Pretty much my no 2 rule of XCOM.

1. Half cover is no cover
2. First to move, is the furthest to go
3. Soldiers are more important than the mission
4. The most important upgrade is squad size. The 2nd most important is the next squad size
5. Full cover provided by vehicles is no cover
6. Dont run into fog of war with a yellow action
7. Bring a flashbang and a medkit
8. You miss 100% of the low % shots you dont take
9. An 90% chance to hit should be looked at as a 10% chance to miss
10. That character that you spent 15 mins on naming and customizing, will be the one that will immediately die

1. Cover is the coward's hiding place.
2. Run as far as you can with everyone.
3. Risk all soldiers for 51 intel.
4. Only build power relays.
5. Shoot cars to scare aliens.
6. Run in every direction.
7. 6 grenades.
8. Run directly in front of aliens to shoot them.
9. You will never miss up close.
10. Yeah.

I'm wavering on whether or not I'll buy Colour Splash. It's disappointing that it's not an RPG but apparently the dialogue is up to scratch and the gameplay seems interesting at least.

There's a fair few Wii U games I still need to buy. I hate how the prices never go down. Even Wii games like Mario Galaxy 2 are still like $50.

Played the Forza Horizon 3 demo last night. Really impressed with how much fun the game is but didn't like the colourful/saturated appearance or the horrible Aussie accents.

Now just looking for the best place to buy it. I thought it was cross play (Win10 / XB1) but I can't find a version that looks that way on the XBox store.

Oh and there's also a glitch that made both sides incapable of shooting for two turns. I was just going on overwatch; they were just running around me. I lost three soldiers because of it. Ridiculous!

I've only fiddled with it a bit because I'm still playing XCOM but transitioning between the Batmobile and flying across the city and vice versa is the coolest thing ever.

I finished black flag at 89% total sync, though I'm probably not quite done with it yet. It bothers me that I've only defeated 2 of the legendary ships (the other two were too frustrating at the time), and that I still have 2 assassination contracts to complete (the hard ones where you have to dive to get to them and have to do them unarmed). I don't really like the diving game play in general. Not only are the underwater controls finnicky and imprecise, but the sharks are almost impossible to avoid and you have no way of killing them or defending against them.

Otherwise, I've completed pretty much everything except the out of the way collectibles. It took me ages, but I even managed to fully upgrade my ship, which gave me a nice feeling.

Cant really think of a 3rd person action game where underwater combat and diving sections were any fun.

Would games like Super Mario 64 count as I really enjoyed those water sections? Although, I'm sure if I replayed it now, that camera would probably make me rethink that statement :)

Now that I think about it, Guild Wars 2's underwater areas and combat were pretty dope.

I just my most intense XCOM battle yet. It was a landed UFO raid, though most of the fighting took place in and around a dilapidated diner with half a wall missing. Basically, after very, very carefully planning an ambush centred on two officers and a Heavy MEC, a sectoid appeared from out of the blue and blew my concealment, triggering three groups of three aliens each at once, including an Andromedon. So a 6 vs. 3 ambush turned into a 6 vs. 9 vicious battle. The amount of times I escaped death was nuts. Three soldiers dropped to 1HP. Two were set on fire. One escaped a melee attack from the Andromedon. Another was mind controlled but rescued. Luck was on my side, even though I only landed 55% of shots, surely my lowest ever. I used up my entire arsenal of flash grenades, medkits and special attacks. The Andromedon was thankfully ineffectual, while the sectoids and officers were the real pain in the ass. When the enemy was reduced to 1 officer I almost sighed with relief before noticing there'd been a reinforcement counter counting down for the whole fight. The reinforcements almost killed my colonel, who had already escaped two deathblows, but I managed to put them down. Oh, I forget to mention that midway through the fight I used the Skulljack, which triggered the Codex monster, though luckily it ran away to the UFO. By the time everything else was dead I'd felt like I'd done three missions but hadn't even reached the UFO yet. I managed to set up a decent ambush on the 4 aliens inside and won the day with no deaths and 5 wounded. It was a lot of fun.

Like the first game, sharpshooters turn from ineffectual hassles into the most deadly top-rank soldiers by a mile. Fire Zone is super powerful. I've got two sharpshooters using that every mission now. My second favourite move is Conceal, which is super useful in retaliation and VIP missions and also lets you set up second and even third ambushes.

I just came across my first Sectopod. What is it doing when it shoots a bunch of lasers at the ground?
