Okay finished it. It's easy to see in terms of gameplay and especially direction that it was made before they found their feet and made The Last of Us. It's linear cinematic gameplay is derivative of God of War but not nearly as good. I knew it was more lighthearted than TLOU but wasn't expecting it to have a tone along the lines of Timesplitters 3 or even Ratchet & Clank. I agree that the last part is a step up, but I wasn't wowed by it. The part where you have to fight soldiers and monsters while they're fighting each other was the best part. People always talk about this series' awesome set pieces... I'm not impressed yet.

Will play Uncharted 2 because I bought the 3-pack.

I can already tell ten minutes into Uncharted 2 that I'm gonna like it much more. That opening rules.

I liked Uncharted 2, but didn't really get what the hype was about. It looks nice and has solid mechanics, but I was never in love with it. The shooting, which makes up most of the game, got kinda monotonous, there was a shortage of puzzles, and the story wasn't up to much.

Uncharted 1's puzzles were just embarrassingly easy. Like when you need to press four symbols in order to open a door and Nathan consults Sir Francis Drake's secret diary that shows each symbol alongside a number with a note like "The order of the numbers is important".

Set pieces weren't really a thing in the first Uncharted game. They really commit to making them great in the games after that. The puzzles don't really get a whole lot better until the 4th game.

Playing Duke Nukem 3D for the first time at the moment, finished the first episode earlier. If it keeps it up it'll probably be my runner up favourite FPS behind DOOM. It's a really good game.

That game's multiplayer is so good. Probably the only multiplayer shooter I preferred is the Timesplitters series.

Anyone played the Batman Telltale Series? Would you recommend it? Thought I'd ask since the quality gap between Telltale's best (Tales from the Borderlands) and worst (Game of Thrones) is very wide.

I haven't though I remember hearing not promising things about it. People seemed to be saying it was one of the duds, from what I recall.

After playing Game of Thrones I've figured that some Telltale games aren't worth playing even if they're cheap. It was really bad. Might give this a pass. They should bloody make Wolf Among Us 2 already. I thought it was good, far from great, but it's the most intriguing and unique series they've made. Aside from Borderlands, I haven't cared much for anything since, including TWD2. They're very hit-and-miss. I guess it depends who's working on each series but I don't know the specifics of that. Anyone know what the Borderlands team are working on?

On another note, I'd heard about Age of Empires 2 HD but didn't know they'd released two expansions to what is basically a 17 year old game. Talk about commitment. Even though I don't think I could return to AoE2 at this point, that's pretty neat. I adored that game back in the day. It actually might be the last RTS game I played and I have no idea what the genre is like today.

CK2 and EU4 are technically RTS games, but they're not really what I mean. I mean the action-oriented kinds.

Lost Odyssey is free until the end of the month (first time it is available digitally). 22.43GB in size.

I don't see the Tales of the Borderlands season director's name attached to the other recent Telltale projects. Perhaps he's involved with Walking Dead Season 3, or the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy game? I could imagine the Tales team doing a good job on GotG.

Lost Odyssey is severely underrated. Certainly the best JRPG on Xbox, and the best I've played since FF VII. Just an incredibly generous game with rock-solid mechanics, nice graphics, plenty of scope for exploration, and a story that didn't completely suck and was even relatively well written at times. It didn't reinvent the genre or anything, but I found it thoroughly enjoyable. I don't know why it didn't catch on. Perhaps the 360 wasn't the best console to release it on.

Whenever I think of it, I think of the twins singing on the train. Possibly the most cringe moment I've encountered in a RPG.

The best thing is the short stories accompanied by illustrations and visual cues.
