I'm surprised you didn't have the game already. It's really great, and it's the first game I've bought first week of release in quite a long time. I get pretty good performance out of it too with my r9 380x but my CPU might be holding it back a bit. It runs fine with everything on roughly Medium to High. I think I average somewhere around 50 - 60 fps. I haven't bothered to tinker with settings or anything yet. Don't worry about your shotgun ammo, that gets boosted with upgrades. I was a bit worried about the upgrade system just getting in the way but I actually like it now. You of course get upgrade points for killing shit, but you also get them for completing challenges and finding secrets, both of which I enjoy doing so it makes the process of upgrading feel a bit more rewarding. I just got to Hell yesterday and it is bad ass. Skull keys! I didn't realise they had those! This game is cool as fuck! |

Yeah I didn't jump on it not only because I'm too cheap to spend $45-50 on it, which is the cheapest I've seen it go for, but because I watched one video of it which made the 960's performance look a lot worse than it actually is, so I had basically written it off as having to wait until I upgrade card. I'm also playing on mediums settings outside of the high ones I mentioned earlier, and yeah the lowest I've seen it dip down to is 56-57 I think. Thing is, in a lot of games when it dips under 60 I really feel it, but in this it maintains a certain smoothness that makes me not even notice it. I would have bought the game after playing the demo but I can't afford it now since I spent my spare cash on vinyl records just the past few days lol. I'll probably just request it for my birthday next month, I can wait til then. It does seem pretty damn cool, though. I really look forward to play it with some upgrades under my belt, especially movement speed and the double jump. Edited by Doomguy, Jun 14 2016, 11:08 PM.

They better have been some satanic doom metal vinyls. Also I tried turning on V-Sync once because I do get a little bit of noticeable screen tearing, but it locked to 30 fps and I didn't understand why. It looked real bad so I turned it back off and it's been fine. Oh and just playing it now my framerate seems to hover at 50 - 60 like I said but doesn't seem to go below that with heaps of shit going on at once. I was a bit hesitant to say that before because I had some severe slow down last night, but I think that has something to do with playing GTA5 earlier in the day with my CPU being under lengthy heavy load. I think I'll be able to raise some settings and keep it at a decent rate. |

One of them was a doom metal album, actually. I bought Goatsnake's Black Age Blues, that band I posted in the music thread with the churchy vocals. The other two I got were Death's Symbolic and Darkthrone's Transylvanian Hunger. But yeah the game doesn't seem to be very CPU demanding, which is definitely what you want. I hate cpu demanding games because upgrading a CPU is a bitch and way more costly than getting a new graphics card. I too tried the standard v-sync option in the game and it also locked down to 30 when it dipped under 60 briefly. As for adaptive v-sync (which is nvidiots only, I think?) it's the first game I've seen have it built into the game itself, normally I have to force it via the nvidia control panel when I want to use it. It worked fine though but since I get next to no screen tearing I'd rather just go without it, though I would say having it on feels a bit smoother at the cost of some slight input lag. |

By the way, how does GTA V run on your combo? I was amazed at how well it ran for me once I got my new i5 coming from my old phenom II. Pretty damn consistent 60fps on a mix of high and very high settings. |

Good combo of albums there, I can accept that. GTA 5 runs really well for me. The new graphics card helped but overclocking my CPU a couple of months ago (from 2.66 to 4ghz) helped even more. I would have to check but I think everything is at high to very high as well and I get a pretty solid 60. I'm sure it would be even better with a new CPU, but upgrading is certainly a pain and will cost at least $400. I figured I could hold out by OC'ing and it's working well so far. First gen i5 from 2009, still going strong. Should get a free more months out of it |

I ended up using a guide to get the remaining stars in The Talos Principle to see the third ending. I'd only managed to collect about 20% of the stars by the time I'd collected all the red sigils, and the solutions to some of the others were incredibly obscure. I did enjoy solving the 9 puzzles on the islands the stars unlock though. I've moved on to the Road to Gehenna DLC (which was included with the PS4 version). I'm enjoying it so far: both the puzzles, and reading all the stuff on the in-world BBS. |

I wonder how you'll do on Road to Gehenna's secret level (the reward for collecting all the stars). The puzzles are super hard and yet they have the logical design of the main puzzles rather than the the star puzzles' more abstract design. I couldn't solve a single one. I don't have the intelligence for it. |

Well I've saved the four AI from the first area, and managed to collect two of the four stars while doing it. I could see one of the other stars, and don't know where the fourth one is. The one I got within the "So Close, So Far" puzzle (the one with two hallways you could travel between by fan jumps, with a connector on each side and a recorder) was quite tricky, and I got to bed a lot later than I was planning last night. I doubt I'll keep up that rate of star collection, so may need a guide again to get unlock the secret level. I'll see how I go first. |

I'm up to Makna Forest in Xenoblade Chronicles and, with five characters in the party, it seems any combination of fighters that doesn't include Shulk and Sharla is useless because you need the former's Monado arts and the latter's healing abilities. A Dunban, Reyn and Melia combo would get smoked by serious enemies, right? I hope the characters learn more varied arts soon so I can try some different combinations.

I'm done with the Road to Gehenna DLC for Talos Principle. I managed to collect 5 stars while freeing the 17 AIs. I used a guide to find enough stars to open the secret area, and then managed to solve six of the seven puzzles found there. I got frustrated enough to look up a hint for the last one though ![]() I really enjoyed the game, so I'll be interested to see what they do in the sequel. I've started playing Assassin's Creed Syndicate now. It only took until the second mission to hit an amusing ragdoll glitch: So far I'm finding the two protagonists more interesting than Arno from Unity. The combat also feels a lot more fluid, even if it has just been button mashing so far. |

Started Life is Strange last night. Not the sort of game I usually go for as I'm not a huge fan of the style. The time mechanic makes this more interesting though so that's keeping me engaged. Found I was growing impatient with it last night so perhaps I'm not in the right frame of mind to play it just now. Anyone else find that? That they can sometimes be put off by a game if they're not in the right mood for that type? |

I only just completed it about a month a go, check a few pages back for my comments. I actually had the same feeling as you did on first episode, I mean I enjoyed it but was a little frustrated with pacing at first because I was walking around everywhere, conversing with everyone and viewing every single available item and wasnt sure if it was all worthwhile. It ended up being my favourite game of the year so far, I am still thinking of the game today which is rare. Your actions truly control the story and how characters react to you and that for me was rewarding but the most rewarding was the story itself. I actually gave a shit about the protagonist and even the surrounding characters. Things pick up half way through episode 1 and peaked at episode 4, episode 5 was a little disappointing but still concludes the story perfectly. |
