Hmm, you obviously haven't played FF 13. God, what an insidiously awful piece of shit that was. It gives the word 'cringe' a whole new meaning... I don't remember the twins, but I guess I've come to expect a couple of cringeworthy moments in every JRPG I play, so I'm willing to look past them as long as they're relatively isolated. From what I remember of LO, the overarching narrative was generally decent and kept me somewhat engaged. And yeah, some of the short stories were lovely. |

My memory is bad. I just checked on YouTube and they're not twins, they don't sing the song on a train, and the song is really short and, while it's cringey, there's definitely worse stuff out there. |

So I just checked out the LO song you were talking about, and (assuming you mean mack and cooke's lullaby) I've always liked that bit. It's actually a nice sad song, performed in a pleasantly understated way. |

I remembered watching it that the girl is voiced by and sounds exactly like Phil from Rugrats. I swear I've played a game where two kids try to cheer everyone up with a song on a train. Maybe I'm conflating this with an earlier/later scene involving a train. |

Shovel Knight: It's waaaay better with a controller. I just learned yesterday that I can hook up my PS4 control to the PC. Movement is still a bit clunky though, and item selection is just a mess, especially in the middle of a boss fight. It's a solid platformer though - I wish it was a few hours longer. I got through it in 7 hours. The boss fights are my favourite part. Plague Knight's adventure seems like fun based on the first level but the controls are terribly awkward, so I'll give it a miss. DiRT 3: I can't complain because it was free. Seems pretty good for a racing game, but it's something I'd rather play every now and then for 20 minutes. |

Can anyone recommend games similar to Binding of Isaac, Super Meat Boy and Spelunky I should try out? Not necessarily roguelikes or platformers, but just retro-looking games that you can get a lot of mileage out of. |

Damn dude, that's a pretty high bar to set. What about Rogue Legacy or Flight of the Necrodancer? I know you said they don't have to be roguelikes but those two entertained me for hours on end |

Already played Rogue Legacy (it's good, but I prefer Binding and Spelunky), but I'll check out the other one! After I made that post I saw that Invisible, Inc got extremely good reviews so I'll get it off PS Plus. |

Crypt of the Necrodancer. I love this game. Though be warned, there's evidence from the speedrunning community that white people are really bad at the game and you're like one of the whitest people I've met on the internet! Darkest Dungeon, not really retro, but you'll probably like this game. I think the tension and thrills it provides is on par with that of XCOM. It's strong on tone and atmosphere and experimenting with party compositions and builds is quite enjoyable. It has issues which they're supposedly addressing in the next expansion and added shorter mode that alleviates the grind. Enter the Gungeon. I like it better than Binding of Isaac. It just has really awesome controls and shooting mechanics at its very core. There's cool weapons to toy around with and it has a great sense of humor Downwell. It's $1 on Steam. Has fantastic yet simple mechanics. YMMV though depending on how much you like the mechanics of the game. Matthewmatosis has a really good video on it to judge if it's worth looking into. Dungeon of the Endless. I really loved this game. It's a aeird mix of genres. Plays more like a light strategy tower defense/turn based game and ties into the lore/continuity of the Endless Space/Endles Legend universe. It's really fun in co-op, too. *pokes Chikan* you should get this game also. FTL? Not sure if you played this one. But it's quite popular. It's a space faring management/survival game. I wasnt too big of a fan of it feeling like glorified gambling. |

My nephew let slip that they got me a ps4 for Christmas. Even though I'm a bit too old to be receiving games consoles from santa, Im pretty happy with it. At least I'll now be able to play bloodborne and until dawn. |

Are there any good games for ps4/ps3/xbox360 that a 7 year old would think are cool without his parents telling me off for letting him play 'adult' games? He likes Okami well enough, but he wants more killing and action. He looooved infamous when he discovered he could electrocute any passers-by. The ratings are completely wack, and the people that buy into them are fools. I would have loved and got more out of gta5 when I was 7 than I do now. Most games are still for kids. I cringe whenever I see an R rating on bloody Wolfenstein where you spend most of your time shooting giant Nazi robots and indistinct masked grunts. We live in a society of fucking prudes.
