Earlier this year I played Pokemon Emerald for a few hours (I'd only played Red before) and got bored by how repetitive it was. It just felt like Pokemon Red in a more open world. I wonder if I would enjoy the later iterations. If I end up getting a Nintendo Switch I might grab SunMoon.

Do they have records on which of the two Pokemon games in each iteration sold better? Nevermind, I found a random forum post with zero sources that explains everything:
Blue beat Red
Silver beat Gold
Ruby beat Sapphire
Diamond beat Pearl
Black beat White
X beat Y
Gen III Pokemon was like probably the worst one aside from Red/Blue.

Black beat White? I'm SO triggered with how politically correct some people are. I'm gonna tell people on Facebook.

Good on them for having the (poke)balls to acknowledge the statistics of how often those trouble making black pokemon beat innocent, hard working white pokemon.

I bought all Crusader Kings 2 DLC I didn't yet own and played for a few hours and I can confirm that Europa Universalis 4 is my favourite ever strategy game. If you love grand strategy and deep learning curves you should get it with all the main DLC while it's on sale!

That's not to rag on CK2. It's still very good, but it highlighted by contrast how EU4 manages to play so smoothly despite its equal complexity. CK2 can overwhelm at times. However in CK2 you can bar yourself inside your castle during disease outbreaks and eat members of your court once the food runs out. It's definitely got charms EU4 doesn't.

I'm not sure how good Uncharted looked in 2007, but the Remastered version looks amazing, almost as good as TLOU Remastered. The gameplay is pretty bleh - the shooting is completely lifeless shoot-and-cover style stuff typical of post-Gears of War games, while the climbing is a less glitchy but less sandboxy Ass Creed. I dig how the story flows along as you progress through each chapter. The story and dialogue remind me of Tales from the Borderlands. Good cutscenes. I hope the later games are more fun to play.

The gameplay of the Uncharted games definitely get better with each installment, although none of them manage to replicate the fantastic third act. The 2nd manages to improve on every aspect to near perfection in my opinion. The 3rd improves again on the gameplay, particularly the big set pieces, but it falls behind in the story department. Then there's the 4th game which is a different beat entirely. It focuses much more on story than the other games, and apart from the weird retconning of a character that never existed before, the different focus pays off. The gameplay is also a massive improvement, it's a shame there's less shooting and more climbing.

By third act do you mean the third game or the third act of the first game?

I'm digging it less now that the shooting sections are more frequent. It's just so stock standard, and feels weightless. The climbing isn't really a challenge but I don't mind mood-setting climbing parts, like scaling the jungle fortress.

I was wondering why I was getting a Crash Bandicoot vibe from the game. Had no idea they were the same developers.

Yep. Naughty Dog worked on Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter before Uncharted. This is why everyone thought Uncharted 4 would be a kart racing game.

I've not been playing wolfenstein. I don't know why. I like the game, but I don't think shooting's enough. It's either gta5 or the last of us next. Welcome to tell me which I should play first

GTA5 is a lot of fun but you should definitely play TLOU already.

They're both mainstream tripe for dude-bros. Play Ultima 4, Metal Gear (No, not 'Solid', the MSX2 original you pleb) or Maniac Mansion instead.

With all these new awesome games around right now I've decided to go back and play Guild Wars 2 again for some reason. Got a group ready for a weekly games night and we'll play through the story/levelling then dungeons and PvP/WvW.

I'd forgotten how great the world looks and how much fun the game is to play. Even with it's Legion enhancements it feels more refined than WoW... just without that glorious lore! :)
