any game ever when played on Grounded diffculty. You have to use every tool at your disposal and every strategy to get through because more often than not you're going in to a large combat encounter with only a few bullets.

Yes

Sadly, it's a common criticism that you'd see under the Steam Reviews.

The best thing about it is how inventive it is with what essentially is just line puzzles. There are so many moments where a puzzle's secret reveals itself and you feel like you've stumbled on Pythagoras' theorem. I must've stared like an idiot at that Shinto temple a dozen times before the basic idea just clicked all of a sudden.
