Started on my fourth playthrough of God of War III. Only planned to play up to killing Poseidon but ended up getting further into Hell. The upgrade on PS4 is wonderful, really looks brilliant when playing and feels a lot more polished than some HD upgrades. The cut scenes aren't perfect, but that's ok. The inclusion of camera mode is a nice touch as well.

As much as I love the other games in the series, I still think God of War III is the best. God of War II and Ghost of Sparta do come close though and if I had the time, I'd go through and replay the whole series again. Even though I'm not sure where they'd go with a new God of War game, I'd really like to see one come out.

I've been chipping away at Yakuza 5. The first few hours have been a little slow, but that's mostly because I've been exploring the town. I was especially excited when I was given a job to drag a food card around town. It gave me a Shenmue-forklift flashback!

I started playing Grand Theft Auto V (only 2.5 years late). I've got as far as finishing the first heist, and am enjoying it so far. It is an impressive improvement over the previous game (more the scenery than the character models). I've already been murdered by a dog, which never happened in GTA4.

I didn't even get that far into my playthrough. Enjoyed what I did of it but haven't been back. I really should one day.

I can now safely write off the hitman series. It's just not for me. I finally tried Absolution recently (after picking it up in the 2013 xmas sales lol), and it's still too hard for me (definitely easier than 2 and Blood Money, but I suck really bad). I'm sure if I actually applied myself I could do hitman, but I simply don't have the patience for stealth games (unless it's horror like alien isolation or really basic and forgiving like batman arkham or far cry). I still find this one too trial and error for my liking as well, even though this one is supposed to be for filthy casuals like me. All that happens when I play hitman is that I try to do something clever, it doesn't work, and I get in a shootout which results in me either getting killed or managing to scrape through the mission leaving me totally dissatisfied with the way things went down, feeling like it was a failure anyway. Not a criticism of the games, but I'm just not compatible with them.

Gonna give Fez a try, now.

y u so poor?
Had to buy seeds. Paid off in the end although I really need to find a better way of watering my crops. Gonna spend Winter searching for Iridium so I can make decent sprinklers!

That said I've still made more money (considerably faster) with fishing than with anything else

@Curt: Well you gave it a try. I can understand why it's not clicking with you, but its a shame because when you do pull off a successful hit and manage to get silent assassin rank, it's pretty damn satisfying.

The one problem I had was the time you would have to spend wandering the area and finding out who and what is where. I had varying levels of patience and sometimes I could do this and sometimes I couldn't. Same as your problem though, that's more a criticism of myself than the game.

I started GTA 5 again from the beginning on the weekend. I think I was close to halfway through, but it's been months since I last played and I couldn't remember what was going on. But yeah, it's a beautiful game to just sit and look at sometimes.

So FEZ is really quite good. I love the perspective mechanic, never played anything quite like it, it's a great concept. The closest thing I've tried would be And Yet It Moves which was a pretty typical not very good indie game. The first time you rotate the screen is a wow moment, the game looks and sounds great. It is unfortunately slightly buggy here and there, I've had the game freeze up twice when transitioning from one area to another, and there's some funny frame drops here and there which I wouldn't expect from a game of this graphical fidelity.

Also started Mad Max. It's pretty decent so far, upgrading the car is definitely the main appeal of the game for me. It's going to be interesting to see if the game loses my attention after getting what I want out of that. It looks and runs good, very solid PC version which is one of the reasons I bought it.

Yeah, I think I've had enough of FEZ. The navigation really is quite a chore. The point of the game I'm up to (I'm 75% complete apparently) I'm basically needing to go around the world collecting these last stray cube bits to have enough to get through this big door. Now, the map says what areas have cubes and bits available, so I know what places I need to go to. However, to get to some of them, I might have to go through a hub area that has 9 different doors in it, all in various inconvenient locations. There's nothing logical or intuitive about which door leads where, and the map provides no information about this so I have no choice but to just go around to each door.

Mercifully, the game does have a nice feature when standing in front of a door, a little bubble appears with a picture of the area that it leads to, but I still find it easy to forget what the picture of the area I want to go to looks like, and it can be confusing when multiple areas that branch off a hub area look similar. I still have to constantly consult the map and do lots of door testing, though, so it's just annoying and arduous whichever way you split it. I really wish there had been some kind of navigation feature implemented in the game. Like, you go into the map, press a on an previously visited area you want to navigate to and it would have little pointers on the screen for which doors you need to go in. I think this would not be unreasonable since as previously stated, what doors lead to where often has no logic, they're basically portals.

I also have to say that the game feels like sweet fuck all has happened to shake things up since the start. I've just been running around collecting blocks for 3 and a half hours.

So, it's a game with a great concept, core mechanics, graphics and sound, as well as one of the better "best foot forwards" I've experienced recently, but as you get further into it, it becomes a somewhat tedious gameplay experience that I ultimately found mildly boring. It's OK, but not outstanding. Those with a major hard on for puzzles might like it more than I did.

Sounds like you got about to where I got up to. I found the navigation in those parts quite tedious so just watched a video of what happens at the end. It was good, just got a little too tedious for me.

Killed Hermes in GoWIII last night. Still surprised that this game was allowed through as an MA rated game. It's fairly brutal at times.

Hyper Light Drifter.

I'll keep it short, but it's a mix of OG Zelda, FEZ, Ys and Dark Souls.

GOTY.
